[Q] Epic 4G ProgramMonitor Widget running on Captivate? - Captivate Themes and Apps

Hi Folks,
I just read a review of the Epic 4G and it goes into detail about a Task/System/App Manager widget by samsung that comes on the Epic 4G. The file is named SamsungWidget_ProgramMonitor.apk
I downloaded it from a message post in xda this morning (don't remember the link sorry) Anyway I tried to download it via Captivates browser and it kept saying installation unsuccessful and then I tried to install via adb and command line and it gave me the [.....NO CERTIFICATE] error message or something.
Anyway I was wondering if anyone has successfully installed this widget on their Captivate? If so how?
BTW - my captivate is rooted but running stock JF6 kernel.
If you haven't see this widget, you should check it out - looks really awesome!

Post the .APK
Can you post a link to the .APK. Also, can you confirm that you have enabled side loading?

thanks for posting a link to the .apk
So can anyone else install this successfully on their captivate or am I doing something wrong?
I also have some addtional info - I even installed and tried to use the side loading tool from android central and I get the same result as if I were using adb to install it. I get (again):
Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]
any thoughts?

I tried to load it and it doesn't work for me. Not sure if it my be a code error or something preventing it from working, I tried with appsloader.

Nope I couldn't get it on my captivate either
Sent from my phone so excuse the spelling errors

Didn't work for me either...

I thought that you'd have to just sign the apk yourself to install, but it turns out that that only changes the error to "Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_INCONSISTENT_CERTIFICATES]"
No dice.

So I've got it showing up on my list of samsung widgets using TwLauncher, when adding it, it adds a widget box to my screen that says "Problem loading widget", I'll work on this some more later, I'm pretty sure I can get this working, and added to the widgets folder so you don't haver to use TwLauncher

Anyone try to just drop this into system/app?
When I was trying to get MediaHub back after running SRE that is how I had to do it. Drop it into system/app and set the permissions to rw-r-r--

That doesnt work, the widget is locked to that phone, and its locked as a Samsung Widget.
I've figured out how to get this working, but my problem is my computer wont see the mounted drive on my phone anymore, and when i mount it, adb shows it offline, when its not mounted, adb shows it online.. its weird...

For Froyo: Google Car Home - Updated Confirmed Working

http://googlemobile.blogspot.com/2010/10/car-home-for-android-gets-personal.html
Looks pretty nice - you can have it turn on when you pair with certain BT devices (like your car) and you get a nice interface for use in a car.
It is supposed to be in the market now:
EDIT - not in the market yet - maybe because of our build info.
EDIT AGAIN - the fine print now says only Nexus1 and Moto Droid - so here it is for the rest of us:
Confirmed Working now - thanks to majkeli and TheMaginator below:
1: Install com.google.android.carhome-1.apk
2: Install this CarHome Launcher (first rename it to end with .apk instead of .zip)
All i get is install blocked. Im rooted even. Cant seem to find any 3rd party install settings on froyo?
Mine installed fine, but it's nowhere to be seen in the app launcher. I also noticed that on the installation complete screen, where you usually have the "Done" and "Open" buttons, the "Open" button was disabled and greyed out.
When I attempted a second install, it noted that the app was already there, and installed again, with the same results. Interesting.

Yeah, i posted it before i tried it. I installed via ADB, but same results. Says it istalled successfully and copies it over, but no visible app.
It does uninstall oK.
i can see the wallpaper in live wallpaper gallery but force closes every time i try to apply it
This worked for me:

CarHomeLauncher
So basically the apk the OP graciously attached does not have the launcher just the app so the launcher is what is needed.
I tried this and it worked:
1: Install the CarHome.apk the OP provided
2: Install this CarHome Launcher (first rename it to end with .apk instead of .zip)
Thanks for the link majkeli
Works like a charm.

Thanks for finding the answer - i rolled back to 2.1, but looking forward to finally using this.
Im not doing something right. Changed the launcher to .apk but it keeps the zip look. Is it supposed to change or something because I can't install. Tried using Sideload wonder and it doesn't recognize me changing the launcher and I tried using Root Explorer and if I click on the launcher it goes inside the app?

Apparently google was pushing new market update to all the android runnig phones, is th market update process working in our froyo port? I'm asking as I still have the old version of market.

