I'm trying to flash just released ROM for Tilt 2 (http://www.htc.com/us/support/tilt-2-att/downloads/) from ATT. It freezes and reboots itself around 6% down. How this can be fixed? I have HardSPL on.
I just flashed it last night with no problems. I'm not sure but I think it is just restarting the device to send it to the bootloader screen and then it will finish flashing the ROM. Mine did it at 7%. Is it completely stopping? You might give it a few minutes to resume. I did notice that it took a long time to flash (probably all the bloatware they cram in the ROM).
FYI, you don't need a HardSPL since you are flashing an AT&T ROM on an AT&T phone. But, it shouldn't matter either way.

Oh. I thought reboot at 7% was unexpected since previous ROM flashes would never reboot in the middle of upload. I'll give it another try and assume first reboot is expected. Thanks.
yeah, the official rom always stuck at around 7% as I think it was doing some sort of formating of the memory (like task29). Then it will reboot and continue to flash it afterwards, so give it a bit time.
also to be safe, it's good idea to reboot your pc before you flash.
Nah, not task29, but first it flashes SPL_Signed.nbh containing SPL and Radio, reboots into new bootloader and flashes now RUU_Signed.nbh containing everything .

I have been trying to update my ROM lately with a new Radio and have been having one issue. Whenever I run the update utility, the screen will enter SPL Mode (all white) like it should, but when it enters SPL mode the activesync connection is lost, every time. I cannot get it connected again until I reboot the phone back into wm6, and then it connects to activesync just fine.
How can I get it to stay connected long enough for me to flash?
So to begin, when I want to update the radio, I should be able to update it in the same way I install a new ROM, correct? I use a SoftSPL file I found here and simply copy main file into that folder and then run start-SPL.
Anyone else experience this? It just seems to always disconnect and cause errors right before it updates the ROM.
The only thing that I can think of that could be causing it is the phone fell in some water for a couple seconds about a week ago. It's been drying out and seems to run ok again as of today. I was able to flash the ROM a couple times, so I know it's possible to flash. It took a couple of tries, but eventually did flash. However, I've tried about 10 times for the radio only (2.71.11) and it won't work.
Any ideas, other than it cannot be fixed due to water damage?
Note: I was just able to flash back to the cingular stock ROM (was using Jaguar 4.0). The stock ROM always seems to flash easily without difficulties - can unofficial ROMs not be flashed in the same manner? Just an .exe file that takes care of everything and never has activesync issues? It's flashing the stock ROM as I type, and it does not show the activesync connection is active. It was at first, but was lost (or appears so, anyways) as the flash began. The stock ROM is much easier to flash in my opinion and hasn't given me difficulties thus far, although other ROMs used to flash easily as well - not so much now.

First,You don't have to flash Radio Rom using 'SoftSPL',its an EXE file,it'll flash straight like an official stock rom,as it doesn't contain any IPL/SPL in it,it won't effect the bootloaders and the phone, its safe to flash to any device,G3 or G4,just connect your phone with pc via usb cable and run the Ruu included in the Radio Rom,it'll start to upgrade.
Secondly,YES! official stock Roms are easy to flash, cuz it contains official G3/G4 IPL/SPL included in them,it doesn't require CID unlocking the phone, whereas, custom build wm6 Roms require the phone to be CID unlocked and doesn't include IPL/SPL in it,so a G4 device cannot be CID unlocked, therefore, using 'SoftSPL' or 'HardSPL',its tricked into temporarily CID unlocked status, but actually its not CID unlocked.Hope its clear now

