Just wondering if there is a way to replace touchwiz with launcher pro and ensure that touchwiz isn't using memory? When I user launcher pro as the default tw still uses memory and makes my phone run even slower. An example of the speed difference is in neocore I usually get 55.4 fps but with launcher pro running I only get 52 fps

Omg. 3fps slower. Noooooo.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Your not going to notice a difference of 3fps. Your just being paranoid.
You are making a wrong assumption there.. Firstly, that represents a 6% slowdown only.. Barely anything.
Secondly, how do you know it's because Touchwiz is running. Isn't it possible that Launcherpro uses more resources than Touchwiz?
Short of installing one of the new roms without touchwiz no.

touchwiz is not using any memory when you set LauncherPro as default
you can easily verify that when you run any Task killer program that shows hidden active apps like SystemPanel,
download Home Switcher http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765081
and make LauncherPRO default

I am getting a lot of home screen lag. I am currently running 1.5 OC. I have tried different settings and speeds with SETCPU. Performance, interactive, etc. The home screen lags when switching screens, I am running a static wall paper. I even removed all widgets and still get the same thing. The only thing I can do is reboot my device and sometimes it works, but once I unlock my device a few times it goes back to lag on the home screen. When I say lag I mean choppiness when sliding the screen. Although, in applications it works just fine. It forced me to move to launcher pro.
However, I would like to stay with the default launcher, since it has the UL elements that make honeycomb "pop". Any help would be awesome, thanks.
:: Sorry wrong place. Please move MOD::
I was having the same problem but switching settings in setcpu fixed it, I forget what setting I have now, I am in a meeting and can't check but I think it was interactive. Give that another shot and leave it for an hour or so and then try it.

Whenever it happens to me I just go to settings>applications and force stop the launcher. Clears it up without a reboot.
It happens so much to the point where I'll be force stopping it all the time.
@laxwillsch can you confirm your settings for me please?
I'm running @ 1.4ghz on interactive and my launcher is smooth.
How are you running launcher pro? Did u copy it from your phone? I searched and can't find it...
I am running interactive at 1.5 max and min all the way down. Absolutely no lag since I switched off performance. I heard using performance screws with the launcher because it doesn't wake fast enough. I gotta say I was a little worried when I had all that lag, I don't want any lag for $ 640, but now I am a happy camper.

Keep in mind that the default settings for Launcher Pro are not adequate for tablets. You will need to change the row/column settings along with some other tweaks to make it work best on tablet. There is a thread dedicated to this somewhere in the General forum. If you need help, just ask in that thread or start a new one for help.

I was talking about the home screen launcher.
I can't take this anymore...
I'm doing a factory reset... I'm only reinstalling the essential applications. Let's see what happens..
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone is running this launcher on their phone and if it lives up to the hype. 15 dollars is kind of much for an app but this thing looks awesome.

Not running it, looks pretty sweet though. Wondering how much battery life gets used.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
I tried it with my Nexus S.
Guess what, it used up 55mb of RAM for launcher itself and 20mb for the widget.
Battery life was normal, just keep in mind that you cant run much apps otherwise, it will kill your launcher
I tried every launcher in the market (waste too much money through, but it worth for a experience and choose the best for myself).
I stick to MIUI launcher (iphone style).
I suggest you to try REGINA 3D launcher, is it pretty much the same
However, it's FREE
I tried the beta before it was on the market and liked it. I bought it when it came to market. I'm very happy with it. I don't use all the time. I switch back and forth between the stock launcher and the SPB. It sure is great to show to you I-phone loving friends. It's the WOW factor.
I'm using it and I love it! Its expensive! For an app
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Well if love the app, then its worth it. But I'm not sure if I'm gonna get it, but maybe sometime in the future. I'm still using the gingerbread launcher and its going pretty good. Ha. Not to many features, but its alright.

No scrollable widgets, resource hog = fail
Remember when SPB didn't make bloated software???
Oh wait..
m on stock n it works like a charm .. i got it cracked ..
battery life is like barely 3-5% drain more but u expect tht .. yea ram is eaten up but ur still left with arnd 100mb which is more than enuf to run anything ..
i remember on my milestone being happy when i got 45mb free
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVU84J1ShSQ
I bought it and I wish I didn't its not for me I went back to Go Launcher. I like to hide the status bar and I like swipes among a few other things that Shell don't offer. I wish I would of tried it first. Oh well you live and you learn
It's the only launcher I've used since it came out, love it. Battery life has been stable, I charge over night and it lasts me all day.

