[Q] Stucked on the samsung galaxy s screen. - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Stucked on boot screen (the one that we usually see first with white letters). I did factory reset but I am still stucked on Galaxy S boot screen. I heard the default galaxy S sound but did not see the big 'S'. When I press Volume down + Home + Power , I just see a big triangle which says 'Downloading...do not turn off target'. This means that I can go into the download mode.
I installed odin3 and installed .512 PIT file as well as JH2 firmware from samsung-firmwares website. Inside the JH2 zip file I see a file with extension .tar (I think this goes in PDA section of ODIN).
After connecting my phone with my computer, I see 0:[COM6] in Odin. Plz guide me from hereon. Any help will be much appreciated.
NOTE: I was using gscript o change system fonts. Probably deleted system fonts. Then, I restored back to system and since then phone would not start. Well, it starts but I am stucked on this screen.
I am using Samsung galaxy S vibrant (Bell, canada [GT-I900M])

I will not help because you didn't ask the right question. Please change the title of your thread to something more intelligible or no one will bother.

I am trying to connect to KIES because I think i can reflash using test mode.
Yes..I tried that? Did wipe/factory reset..then rebooted....got the same screen again.
Thanks for replying
EDIT: when I go to recovery menu (Volume up + home + power) and then connect with USB...I can see my device listed by using 'adb devices' command in the cmd prompt.

OK....When I connect my phone to my computer via USB, I can see 0:[COM6] in ODIN. I can go into download mode. I have downloaded JH2 firmware (zip file from samsung-firmwares website). I have Bell Samsung galaxy S vibrant. Can I flash with ODIN.

hay buddy i had exact same problem and this post saved my life... here it is hopfully it will help u out if it does let me know

Download the JM6 zip (in the development forum) and flash it via Odin. after the device has rebooted, if the previous apps havent been deleted, go into recovery and perform a factory reset and reboot again

Read my above post. Go into download mode (volume down + home + power) you'll still have the same image but the phone WILL be in download mode. Then flash your previous firmware and you're sorted.
Sent from my GT-P1000
You probably got that by messing with the kernel. Fund the zImage from the firmware, extract it with a .tar extractor then use something like heimdall to flash the kernel and it should work.

Hi. I'm looking for solution for my problem but nothing has helped me. I cannot restart mu GTab or put it in download mode. I always land into Android system recovery <3e>.
My problem: I cannot restart my GTab anymore. It started when I wanted to do a backup with ROM Manager. Unfortunately EURO TAB isn't supported yet. Then I want to find out whether nandroid backup is possible. From ROM manager I booted into recovery. But there isn't nandroid backup. And now I cannot boot GTab anymore. Every time I restart it brings me back to Android system recovery <3e>. I would be grateful for every solution.
Help please

Having the same problem too... anyone can help?
If you see Phone-!-Pc on the Tab screen it is the download mode.
You can reflash it using Odin, however, you will need to do full Rom flash. I had similar problem and solved it by replashing.
I followed the latest guide published in this forum and Roto-JME rom with reformatting of internal sd.

Where can i download the JM6 zip??
Hey guys,
I tried to manually update my tab to Gingerbread today via Odin, but it kept hanging on select partition (I discovered I used the wrong PIT for the firmware I was going to flash, but as I didn't select the firmware yet that shouldn't be a problem). At last I decided to quit Odin (which might have been stupid...) and try it again. Then it kept haning even earlier, so I tried to restart the device in download mode. However, whatever I try it keeps giving the Phone ! PC sign. If I try to just boot, if I try to go into recovery mode or if I try to go into download mode. I saw a lot of possible ways to solve the problem, but my PC doesn't recognize the tab anymore. If I connect it, it does give the "usb device connected" sound, but there is a popup which sais "USB Device not recognized. One of the USB Devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message". I already tried to reinstall the driver but it doesn't work. Also Odin and Heimdall don't detect any device.
Does anyone know a solution for this problem? Maybe taking the battery out? (for which I have to buy a new triangle screwdriver, so I need to know if it could possibly work first. It takes some weeks to order such a thing I think...)
EDIT: I played around a bit with the drivers again, and suddenly both Heimdall and Odin recognized it. However Odin stopped recognizing it again. Then I pressed "read PIT" in Heimdall, which worked. After that the device started booting up to the Samsung logo animation and then powered off again. Now it doesn't do anything anymore, not even showing the Phone ! PC screen. I'll charge it overnight (maybe it's gone empty during the process), so I hope that helps.....
In some strange way, the phone works again..... So never mind my post above.