Right here at attachements.
Works on my Kaiser
Just open the .apk with a file manager on your phone and install it.
It will replace the old Market.
Nice looking market BTW
Update doesn't work on mine...
Running Gingerbones 5.1 Odexed... Possibly due to the fact that Market is Odexed in this build.. :-(
why need update? the current market is working well on cyanogens 6.1, or no?

Oh, god no. My phone and pushing are not a good combination.
Can't connect my phone using ADB.
When I want to start up my pc and my phone is connected, it just freezes at the Splash screne until I pull my phone out. Then it boots normally.
Yeah that's probably because it's odex'd. I don't really remember on wich one I tried. If I'm not mistaken it was on Clemsyn's Final Froyo Build.
Downloaded it somewhere off Megaupload. Got the link from some video on YouTube.
I've managed to odex the updated market, and use Terminal Emulator to transfer it to my /system partition overwriting my original market, and it seems to work. Granted I had a gapps FC at boot, but restarted without a hitch.
So far no other FCs, and Market is fully working. Though not sure how many apps I still have available. :-/

I did similar, got the file, sent it to the kaiser, odexed it, sent it back to pc.
Edited my androidinstall.tar, replace old market with new one.
Its working so well, that it detected a gmail update and installed it perfectly (no manual input).
the old market gave me errors doing that, had to manual update.
Nice
Great work
could one of you post the odexed new market?
many thanks!

same here on polaris with scoot's Kernel With Separate Cache Partition.
also no dialog to choose between charge only/hard drive/etc when connecting to booted pc via usb.
adb does work though, just make sure the drivers are installed on your pc, connect and wait for >120s before calling "adb wait-for-device". once your prompt reappears you are connected and ready for e.g. "adb shell".
use "adb kill-server" and "adb wait-for-device" when you get disconnected (not exactly stable) - i use WiFi Keyboard and WiFi File Explorer from market instead.

Not able to download Amazon App

Unable to download Amazon App. I click on the icon from amazon.com and it says file not found. Any ideas? I'm running CM7
It keeps say Not Found The requested item could not be found.
I' m not familiar yet w/ cm7, so there may be an easy fix I don' t know about, but have you tried dling the app on another device (or copying from another device), and either copying it into your cm7 nook & then installing? Or pushing it & installing w/ adb?
What URL are you using to try to download it? I'm having no problem getting the APK from: amzn.to/getamazonappstore (Sorry I can't post it as a link, as I'm still a "new" user).
Skunk, cool thanks. Did that and works fine.
you can't get it directly, you have to sign up for it and have the apk sent to your email. that's how they do it.
look for the icon that says app store with email sign up towards the right side of the page

Manual Update not working was missing kindleupdates folder

Hi. I followed the directions off amazon website for manual update but it doesn't work and their instructions are by "corporate standards" lol. I am running 11.3.1.0_user_310084920 and I just downloaded update-kindle-7.4.8_D025_4849020.bin the latest from the amazon website.
Amazons website didn't say anything about a specific folder to put the update into it just said put it into the main drive folder. so I looked it up and there is supposed to be a folder called "kindleupdates" <hopefully case sensitive like this. I just created the folder on the drive and put the .bin into it then i went to the device menu and selected system updates then I click check now cause that is the only option available. after it runs it says last updated failed with a retry button now. when i click the retry button it doesnt work at all just flashes the text of last update failed.
I did this without creating the kindleupdates folder and also with it. nothing happens. and it only wants to connect to wifi if it is disconnected.
adb is working with my device fine if there is anything else i can do. I didn't push the file with adb though, i used gmtp to transfer the file and it is there.
for right this second i am just wanting to get this thing back to full stock since I have it rooted and i have multiple small issues with it like the status bar gone and chaning the build.prop for it doesn't work then work with anything else after since I have uninstalled to many system apps.
i dont have a fastboot cable but i seen and heard from stunts that it may not be needed because of buffer size.
i also unrooted this tablet and factory reset it and all to try the update as well. the root exploit is nice and quick lol
thanks to anyones help
You don't have the right version for your Kf. If you try to flash v7.x.x over your 11.x.x you will brick it.
