Hi I am new here. Please guide on how to enable the Audio Gateway preference feature in my XDA IIs. The latest Broadcom Build 3500 doesn't help. I am dying to listen music through my BT headset. I know the sound quality will not be good, but I really like to listen music wirelessly. Please help. Thank you.
Please guys, really need some help here
Bump, we all want this - anyone had any joy with this yet?

The music from the one-sided analog bluetooth headset is very lousy unless you get the digital headset from NextLink.
In Malaysia you can get it here:-
http://www.bluenext-tech.com/contact_us.htm
Also, lisening from your bluetooth headset will drain your headset battery very fast.
Alternatively, you can get the iPHONO bluetooth headphone or the HP bluetooth headphone instead which gives very good quality sound.

I know about the HP stereo BT headset and I know with a mono BT headset it will produce lousy quality music but the problem is that my XDA IIs still does not have the Audio Gateway preference (even upgraded with the latest BT patch and the unofficial BT patch). U can check it at the Bluetooth settings and choose the headset/handsfree service part then tap on advance. Only telephone voice calls preference is supported. I had seen the ipaq's h6300 series, it does have 2 preferences for its headset/handsfree settings where one is for telephone voice calls and another is the Audio Gateway preference. Even if I buy the stereo headset, it still won't play any music coz the Bluetooth does not have that service preference (unless that stereo headset package provides a upgrade to the current Broadcom stack). Hope u get what I mean here.
Damn Broadcom and O2! It is such an expensive device but does not have the feature of a lesser device like h6300 series
Just read a thread that registry tweaking can be done but the information is kinda messy. Hope u guys can help me out here. Thanks.
i have the same problem. same exact problem. grrr.. XDA IIs with a treo 650 headset. i only lack the servie for audio gateway. i want this to work so badly even with the poor quality. if anyone please help.
stereo - Blueangel - possible?
Anyone up to this yet?
I've found the thread, but, as you say is kinda lousy... If only I could understand how to make it, I would help to make a wiki...
Anyone else the same experience? Contrary to almost every other WM device I have used in the past, the voice sound quality both on BT headsets and on parrot carkits is way below par. It sounds thin and metallic.
When using the speaker on the device itself (held up to your ear) the quality is excellent, so to me there is a major flaw in the the BT implementation on the Kaiser. The x7500 sounds way better, so it's not the OS itself.
Finally, someone else with good hearing
I have exactly the same issue. Even it's tolerable but is some situations it's very hard to hear the other party. Doesn't matter what headset I am using - Nokia BH 900, Jabra JX10 2 or Jawbone - they all sound thin. I really hope that there is something in registry that can be changed to resolve this. Or maybe a different DLL. In fact, this is the only complain that I have about Kaiser. I've tried this suggestions but none of them worked unfortunately.
Increase Audiogateway capability:
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Bluetooth/AudioGateway/Capability
(Dword:69)(Default is 37)
[I'm assuming this is a bitrate setting, but not sure how this differs from those above]
4-Change the Bluetooth channel from the default:
HKLM\Softare\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Device
From there open the subfolders and find those labeled channel. The DWORD key value is the channel number. Change the number to something other than the default.
[i've only tested up to channel 7 because I'm not sure how many channels there are. This seems to have improved issues with interference and intermittent drops, but these issues seem to have more to do with where the device is in relation to the headphones than anything else. You'll have to experiment to see what works best with your gear and environment.]
5-Increase the Bluetooth microphone sensitivity:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway\Mic Volume
(DWORD:10)(Default:5)
6-Increase Bluetooth earpiece volume:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway\Spk Volume
(DWORD:10)(Default:5)
[again experiment to see what works best with your headset and environment]

Ouch. Just came out of an escalation meeting for which I was forced to use the TyTN II for almost an hour over my Sony Ericsson HBH pv705 headset, and I have to rephrase my first post.
The audio quality is leaves not just a bit to be desired, it is just blatantly bad!
That, I feel, is the only *real* letdown of the TyTN II
Have exactly the same issue here. Was using it today in the car using the Mercedes bluetooth kit, and the sound was very thin and tinny. On my Hermes the sound was full and fine.
It's like listening to one of those shortwave type radios
OK. Now we have to determine is that :
Hardware issue
or
Software issue.
I've briefly used one of the preproduction units back in June and as far as I remember BT was OK. But I can't be sure 100%.
Anyone still using pre-pro units? Please, check how BT headset sounds like.
I really, really hope that this is software issue. Otherwise I am afraid that I am not going be able to keep the unit .
Sorry to put this into the mix but I have actually superior sound quality using a Parrott Car Kit and a Motorola Stereo Headset as compared to previously using these devices with my Hermes device with the newer WM6 ROM's.
I have made no changes but just wanted to share my experience.

It's probably due the fact that car kit has already plenty of bass and stereo headset is using a2dp. My stereo BT headset sounds good as well.
Handset itself sounds good, wired handset sounds good. Again, I really hope that there is a way to change something in software that will fix this problem. i guess, we have to wait until device is in more hands and some hackers will find the way
In that case, my second addition to the mix to counter yours. Aside from my SE PV705 I also have a Parrot carkit (3200 LS-Color) and I have the same poor audio quality over bluetooth ...
bt
same here ,i paired it with my car and it's worthless..i can hear the person but they can't hear me.this the worst bluetooth phone ever.

Just damn! Flagship HTC device... It's better be software fixable.
Using Sony BT Stereo headset - quality pretty good - better than TyTN.