Man.. it is clear enough, but dude, you didn't tell how am I able to proceed with the ROM upgrade when the activesync issue occurs everytime I try to upgrade.
I am a total newbie on this and I am having the saame problem in here.
Hi all,
I have been visiting these forums for 2 years now and have downloaded some great tools and ROMs to enhance my Trinity, however something all of a sudden has gone very wrong!
I upgraded to WM6.1 Elegance edition about 3/4 months ago, CID unlocked the phone about a month ago and everything has been working like a dream.
However just today, I attempted to turn the volume down on my phone during a meeting (I always forget to normally!) and there was no display. After few battery resets, again no display. It starts up, loads the the Elegance splash screens and then hangs on the screen before when the OS should appear.
My decision was to flash the ROM again. I cant flash using Activesync as it wont pick up on the hung screen, so I started the bootloader and got as far as 1% of the flash and it will restart. So I tried the SD Card method when resulted in a "loading" screen appearing for a few seconds and then it goes back to the standard bootloader and displayed a 00068002 error.
I am out of ideas, I hear mtty.exe is a good program for this kind of thing, but what I want to know is if this is fixable or if I should give up!
I have been working on this since 2pm today none stop!
Can any of you guys give me any suggestions please?!?!?
Kind regards,
Jonathan
Should be a cinch
Did you SPL the Phone before flashing roms?
If you put the phone into the bootloader mode The RGB screen and kill of activesync you should be able to run one of the flash update programs.
If I have flashing problems its usually Active sync so I kill it then run the flash program.
I've got a sneaky suspision your battery might be causing the problem.
Hi there, thanks for the reply. As I was new to upgrading I havent used SPL on the phone before flashing the ROMS. I did use an unlock tool recently as i wanted to try a different network SIM to see if it worked when I was in South America, so the phone is unlocked to all networks. Are you saying if I SPL now it should sort the problem out? If so how do I do this withour ActiveSync working - can you use SD?
Another thing I failed to mention was that when I start an upgrade and it follows all the steps, it doesnt say the current ROM on the screen where you press update ROM. It just gives the name of the new ROM and the current one is left blank.
I have disabled Active Sync before attempting the update. It seems to go through fine and then the phone restarts wafter 1% of the update.
What makes you think it is the battery? I am happy to spend under 20 pound on ebay if you think it will fix the issue!
try unbrick.bat.......my trinity was also stuck.......unbrick.bat save my day....
The same happened to me several time....I could not find a solution other than this one:
1. Flash the official HTC ROM.
2. Flash the required ROM then.
it works for my TrinTy.
I tried to upgrade my 8125 using Shelltool earlier this week. I used the tool successfully before and so I was assuming that things would just go well.
Unfortunately, I ended up being stuck on the bootscreen. I can also still go into Bootloader mode and so I figured all I need to do is to download the Wizard Love ROM, go into Bootloader mode and apply the ROM to restore an older version. Well, for some reason the RUU utility keeps telling me about a communication issue even though I already disabled USB in Active Sync and I also killed the program using Task Manager...
What am I missing here? I am hoping that someone can enlighten me...
Thanks,
Jens
For some reason I was finally able to flash my 8125 with the Wizard Love ROM this morning. Flash completed and I was back to an old working ROM.
Unfortunately, when I flashed it with the latest CR86 it flashed fine, but then I am stuck on the Bootloader screen. Already tried it twice and just running it a third time, but I am puzzled...
Any help?
Thanks,
Jens

its on its last flashes my friend(or maybe just tire of custom roms)
but just before mine died, it would do that, until i was stuck on the bootloader and the screen would just die, i would have to leave it off then turn on but the same, after that i just left it alone
i could not flash anything on it and i could not see it suffer anymore
i still have it but dont have time to bring it back to life, at least it blinks at me
That's what I was worried about...
Strange thing is I probably only flashed it about 10 times... Very frustrating!
Thanks for your reply!
Hmmm, I just tried the old Wizard Love ROM again and it worked right away.
What am I missing here? I am trying to get to the new CR85 6.5 ROM, but I always end up being stuck on the bootscreen loader. I mean it shows me the HTC screen, but then it goes straight to the bootscreen...
Any suggestions?
I am back in business!
It turned out that flashing back to an older ROM disabled my HardSPL. I guess a case of user error on my end...
Anyhow, I also experienced the fading display mentioned above and I think that's just a sign of a weakening battery. It seems that the phone doesn't charge fast enough over USB in Bootloader mode.
So, if you run into the same problems like me:
- Charge your phone using the charger when you are stuck in Bootloader mode for extended amount of times!!!
- Flash an old provider ROM or Wizard Love ROM
- Re-apply HardSPL if needed
- Upgrade to a newer ROM
Cheers,
Jens
ive done a lot of research and still cant find a solution. im sort of a newb, heres the problem my wifes TP2 when she turns it off and turns it back on the phone gets stuck on bootloadr screen, tried to hard reset but wont do anything. but when i plug it with usb to my laptop if i soft reset it will boot up.I read that alot of people had the same problem and just had to install a coocked rom, well i did i installed energys rom but it still had the same issue. Now its back to stock rom. any info on how to fix this is appreciated and thnx in advance.
Get it replaced under warranty
if you were able to flash a cooked rom, you must have installed hard-spl.
when did you do this, after the problem appeared to be able to flash the energy rom, or before? maybe this could be the problem...

here is a thread on the subject already.

well the first time her phone did it i googled the problem and it brought me here, a thread that said stuck at bootloader screen and their solution was flashin a cooked rom. well it got the phone to boot after i did that but every time if she turns it off and back on it gets sutck at the tri color screen. i installed hard spl when i was flashin rom.
here is a thread on the subject already.[/QUOTE]yea been at that thread also, but my problem is that when i turn the phone off and when i turn it back on it wont boot up it just gets stuck there, like i stated above i already flashed hard spl and flashed a energy rom but it still does the same thing. i flashed the phone back to the original rom but is still gets stuck, the phone works as long as she dont turn it off but after awhile her ram goes up to like 80 so i have to turn it off, and to turn it back on i have to use my laptop. and thanx for the help guys i really appreciate it. and phone dont have warranty i bought it on craigslist.
Since it's going to the tri-color bootloader screen, seeing as normally to get to that screen you would hold volume down on boot, have you checked inside the back of the case to make sure there isn't dirt/debris jamming the volume down button? If the volume adjusts normally once you do get it booted, that may not be it, or maybe it's just a short in the key.
Also, both the stock ROM and energy ROMs are bad about eating ram, and need to be rebooted regularly. Maybe try one of the ROMs that doesn't, like a Jackos rom, which you can leave running for days without a reset. Might not solve your problem, but might at least take some of the bother out of it.

