Vinyle skins for HD2

hey there friends,
I've been thinking of buying an HD2 for my wife as well. with scratching our names on the back out of consideration, we were thinking of getting a vinyl skin for our HD2s in order to make distinguishing between our phones ..
i just wanted to know if anybody here has been using gelaskins vinyl..http://www.gelaskins.com/catalog.php?DeviceID=103&CategoryID=56
or any other option..

Is it possible to open your cellphone with that on?

I think you stick on it in 3 parts, on above battery, one on the battery, and one below

yea, some of the skins showed the visible lines illustrating the three parts of the skin..

u can't find them in india i think but can be bought n shipped to india. shippping is just 5$$

You will probably never get a perfect fit with these. Its a good idea, but it will never look as good as the pics on the site. Just buy one of those tight fitting cases in different colors.

I have tried these with other phones before, the thing is they look nice when new but it only takes 1-2 months before the colors fade away and the corners to peel off. imho they are not worth 15-20$.

i've used decalgirl skin's vinyl for my PS3.. perfect fit n easy application/re-application. no fading till date(its abt 2 years old) but as phone will be kept on its back n keep rubbing the pouch while inserting taking out of it.. the fading might occur.

just bought some custom designed skins. im a sports enthusiast, so to no ones surprize I put my team's logo and everything on it. this was from zagg. had to pay a bit extra, but hoping it will look good. awaiting delivery. will post pics once I get it

custom skin
I got it from the zagg website(US). go to ZAGGskins tab at the top, then hd2. can't post an url according to this.
could not find a substiture for the customs ones. it's a bit more than the ones you can get off ebay. will defo review it once I get it. i live in aus so might be a week before I get it.

Zaggskins didn't impress as much as gelaskins..

White replacement parts

We all know about the OEM white battery cover.
Do other white parts for the DINC exist? I've been Googling for half an hour and haven't had any luck, thought someone here may have found something. If not, how hard would it be to order a new body and digitizer then turn them white?

They'll start selling the white ones soon, just have to wait I guess...

I cracked my digitizer at the top yesterday so i'm dying to replace it with white parts.... how long do you think it will be before they start popping up?

I wouldnt think they would now be making white parts for our phones....we can't even have wireless charging without modding....theres just not enough backing for our phones. I'm not saying it wouldn't be awesome but that just seems to be how it goes

Just thinking here that all the desire to have a white Dinc would be better served to just get an iPhone instead of trying to make a Droid look like it.
Don't put much stock in my thinking on this subject, black in my favorite colour (or lack there of) and white would be my least favorite colour next to brown. Guess I'm lucky it comes stock in black, no custom skins or anything needed to make it look it's best.

iPhones (at least the ones out now) aren't white. So its more like theyre trying to make it look less of an iphone than more to it.

One still has hers and the other upgraded to an DX.
The whole white thing just makes me think MAC/iPhone.

Looking like an iphone never crossed my mind when wanting a white phone. I just think it looks boss.
I may order the regular black parts online and paint them glossy white. If I do, i'll post a lot of high-res pics.

Probably just buy a new one... I think if they were to make white parts they would have done so already.

I'm thinking they're never coming... so when I get my parts, they'll be painted white. When I scrounge up the cash ill post pics

I don't think iPhone owns the color white ;P
Most of the iPhones have a metal backing anyhow, I think that white version is a customish sort of iPhone- similar to how HTC gives us an option to have a white backcover.
I'm looking for white parts too but guess I'll be waiting with the rest until (or if) they come out.

i got the black one, is the only one that looks good
red is too pinkish, and purple is ... pale, like washed out black
i wanted blue... but they don't have it

Thanks, ordered one w/screen guard for $10. Not bad .

Edit: I ended up ordering the 3-in-1 package deal (same seller). Hopefully the screen protector is decent, but if not - it's still a good deal for the case and car charger ($13.02 USD/includes the S/H).

it's like a hard case, same as the ones available for the SGS
it's more of a Fashion case, than protection case

I prefer soft cases. That does look sleek, though.

Oh. I thought it was a combination of a soft/and hard case? Still ordered it (too sexy not to!), but now I am thinking maybe I should have ordered a soft black gel case too. I'll order a soft case next time.

The only problem is that in the picture, the transparent plasticky look can be seen on the front edges. The black one's edge blends smoothly into the colour of the phone. Wish they had the Google written on the back ... with no "Samsung"
When someone gets it, can pictures be posted ... actually a short video clip of putting it on would be great as we can get the "feel" of the case

i compared both of the pictures... if you look carefully u can see that the black one seems as plasticky as the clear one, and the "Google" visibility was the reason for going for the clear one

Hey so I stumbled upon this site tonight.

Hmm, I'm pretty sure you won't get a "fully white" Nexus S because there will be some gaps when you apply the skin (due to Nexus S' shape -- something like the pic below.)

Definitely post pics please. I'm very very interested but I'd like to see it on someone's phone first.

I want to know how the front will look with the capacitive buttons on the bottom. When you design the skin, it looks like the front covers the whole bottom...

mine has arrived, i didnt design the front, so it was just white. I did however apply it just out of interest. It looked ok, perfect fit, but did cover the capacitive buttons (which still worked)
The back is really just a very well placed sticker, with a second part to attach to the 'chin', which i didnt bother with.
All in all, as you can see, it looks pretty good, and i will be ordering another darker one, this was just a quick test really

can you take a picture of the front? I'm curious to see how it looks.

I'm afraid I took the front off already, I'm ordering another soon and this time I shall design the front and show that as well.
It fit perfectly but was white and didn't show the screen at its best, and the screen is one of the most important things to me!

I found a Quality case

Thought i'd share a case I bought for my nexus s because I feel like they are all super cheap quality... Like hard plastic that scratches the phone and traps dust, or rubber that attracts dust and doesn't slide into your pocket right... And the brand name cases look ugly overall... I found this one on ebay for about $12. It's not too bulky, is hard put pliable, and looks good imo (its got pearl in it).

Wow, these actually look very nice with the marble-like look of the case. Especially looking at the black one, the front view of the phone with the case on almost looks like there's nothing on.
However, I don't like the branding on the back. While the "Nexus | S" is nice, the "Mercury, design by New York" is a dealbreaker. Shouldn't it be "designed IN New York?" Don't want a spelling mistake on my phone.

Well I'm not a fan of all that writing and the logo on the back to begin with so the grammar mistake was the dealbreaker.
Anyways, the white one looks pretty good and hides the logo and writing fairly well. Just wondering, how much bulk does it add? Considering it's a hard case, they are usually fairly bulky so I'm just wondering if you can compare it to any other case.

Truthfully i haven't tried any other cases, i just have an invisible shield on the phone. I'm not sure how to describe the "bulk" but it does make the phone feel larger in the hand. The back portion is also kinda thick so... overall it becomes a slightly thicker phone.

I want that white silicon case now ....

So I have a transparent/diamond plaid pattern TPU case and i'll get that shiny white TPU case in a lil while.
So many cases, too little time.

Merkery is a cheap brand
But very nice. I would try to remove the merkery branding doe..

I think that's what I will do. They're easy to scratch off, usually only need to use a cube of sugar and scratch it off.
