Copy and paste from within emails to notepad - Sprint HTC Hero - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Posting this for a friend
Copy and paste from within emails to notepad - Sprint HTC Hero I am trying to copy some text from within an email (either gmail or yahoo) to paste to my notepad. This is using Sprint's HTC Hero. I cannot seem to do it. If I long press the screen, I come with "copy text" and then I can drag my finger to copy some text, but only within that one screen - if the text I want to copy is more than one screen, then it is impossible. I have read threads and suggestions that you use shift and s etc., but don't see how that's possible because if I'm reading my gmail, there is no keyboard to use, and no options for a "shift" key. Anyone got any ideas?

I want to have text messages go into their own folder, is that possible?

I was wondering if there is any way to have text messages go into separate folders when they are sent to my phone. Example: have my girlfriends messages go into a folder with her name on it and my friend’s messages go into another folder named "friends"?
the best thing to on this issue is search google or the tytn 2 wiki page

Click to collapse
You can't do copy and paste from gmail app. Whenever I need to do that I use the browser version (gmail.com)

I can do this on the Opera app, but not on the gmail app.
Press Menu -> More -> Select Text -> Copy.
Copy and paste requires ridiculous acrobatics and renders these phones as toys. I received one to test for our work fleet roll out and was shocked at the terrible text editing capabilities and near impossible copying from the browser.
This is after using win5,6 phones.
It seems the pda phone is truly dead with all the multimedia phones around. Particularly the lack of buttons...
Try the copy paste app from market. It even has OCR built in. Its really very easy even to copy text from images.

To copy you should hold a texbox and copy all or whatever.

Adding a subject to your title - other then one word "Help" will get more responses.

[Q] Dumb question - but I can't find the answer in the manual. How to cut and paste?

Sorry for this basis request - but how do I cut and paste text from a website/doco/email etc etc and paste them between SMS and emails etc?
Have read the manual and tried touch and hold, drag to highlight etc and nothing seems to work
Thanks
Google search found this:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...+copy+paste+Galaxy+S&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=au
But it only applies to copying text from a webpage - nothing about copying from one email/SMS to another??
Surely it must be possible - iPhones can do it dammit
I don't see any select text feature on the built in email & gmail app.. but for SMS, there is a "Copy Text" feature and if you want to select a text, forward the message first then "Select Text".
cut /paste from other sources, for example a browser , is being added in android 2.2 . thts so far what i know
I got Froyo on the SGS, so I've no idea what here is new and what was already there on 2.1.
1) Browser - long touch anywhere on the page opens a small box that you can drag to surround what you need, and then you got copy/share/search.
2) SMS - inside a message - menu > 'copy message text'.
3) GMAIL app - inside a mail - Menu > more > select text. You drag to select and it's copied to the clipboard (no share/search/etc, only directly copying to clipboard).
4) A long touch on any input box brings up a select/copy/paste/cut/etc context menu.
I'm still trying to find a way to copy/paste from a gmail chat...

how to copy + paste from browswer

I am running Perception 5. I would like to copy 5 paragraphs(just short sentences) from the browser then paste it to a text field say facebook, messaging, etc. I can highlight one paragraph but not all. How do I do it?
The page is not an html webpage but just plain txt file.
Long press the first word and then drag the slider to the left. Like that you can select as many words you want
