Hey guys, my ASIAN SGS is a locked SGS.
My problem is, i changed the reg files in kies so that i can get the FROYO update JPC using the thread [HOWTO+FAQ]Get Android 2.2 Froyo over KIES or ODIN.
However, when i did it, JPC is not available anymore so i updated to JM1 from JF4.
My question is, since my phone is now registered as a UK phone because of the update i did, and i heard that the IMEI, product code things are going to change if i update to JPC, will my phone be locked when i update to JPC next time since the JPC update that i will get is the UK update.
Will my SGS be locked if i get the JPC update next time??
guys
android 2.2 update ,is it still in beta ????

I would like to know if any of you have upgraded to Froyo in the way it was meant to be. By this I mean without rooting/flashing/Odin/regedit + Kies, I mean by simply connecting the phone and clicking on upgrade firmware in Kies and tada Froyo?
Reason I ask is I've heard that the official Froyo release is available in some countries but I want to know if it's true?
So if you have upgraded to Froyo by this way please post and also what country you're from.
I'm from South Africa and I'm still waiting.
There's been loads of posts about this, think it was just released to Nordic countries...

I tweaked the registry in Kies to get the JP6 update as froyo still isn't available in the UK. Samsung soon pulled the Swedish update for whatever reason.

I've upgraded to FroYo with Kies (without any reg hacks) and I could still get it a couple of weeks ago, didn't tried to flash my phone again tho, because all the problems I had, was gone, after I restored my phone from the recovery menu.
I'm in Denmark btw.
Wait, you mean we should be able to flash phone through KIES??
:O
Was already wondering what is kies all about..
Hey guys I'm currently at jp2 do I need to downgrade to stock eclair to be able to receive the official 2.2 update. I still dont see any update for my phone. I'm for the Philippines btw..
as far as i know , no.
I had the first wave from froyo on October and recently updated to the official one released in November.
Although i had froyo allready when i connected to kies it said that i had a firmware available.
Try connecting it to kies and see if you have that option when you click "Upgrade firmware"
If not it means that froyo hasn't arrived for your country and will be soon
thanks..maybe froyo would be available this month..
Froyo Update for Thailand? Just checked Kies and Froyo still not available. I'm currently running JPH, and Kies says no update available. Anyone in Thailand with any more info?

you can update ROM by using Odin if you can't update by Kies
How to update (Thai) >> www .droidsans . com/galaxy-s-froyo-update-available
Ok, so Im a little slow when it comes to this stuff. Im trying to understand how this works. I am from Canada living in Thailand. I bought the Galaxy here in Thailand with the expectation to take it home with me. I have looked at the firmware on the phone and tells me its DXJF4. I was wondering why I can not upgrade to Froyo using Kies? My understanding so far is I need to upgrade via ODIN or trick kies into thinking I have a different firmware for it to do the upgrade itself. So Im wondering what the difference is between JPH and JF4?
Also, has the update for Froyo not been released thru Kies in Thailand yet? Is that what the issue is?
Same situation
Hi,
I'm in the same situation, I'm living in Indonesia and on JG4. I bought the phone outright and it is rooted and unlocked. I have tried tricking kies with no luck and thinking trying odin now.
I have the JPO rom i downloaded for the UK, will this kill my phone if i flash to this European rom or do i have to download the update specificaly for JG4?
Thanks!
Lots of us are trying to get our phones back to Stock Firmware so KIES can update to 2.2.1 & at some point 2.3. In my case i9000T Latin America (TTT) model which seems to be very popular on the various US sites selling unlocked i9000 phones (New Egg & Expansys-us)
Many of us have used Euro 2.2 or 2.2.1 Firmware without issue using ODIN 1.3.
What happened in the process of applying the Euro firmware that keeps KIES from updating once you've rolled back to a stock firmware. In my case i9000TUBJH1 which is android 2.1 (ECLAIR.UBJI1) .
I've tried everything from changing the Product Code from KOR, TTT, PCW and any other one that might trigger KIES (1.5 or 2.0) in allowing the update.
I have 2 of these phones. One is untouched stock firmware. It was i9000TUBJG7 and after KIES update it's now (i9000TUBJP9 with a TTT Product Code). again, just trying to get my other phone back to stock and then update to 2.2.1 so both phones are the same.
Which file is KIES looking at to allow the update? CSC?
I'm not sure why the i9000T firmware is not readily available on samfirmware.
Thanks - many of us are just trying to learn the basics and spent hours reading these forums.
Try reading the last few pages of this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959806
why bother with kies anyway i have a 19000t.. just use odin and flash the stock rom form samsungfimrwares.com or a custom one like docs etc..
i am currently on jpy with jl2 modem.
also once you have clockwork on you can also flash one of docs roms via that.
or is it that you are trying to get a stock rom via kies. that is not on samsungfirmwares.com ?
if that is the case i think the reason may be that these stock firmwares were never release via kies?
I bricked my initial handset using KIES as it crashed during the update. Won't be using it again to flash my phone.

Samfirmware & i9000T
No sign of any i9000T (TTT) Latin America firmware on Samfirmware.com. The latest update via KIES for this phone was about 10 days ago. Version i9000TUBJP9 which installs 2.2.1.
Again, just trying to get back to stock. I'll be passing this phone to another user at some point and they'll need KIES to keep it simple.
Any help in understanding what keeps KIES from updating after you've installed stock 2.1 firmware would be great.
I'll keep reading ...
thanks
Kies reads the codes from the phone .
Firmware 2.2 Product Code Vodaphone Hardware ID Vodaphone .
Looks for update for the product code if all matches downloads .
Product Code stock Hardware ID stock matches nothing on its Database = no update .
Route back i have used is flash Eclair spoof product code via Kies registry patcher . Upgrade and save rom at the same time to enable reflash to product codes firmware .

Did you manage to get the update from Kies? You would do a great service if you can share the firmware.
Kies looks at the product code. I replied to your other post.
Since Gingerbread is being pushed out to Galaxy S's at the moment, I'd like to flash back to a Vodafone rom so that I can update through Kies when Gingerbread is available in the UK, anyone know how I could do this?
Thanks
From your saved Vodaphone rom or from another persons saved Vodaphone rom .
Or by using Odin to flash to stock Eclair then Kies for official update and also SpoofFW may be needed .
