[Q] How to use Stock app Drawer on CM6? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, that is basically it.
I used CM RC1, RC2 and RC3, and on all of those I could change back to the stock Launcher just by copying it to the system/app folder and rebooting after.
But now I can't.
I really miss the nice stock app drawer of the Nexus One, does any one knows how to use it on IDW? Or at least how to change back to the Stock Launcher on CM6 Stable.
Oh, I also tried to copy to the System/app folder and delete the IDWlauncher. Well, that just made my phone stuck on the bootanimation.
Thank you all in advance.
Cheers,
Fernando

You could try LauncherPro, there's a 3d drawer option in the settings that looks pretty much the same as the stock one but it's definitely faster and smoother.

[APP][REQ]SMS Split NS4G/CM7 MMS.APK

I have tried pushing the Mms.apk from CM7 over to my NS4G, but when i hit settings I get FC everytime. I was just wondering what I am doing wrong or if this is just not possible on the NS4g.
Uh, what ROM are you running? You know there is CM7 for the NS4G, right?
Yes I do. I just wanted to stay as stock as possible and still get that functionality. I also don't like adw.

The mms from cm7 will not work on a stock rom because of the framework differences.
Push this to your /system/app folder, this should work on your NS4G.. I use this on my phone with the stock ROM.
post back and let me know how it works out for you..
edit: just to be on the safe side, wipe your dc & cache..
As long as you wipe cache/dalvik then it works like a charm.
thank you good sir
not a problem, i'm glad it worked out for you
Using this app. Works great. Followed the directions but my settings (notification settings and split settings) don't seem to be saving. Any ideas?
Running a stock rom rooted with netarchy kernel..

You must be running an odexed rom. Do this: put the Mms.apk in /system/framework instead of the normal; /system/app.
This will install and write a .dex in /data/dalvik-cache and will save your preferences now

[Request] Samsung Clock App for ICS??

I'm currently running Docs ICS V5 and was wondering if anyone has or would be able to port the Samsung clock app??? I prefer it to the stock ICS clock app so if anyone knows of its existence would you kindly point me in the right direction. Thanks

I would like this also. I found a thread for the Galaxy Nexus where someone was able to port several TW apps to work with AOSP but when I install them they are not formatted for our resolution. Maybe someone will be able to port those from
this thread.

Stock ICS clock is bad, no Stop Watch
There is a stopwatch, but it is pretty poor compared to the Samsung one.
Inside the clock app, where you set the alarm, there is a sort of a title/tab on top-left that says "Alarms". If you click that, you'll be able to go to a stopwatch. Alternatively, you can go there through the menu button. I am on Doc's V4 and haven't tried other ICS roms, so YMMV.
What I don't like about that stopwatch is two things: It does not use a fixed width font, so the numbers keep "shaking". And it does not keep the phone from going to sleep, which pretty much makes it unusable to me.
So, a big +1 to the OP request.
TW clock is ready
Search for Nexus TW Clock ICS. The only problem I have with it - font and buttons are too big. SOmewhere there is a scale - lcd density or something which is wrong.
There is one for Epic 4G - with perfect size and it does everything - World time, timer, stopwatch, but not alarm! Alarm FC'es.
WTF!
Mystery of apktool
I tried combining these two from Epic and Nexus using apktool and baksmali. The code is almost identical - only one class differs and it's Alarm related. The resources are vastly different in picture sizes and xml's with "dip" in Epic vs "pix" in Nexus. So anyway - I copied Nexus class to Epic, and copied Epic resources to Nexus. None of these two after smaling and apktool build (without errors) got recognised in Launcher - no icons in app drawer, no .odex file in dalvik.
Any experts to solve the mystery?
Mystery is solved
New release is coming... Check out my ROM within couple of hours.
Just copied classes.dex from Nexus ICS clock to Epic 4G clock. And optimized it as usual.
I am patiently waiting for that update, but in the meantime just wanted to say "thank you" for the pointer to the epic clock.

Try the ROM or rip the Clockpackage.apk from .zip.
I'm fine either way.
I'm checking Holo Calendar now. First try was disastrous - I had to wipe the data to restore calendar sync.

I pulled the clockpackage.apk from your rom. I copied to the system/app and rebooted. It didn't show up in my app drawer. So I rebooted into recovery and wiped cach partition, dalvik and fixed permissions. It still isn't showing up in my app drawer. Do you have any other suggestions? I'm running ICSSGS latest version.
Edit: Never mind. When I went into All Applications it was disabled. When I enabled it, it is working now.
Smart Alarm Problem
Thank you so much for updating the clock in Nostalgia!
I can't get the smart alarm function to work, though. No matter which smart alarm tone I choose, the "Good Morning" alarm sound plays. Am I missing something, or is there a glitch in the apk?
Thank you!
I installed the app for now, and it works great.
I am thinking about trying out your ROM, though, once 5.3 is out.