I just get force close after force close on my ns4g. I'm running cm7 nightly 63, and the matr1x 5.5 kernel.
Tried a "free" version and paid, same result.

Same thing here !
I bought mobile shell 3d 2.1 and it gives me a black screen on start up !
I'am also using ns4g
I have no problems with spb on my NS4G. Runs wonderfully.

Every time I run Angry Birds, SPB reloads in my Nexus S. I'm going back to my Go Launcher...
Tried this and had no problems with it but its a bit too much "stuff" really. I prefer to keep it simple, so I'm not really using it.

I'm the proud owner of spb mobile shell 3d. It's has been a while since I launch it, but I never had a problem with it.

Ive used it as my main launcher for a while now but im going to seek others soon as it never gets updates with new widgets and uses 75mb ram on my ns. Also the loading is a ***** especially when it fc when u need your phone :s
so far so good
Using it for couple of days, its a RAM hog, battery life is no different from Zeam. but it freezes in sms and call widgets. yaa too expensive, they are working on a real3D screen now... hope i get my regular updates. it has a diff color temperature..my nexsus s visually looks like its 2.3.1
Used it about one month as main launcher. For me it was too much design and not enough speed + it freezed a couple of times. At the end I can say nice but stock is better.

Hello
I have been using the golauncher ex on my Note and for some reason there is a lag in the home screen transition and also the general functioning of the phone has become slower. It works perfect on the stock touchwiz launcher. Can anyone please tell me why this is....and if there is anyway to fix it.
U ll have to root your phone.. These launchers apparently have this lag issue which can be eliminated by rooting your phone.. No lag with a rooted phone whatsoever...

cannot confirm this, "only" rooting without changing some stuff afterwards wont gain you anything...
launcher lag can be reduced by tweaking it's settings, use a different kernel with proper governor and settings (search the forum, i could recommend abysnote 3.6, lulzactive, ramp up 4, max. 1,6GHz) or consider a change to 240 DPI mode (through build.prop edit or app which does this for you): but 240 DPI has some issues (dialer, smemo, snote,... wont work perfect)!
I meant rooting ur phone to flash custom roms...

Question given, i still use Advanced task killer, but I see not much else people do.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA Premium App
There is NO point using a task killer on Android, as it will only load the needed/wanted stuff back into memory and thus using even more battery than NOT killing the task.
thanks for the heads up, good to know.
what about ram manager apps (like RAM Manager Pro)? I have f**ked my phone a few times with ram tweaking so I'm skeptic with these and don't really wanna test until I'm clearly sure.
I used to use ram tweaker programs but now just use spica123's hp mod or v8 superscript. Just searck xda for them.

Using v6 its pretty cool.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA Premium App
Generally it is discouraged to use any kind of task killler on gingerbread because it messes with the built-in memory manager. If by any chance you are using froyo or earlier version of android, then it is ok.
As for the v6 supercharger, I'm using it too.
oops I meant V6, Just wanted more power
Just as stevvie said, you will kill the apps for a few seconds, but they will just reload again. It kills your battery.
Also, I've noticed that sometimes apps that weren't even running before the killing launch after the killing (i.e. you kill 10 apps, 12 apps launch a couple of seconds later).
Most importantly, your widgets can get messed up, unless you exclude the widget app in ATM.
I recently rooted my galaxy note, and freezing some system apps did make some difference from earlier almost unusable note. Recently while searching for ram booster on play store I came across this app called Ram Booster (root) by Gejos Enterprise, it has got mostly 5 stars but it requires root to modify configuration and people under feedback do notice difference in performance, has anyone of you tried this and any expert recommend this?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
i use titanium backup to freeze all the bloatware and greenify to save battery and prevent user apps from stay working in the background.
you can use swapper to increese ram but first your kernel must support swapping.
if you want a big difference flash stock gingerbread or checkrom.
Most of ram booster apps in the market are task killer (not very useful) so greenify and titanium backup are better.