So, this one contains a bootloader (Sbl.bin). maybe thats the cause of the problem. Still, I wonder why it started in the first place and then after some reboots it gets stuck. I tried different Kernels with no luck. Maybe I should try to flash a new bootloader? However, that could brick the device forever.

I have a very similar problem.
I flashed the [ROM] Roto JMI Pre-Rooted Firmware v2 [Feb 4, 2011], and got stuck on the Samsung Boot screen.
Now, I can't even get the Downloading mode to work. It opens fine, but Odin/Heimdall doessn't detect the Tab at all.
Hopefully, someone knows what's going on. If not, I'm taking it back to my carrier, and asking them to fix it (assuming they'll fix it).
Maybe this will help for the bootloader.
Its a bootloader patch. Please read thru the thread. Hope it helps.

Dont get what you mean by that. You cant get it to download mode but your tab start up fine?
Download mode = press vol down + power pn button.
As for odin/heimdall doesnt detect the tab it could be usb port (some reports in android development thread) or could be usb drivers.
As i need to switch usb drivers when i need to flash my tab & my dell streak.
Hope it helps to start you off.

I meant that I can get into Download mode, with the Downloading logo, but doesn't get detected by Odin. And it stays stuck on the Samsung boot logo if turned on normally. Can't get into recovery either.
Before I flashed the Roto ROM, Odin was working perfectly fine. I've been flashing other kernels and ROMs before. But now, the USB doesn't even seem to get detected. It's like nothing is plugged in. Can't even choose to install/uninstall old/new drivers.
I dont think it's the USB port, as I've tried to connect to Odin on 3 different computers, trying every available port on each. It's looking like the USB connector is just dead or something.
My tabs mainboard was broken, it was replaced and now it works again.

Same problem here man. I CAN get in to download mode. Odin recognize it normally. I CAN download normally. Look likes everything is normal, but after update it restarts, but hangs on Galaxy Tab Samsung logo. I've tryed everything with different firmware, custom-roms, hacking things, but with no success.
Can someone please help me?
Same problem here. My tab is stuck at samsung galaxy logo and until now, no one could provide an answer.
I flashed some ROM from samfirmware that must of locked the bootloader (JMF). Then I tried to flash JM6, JMA, JMC, JMK, JJ4, JJ7, JM5, JJ1, JID and almost all ROTO's. with and without pit files using ODIN 1.7. I also tried a stock ROGERS ROM (that i downloaded from this forum) using Heimdall. The tab always boots to samsung galaxy tab logo. I've done alot of reading in this forum and followed many flashing instructions but when applied, it doesn't work for me.
My main concern: is there still hope with the tab ? or it's gone forever.
Is there any specific order that i must follow when flashing ? ( ie, flash one specific ROM before another). The tab was canadian that was flashed to euro.
Thanks for reading my post.
the dbdata file is corrupted.
1) download this file
http://forum.xda-dev...98&d=1290261479
2) extract it
3) use Odin to flash it under the PDA option
-make sure repartition is UNCHECKED
-do not select any pit file
-leave everything else the same

If you're able to provide information as to exactly what you did to get your device in this state that would be immensely helpful in regards to diagnosing the problem. However you'll probably be able to recover your device using a custom jig.
I can not be more explicit. I wanted to try a rom. Wasn't satisfied so i downloaded another one (with cache file, database file, bootloader, etc... ) but the file have been dowloaded too quickly (i think the zip file was corrupted...)
So i did the flash, and my tab don't wake up. I don't have a brick state (with the usb and pc logo). I don't have the samsung/galaxy tab logo. Ihave nothing on my screen. Like my on/off button was broken...
And whatever i do(like the combo on/off with the volume down), my computer don't recognize the tab. So i can't flash it again.