You've got me, there. The last energy rom I tried was a little bit ago, and was a Maxsense version at that. Even still, it soundly failed my Opera Mobile 10 test on a clean flash off of a fresh boot (it would autokill OM 10 to free up ram without any other apps open). Any rom that does that goes straight into the bin as far as I'm concerned.
I have been meaning to drop one of the more recent builds on to see if that was just a bad experience. Maybe try one of the titanium versions, just to make sure I'm giving it a fair shake. Either way, this has now gotten at least a bit off topic. =P

yea i have the sep 18 nrg rom on mine wich now runs very good. well after a couple reboots with the phone plugged to my laptop, i unplluged it and tried a soft reset and thank god it booted normal, i then powered the phone off and turnd it back on and it worked. dont know what the problem was but i appreciate everyones help.
There is different things that you can do to try and resolve your problem. Start by finding a rom that you would like to install on your phone and save the file to your SD Card. FL5 Mentioned Jacko's rom and I swear by it as well. I run the showlite version modified to my liking and still have on average about 80 mbs of ram open.
2nd thing to do would be a Task 29 which will pretty much formats your phone. This is important to do because if there is any "debris' left over from any of the roms you have installed, this will take care of that. "Debris" at times cause issues that you cannot pinpoint and interfere with the rom that is currently installed. It is also important that you do this step second because once you do a Task 29 you will not be able to flash through USB. At least, I have not been able to do so. I flash from my SD Card. You can get Task 29 here-->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649191
Once you do that, flash your rom from your SD Card by following the directions here-->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540
Hopefully this fixes your problem. If it doesn't, you don't have to soft reset to free up ram. I use software called "cleanram" and usually run it on level 3 which means that it thoroughly finds processes taking up ram and reclaims it. You can also schedule a daily, weekly, hourly clean under the settings menu. You can find that here-->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=514333
Best of luck.
Oooooooooooo yeah! Task 29 is absolute magic. Completely wipes your NAND before a flash to remove the chance of old ghost files from past ROMs jacking up your system. If you've followed any of the flashing tutorials on the board then you've definitely been doing this step, and thus this shouldn't have been your problem. Not everyone has problems if they skip it, but all sorts of seeminly otherwise random problems can pop up otherwise.

Eh ? I don't know what's going wrong for you, but that's completely untrue. After running task29, you need to unplug the phone from the PC, put the phone into the bootloader (e.g. press reset while holding down the Volume Down button), wait for it to come up and say "Serial" at the bottom, then plug it back in and it should say "USB". Then you can flash via USB (which is safer than flashing from SD card, since it does more checking).

The 20 Sep ROMs have the option of using quick menu. With that option, even with Sense 2.5 and CHT (a RAM hog), I have 88 Mb available on a normal basis. I don't use Opera 10 (also a RAM hog), but I think it would work with the new ROM.
You have to manually select the Quickmenu option.
well the problem with her phone is fixed. but now my hardware keys stay on dim but they stay on, im gonna try doin task 29 and reflashing a rom see if that takes care of my issue.
Well just for future references, I had all of the above problems and tried all of them. Issue did not go away until I did the following steps..:
Run Task 29
Flash new ROM (Issue still exist)
Flash New Radio (Issue still exist)
Reflashed Hard-SPL (This somehow fixed the issue....)

So this morning I woke up to my AT&T Tilt 2 rebooting itself. It was rapidly, and repeatedly rebooting. It's so bad to the point where I'm lucky if I can HardSPL, Task29, and Reflash it. I've done it 3 times already today because it hasnt gone long before going into the rebooting fritz. Anybody know whats going on? What do I do?

What rom are you running? We will be able to help better if you include this info in your signature. Are you overclocking? You only need to HardSPL once. Try doing a hard reset manually loading apps one at a time to see what may be causing the problem.
Well not too long ago, I just got to the post limit that activates editing of the signature. And it keeps restarting, so I dont have a chance to flash a different rom. And I guess I do overclock, every rom i see has instructions of hardspl and task29 befofe flashing each rom. But yea it wont let me flash cuz it constantly restarts and messing up the flashing process

Have you tried to hard reset? If so, does it make it through the set up?
HardSPL unlock the device so you can flash different ROMs. Once you have done this you don't need to again. I think I would try the hard reset and then do not load anything (if your use XDA_UC press no when it asks to start). Then wait and see if it restarts. If not then load the apps you use one by one and see if it returns. If it does try to run task 29. If that completes let it sit and see if it restarts then. If it does there is something with your phone that is making it restart. One other thing... what radio version are you using?
Enter bootloader first(power, volume down button at same time),connect to computer, then flash new rom....
WC
Ok it was acting fine yesterday, now it just started going into the reboot spazz again. And Idk know wat you mean by install apps one by one, i cant install anything cuz its constantly restarting.
And WC, I already stated that because of the constant and rapid restarting, I cant flash it because it always restarts before its done.
Is it possible your reset button is stuck or damaged? Has it gotten wet?
I dont think its stuck, I've tried pressing it and it seemed to press fine (it didnt have an effect tho). ANd no the phone hasnt gotten wet.