I am having the same issue as you were. I followed steps you mention (I copied to the system/app, rebooted into recovery and wiped cache partition, dalvik and fixed permissions).
When I go to settings/apps/all I do not see it there and so I can't enable it as you did. Am I missing something? What is the app named (maybe I missed it)?
I double checked the system/app folder and it is there.
I am running a Boogs latest CM9 Kang (clean) with Launcher Pro (free version).
Anyone have any suggestions?
TIA

I flashed it, and I like it, other than a couple of small problems that I can live with.
The Samsung Clock works great, and that makes me happy.

Here is a screenshot of what it looks like in the app list. Did you scroll all the way to the right and select all apps? Mine was at the bottom.

I had a similar problem until I found another thread with a solution. The solution was to add clockpackage.odex to system/app. I can't upload odex files, so it is attached in a .zip.
When you copy apk to /system/app - your permission on apk file get screwed up. Nice touch from FileManager writers. So you gotta fix them from the same Root Explorer or Browser to be 644 - read/write by owner, read by group, read by other.

[Q] Help with some stock-apps

Hey guys!
I've noticed that Sammy did a awful job when it comes to our stock Android.
I was a happy user of CyanogenMod but I really missed some Sammy stock apps and reverted back to stock ROM.
Now I'm creating a bareboned stock-based ROM for my personal use, but when I remove some apps, I noticed that they still appeared on my launcher.
On the /system/app directory, there is some Launcher*.apk files, where the * is something like AlarmClock, Browser, Calculator. The apps that I removed only disappeared when I deleted the matching Launcher*.apk too.
I wonder if there is some way to bypass this? By bypass I mean, remove the Launcher*.apk files and still have the icons on my launcher.
Thanks!
Maybe u can try using Root Uninstall.. See if it help u out to clean up all the apps that u wanted to remove include the system/app files also u can remove it easily....
here u can get the apps
link
Correct me if Im wrong ok.
Thanks for the help, but this is not what I want I think I wasn't clear enough. I want to remove the dependency of a second APK to show the icons on my launcher. Guess that is has been hard-coded by samsung. Oh god, why...
Try titanium backup, make backup then restore, I dunno why, but it worked for me with some apps. Or try a different launcher and see what happens.

I'm using Holo Launcher I'm gonna try it another time, maybe LauncherPro and ADW.
I noticed that this only exists in my Brazilian ROM, since this don't happens on the XWKTM. therefore, this thread isn't needed anymore. Thanks for those who helped!

using adb pull \system\framework\framework-res.apk, open as it were a .zip file, look for the current background in some drawable folder, replace it but don't change anything else inside the apk, push back to phone.
If you did something wrong you will get a bootloop, so keep a original copy of the apk file.

If you are using Apex launcher, go to Settings>Launcher>Drawer settings>Drawer background transparency and move the slider to 0%.

[REQUEST] AOSP Browser for Stock Android GE

Hi!
Android GE was recently released for flash (so a lot of people is really happy right now) and I KNOW is very early to ask for mods, but if someone could help with this, that would be great (lol)
I want to have the AOSP browser in GE, I tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173565 which is the mod for sense based roms that works in HOX, HOX+ and One but it did not work for the GE... so I also tried to use the broswer from the nightly of CM (put in system/apps and set permisions) but no luck (well i had to try :silly...
its just my opinion but I always feel the aosp browser more smooth than chrome or firefox etc, even the stock browser in sense (which is almost the same). maybe i need to wait until a deodexed rom?
well thanks in advance for any help
+1 I definitely agree, the AOSP browser is so much better.

Use root explorer (es file manager), set permission of /system to RW and copy the apk over then restart.
thanks, both methods works, they dont have 64 tabs and incognito mode but its ok, thanks again!!!
I tried both methods with no luck. Running rooted HTC one with GE Rom. Does the rom have to be deodexd?
I used ES file explorer to change permission of system/app to rw, moved browser apk into system/app, changed name of BrowserProviderProxy.apk and BrowserProviderProxy.odex with an added "1", then restarted. After boot, everything is back to normal, as though no changes were made. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Will try deodexer.
I installed it multiple time just with the AOSP browser installer found in the playstore. This i can guarantee that it will work.
Also i copied the sense browser from a sense zip to the system app folder. just set the permissions for both the broser and the sync apk.
worked for both deodexed and odexed roms, maybe a custom kernel with disabled system nand protection is required. Dont know exactly what i did but its working for me

I'm not sure what's going on. I tried the AOSP browser installer from play store. It goes through the steps, but when it asks me to reboot it does nothing. When I restart myself, it's like nothing happened. I'll try doing it with another ROM.
Just in case someone is having the same problem. Version 4.1.2 of the AOSP browser was not working for me but 4.1.1 worked fine.