Well you're going to have to be if you want anyone's help.
What files did you flash? Which software did you use? Which version? Were you given errors? How did you flash the files?
Please provide a detailed step by step run-down of exactly what you did.
I can't remember, and i'm french, i can't find the right word to explain the situation...
I flashed my tab with HEIMDALL (the last version on the website) i think the problem is when i wanted to flash with the file EURO.pit (i choose this file in the "bootloader" category of the software HEIMDALL).
The problem... My computer can't recognyze the tab because i can't turn on the tab, so... I don't know what can i do.
EDIT: And HEIMDALL don't tell me any error. Just "Flash Complete, Rebooting"
EDIT 2: I think i used the wrong bootloader...
Up?
What can i do? Is a batterie problem?
Let your Tab charging for 5 Hours and then try again.
Sounds like you've flashed a bootloader not designed for your tablet. Luckily all Galaxy S devices store a backup copy of the secondary bootloader which is utilised when a certain resistance is detected on the USB port. You can send it off to Samsung and they'll repair it, but they might charge you. The other option is to build your own custom jig which will activate the backup secondary bootloader.
now ive got the same problem. i tried a custom recovery i found in the "bible" sticky...clock work wasnt working when i was doing adb commands. the recovery i tried is called 3e. all it would do is reboot, t-mo logo and then bootloader words would flash very quick and black screen (backlit) press the back button and i got the triangle droid.
then i got it to go into download mode and tried a rom with odin this is the rom if it helps
GT-P1000_P1000XXJME_P1000OXAJME_P1000XXJMB_P1000XXJME_XX_ITV.zip.enc
unzipped, selected in pda and clicked start. failed at the last second and the downloading android screen on tab was stuck so i powered it down.
stupid stupid stupid!
now it wont turn on period, i get nothing from usb connection or secret button presses.
ill try the "rig" tomorrow, but how will i hack up this galaxy usb to work? the guide says micro usb but obviously thats for a phone.
please help if you can, i just got this thing today
@Benjamin: I can do a custom jig for a galaxy tab?
EDIT: But i don't think the jig will help me..
"If your phone screen is always black, that is it does not display the white Galaxy S/Samsung/AT&T logo when you switch it on, then sorry, this jig will not help you. "
HELP please? Can i do a custom jig for the galaxy tab? And How?
press and hold the power button for 10 second make sure it totally off
then try to enter download mode
if u are able to enter download mode
flash roto jme v4
if it a battery problem
i think it may be battery flat, try plug it in to the charger see if it work after 10 min

Samsung Galaxy Tab not turn on after an update ...

Hello, I tried to install a firmware page samfirmware.com my samsung galaxy EUR tab is P1000. installed with odin and all was fine but now the tab does not turn.
Can someone help me?
Thank you and sorry for my bad English.
Can you get into download mode? hold volume down and power.
the screen does not turn but odin detects tab
Thanks.
Connect your usb to the power socket. If battery icon appears then there is hope. It seems like a display problem for me. If it doesnt your display might have issues. Try reflashing with odin and see. Also noob question did you flash with correct firmware for your device. If it still doesnt turn on it might be a hardware issue than a software one.
No battery icon appears. But if I connect to the laptop the odin detects the Tab. I put the wrong firmware.
Thanks.

If odin still able to detects it, then there is hope. But this procedure will wipe your tab clean, even internal sdcard!
Now, go to here and get Roto JMI FULL ROM + P1_add_hidden.pit.
Once you've done it, put your tab into download mode by:
1. Turn off your tab without plugging it into anything;
2. Press and hold Power + Vol down till your tab is on;
3. When you see android shoving picture, it's in download mode.
Plug your tab to your pc, launch odin. If it shows up, put P1_add_hidden.pit in PIT field, Roto-JMI-Full-v2 in PDA field. Check "Re-Partition" & "Auto Reboot". And let it flash. Your tab should be able to boot up now, with root installed, and future updates will not need to go through kies.
REMEMBER: DO NOT DOWNLOAD ANY FIRMWARE FROM SAMFIRMWARE.COM AS THEY CONTAINS LOCKED BOOTLOADER! Once you get above procedure done and able to boot up, then report back, still have things to be done
The installation went well but the tab still does not connect. The screen remains dark.
Thanks.

Dark as in you still able to see anything on the screen or it wouldn't even turn on? Cause for tab, if battery power reach 10% or lower it will remain dim(as in without backlight, but screen is still on.
The screen does not turn. It was so because a wrong firmware installed. But odin recognizes the tab. Is there any possible solution?

Without screen, I can't really help much now. If even charging through wallplug without showing battery icon, I believe your screen is basically defective, perhaps you needs to send back to samsung for a screen replacement since it's still new
i had the same problem before and i panicked. but all i have to do was to
1-flash Roto-JMI-Full-v2 with ODIN (No PIT and No Repartition)
you will get no touch screen after doing this
2-flash the stock ROM with ODIN (with PIT and Repartition checked) again and it will work
Where can I get the stock ROM download from?
Stuck with the same problem. So downloading the Roto-JMI-Full-v2 image. But not sure where to get the stock ROM from.
For me,
I am able to get the battery on the screen when I connect the usb.
I am able to get into the downloading screen by pressing the power + vol down.
Odin detects.
Odin gives me a "Pass" when I flash with Roto-JMI-Full-v2.
But after that I still cannot get in. The Screen is stuck on the Galaxy Tab with samsung logo at the bottom.
Any help would be great since I cannot do anything with the Tab right now.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830D - Semi-bricked - Need Help!

Hey All,
So I'm in the process of helping a friend with his Galaxy Ace from Koodo. As it turns out the phone looks like it's semi-bricked but we may be mistaken all together so here goes:
My buddy tried using SuperOneClick to root his device however half way through the process, it froze and when he restarted his device, it hangs at the Samsung logo during the startup boot sequence.
1. When using a combination of UP Arrow + Home button + Power, he receives a message stating:
"RAMDUMP Mode
(ARM9 mode)"
In this mode he cannot do very much however his PC does recognize the device. Odin does not work in this mode.
2. When using a combination of DOWN arrow + Home button + Power, he received 2 different screens. The first is a bright pink colored screen that states:
"Warning!
A custom OS can cause critical problem in phone and installed applications. If you want to download a custom OS, press Volume UP key. Otherwise, press Volume DOWN key to cancel."
Pressing the down arrow brings him back to the frozen Samsung logo on startup however when pressing the UP arrow, the phone goes into "Downloading..." mode. In this mode, Odin DOES work.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for the troubleshooting we've done. We managed to find a few articles online that asked us to use the Odin tool. We downloaded a few different sets of the files needs (Cooper.ops, CODE, MODEM, CSC & BOOT). Odin then detects the phone in 'Downloading..." mode and proceeds to installing the rom. It completes successfully however it does not reboot. The screen simply flashes with the Samsung logo again.
The original firmware build before the device stopped working ended with TLKI4.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Can anyone suggest anything else we can try?
2. Do you know if the bootloader needs to be flashed first and if so, how?
Note: We can not take the device back to Koodo as it was purchased on Kijiji and no receipt was provided. It's the GT-S5830D.
Thanks in advance,
1- boot into recovery and try to wipe data and cache. u can enter recovery mode by pressing home+power.
2- it doesnt matter, u already flashed new bootloader by flashing the phone via odin.
btw does the "D" in "GT-S5830D" bring any different in hardware with international regular GT-S5830 that most of us here use?
if its different by somehow, u shouldnt flash generic international GT-S5830 rom into it. i know for sure that galaxy ace korean version cannot use generic rom from international galaxy ace.
yep there are some 5830D specific roms on sammobile.. try them instead of generic ace

Can you point me to a certain rom/boot loader to download from sammobile? I was there earlier this morning however I didn't see any mention of Canada anywhere and I left before I messed things up further.
Even if you could just tell me which one it is I have to download, I'll do the rest myself.
Thanks a bunch!

There is no option to wipe the device. In fact, I have had other Galaxy S models and I'm pretty familiar with the screen however the Ace does not load into that recovery. Either it goes to "Downloading.." or "RAMDUMP (Arm9 mode)".

There is no option to wipe the device. In fact, I have had other Galaxy S models and I'm pretty familiar with the screen however the Ace does not load into that recovery. Either it goes to "Downloading.." or "RAMDUMP (Arm9 mode)".
Thanks

he was talking about recovery menu which can be accessed pressing down home button while booting.. if device is in bootloop then try to wipe data from recovery first as that might help

Thanks buddy! I tried that exact ROM however it didn't seem to work either. I used the 'Coopers_V1.0.ops" file under the "OPS" option in Odin and the "S5830DTLKI4_S5830DTLSKI4_S5830DTLKI4_HOME.tar.md5" file under the "One Package" option. Like I said before, the flash went through in "Downloading..." mode, and Odin said "PASS" however, when it came time for the phone to reboot itself, the screen started flashing and did nothing new. Same Samsung logo appears and it seems to hang right there.
Also I dont think the device has a same recovery menu anymore because even though I hold down the Home + Power buttons, it does nothing. It simply flases the screen at the Samsung logo screen.
Any other tips for me to try? Thanks again!
wierd that u cannot enter recovery mode while u can enter download mode and successfully flash it using odin.
even if u messed up recovery when u first use superoneclick earlier, flashing via odin should also flash it with new fresh recovery. so how long did u hold the home+power? i'm asking just to be sure. maybe u not hold it long enough for recovery mode to kick in.

I held it down for more than a minute just to make sure. As soon as I put the battery back in and try and restart the phone, it goes into an infinite loop at the Samsung screen.
Even I find it odd that the phone will go into Downloading mode but not recovery.
Any other suggestions?
try to install qtadb (google for it). connect the phone with pc via usb, launch qtadb and boot the phone. qtadb should display some logcat. paste the logcat output here. maybe we might have a clue whats wrong by looking into the logcat
but even if phone still stuck, just wait a few moment. if qtadb had access to the phone system via its native filemanger, it means u can use adb. use adb to reboot phone into recovery

As far as I can tell QtADB isn't even detecting the phone. I have tried to complete the procedure over and over however no show. I may not have installed ADB correctly though so I'll give it a shot again a little later.
Thanks!