We are not talking about stereo A2DP quality. Again, stereo BT sounds very good to me as well.
nono - this is simlpy the voice call quality through these headphones - not using the A2DPprotocol - just headset protocol.
R
I use the Sony MEX-5000BT headunit in my car in handsfree mode. I've used it with both the Kaiser & Wizard, and I can't tell any difference in sound quality between the two phones in handsfree mode.
A2DP is a different story -- the Kaiser is much better.
I'm having the same BT issues with my phone. Voice quality on my original TyTN was great through BT. But with the TyTN II, it is sub par.
OK, this is rally confusing. As far as i know all units have the same ROM/Radio builds. Or are they?
Let's start to put numbers:
Mine
ROM 1.56.405.5
Radio 1.27.12.11
protocol 22.45.88.07H
BT is too quiet and tin.

What type of device you have been using previously?
When you switch from handset to BT headset on the fly do you hear difference in voice quality? Doesn't seems like BT headset doesn't have the same frequency range as a handset?
Is it any way to increase quality of call via bluetooth.
I have superb sound when I am listening to music (A2DP) so I think tah is possibel to increase quality of call sound cause it is a bit crapy.
Any advise?
When you are listening to music you are using the A2DP BT profile, which is designed for stereo and gives good sound quality. But when you use a BT headset for phone calls it has to use BT headset or handsfree profiles. These are mono and have poorer sound quality (I have heard it described as AM not FM radio quality. Having said that the quality on mine is acceptable for a phone call, and is certainly up to the standard of the phone speaker itself. But it will never be as good as A2DP.
tnx for your answer but do not get me wrong I am not expecting stereo and hifi quality in phone call. I am only saying that phone call quality is worse via BT then without an I am asking is there any tweak so I can improve it.
When I first tried listen music via A2DP it was awful but after some reading here i found tweak and it is working just wonderful!

Hi
wats the the tweak please can u share it with us.
thx.
I just installed the new mxp panel... I have no idea what these options are:
Stereo on/off
RDS on/off
TA on/off
AF on/off
can someone explain what each mean and stand for and do?
Hi,
Stereo on/off => ?
RDS on/off => Radio Data System (display Station Information's)
TA on/off => Traffic Assistent (the radio switches to other
station, when there comes traffic information)
AF on/off => alternative Frequency (the radio can switch to an other
frequenz, when this signal is stronger)
hope this helps
Hello. How can I get this radio ?
Is it compatible with itje's Touch-IT 6.5/Manila image ?
Many thanks
S
As the thread title states, this is the radio in the R3A Media Panel.
You can find it in various places. I got it from here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478022
This is one chef that has a really cool ROM (because its fast) in my opinion and he has included some packs that contain various apps.
Download the Panels Pack then install MXP_MR2_R27_35200_signed.cab
The radio should be compatible with that image.
sterio or mono
Sterio on/off
Sterio is like surround sound and gives that 3d sound feel, more crisp and better sound quality
Mono is a dull sound not crisp but cuts out a lot of hiss and background noise you may get from radio transmisions
i never use mono that sound quality is terrible just like listening to am radio but if its a talking radio show with less music then mono is ideal for you.

Stereo refers to dual channel sound and Mono just to single channel sound.
In general...mono sound can be equally crisp as stereo sound. The "crispness" of a sound has nothing to do with the fact that the sound is stereo or not. It depends on bitrate, and other factors. Not to mention that in this example : 96kbit stereo mp3 and a 256kbit mono mp3... the mono mp3 will sound a lot better... Anyway back to radios >
"If your radio hisses on stereo but not on mono it could be because it is receiving a weak signal. This happens because radio receivers need a stronger signal to decode the stereo component of a signal than for the mono component. A weak signal can be caused if you are too far from a transmitter, or by large buildings or hills blocking the signal path."
If you listen to your radio thru the phone's loudspeaker, you might as well use mono. It will sound better than stereo in a weak signal area, and even if you have a strong signal...you won't be able to notice the difference since you have only one speaker
Jees
Someone has a stick up there crack
Just trying to be helpfull, its not my fault u need to take out ur anger on a public forum.
MY apolologies for not giving the exact, specific terms you could have just corrected me rather than offending.
Well im sorry poetryrocksalot for misleading you and causing you misery on this as my explination was totally out of my ass
Myea...I guess I owe you an apology as well.
Tense week for me up until now.
I didn't mean to be rude...

Yeah but when i listen through me headphones, I still cant determine the difference between stereo on or off. That was I expected to hear, but I couldn't spot a difference. Perhaps software is conflicting with the stereo function.
I also notice that installing the new R3A Media Panel disables my old standalone Radio Panel? How about you guys? Do you have software conflicts with the radio and media panel?
this probably also depends on your radio station as well. in most of the songs u cant hear much diffenernce at all in stero or mono.
all i can tell u ... its working for me
Okay you guys, I got some news:
1) If stereo mode is on, then you will hear tremendous static when listening via Xperia's speakerphone.
2) If stereo mode is off, then you will hear crystal clear music from the radio. Wow!!!
3) I have not tested how stereo affects the headphone sound quality.
4) I suggest turning TA (Traffic Assistant) and AF (Alternate Frequency) off. This is because 5 minutes ago I was listening to 102.7 and then it switched to 103 for no reason. It's more annoying then it is helpful.
5) I love the RDS feature of Radio, I can finally know what song is played on the radio.

1&2...I hear normal quality music with either settings....Maybe it's just your radio station?
4 ... Traffic Announcement can be quite annoying sometimes, but it can inform you of potential accidents, road condition etc. And AF is only helpful if the radio station provides the AF information (some stations don't)
5 ... Quite a cool feature, too bad not all of the radio stations (at least here) take advantage of it. Some just display the name of the radio station and that's all.

For 1 and 2... try extending your earphones as far up towards the windows as possible, make sure you get the best reception. Then switch to mono and stereo and you will notice the difference.
hello every body
IN THE BOARD OF FM RADIO of my HTC HD2 I HAVE A PROBLEM INSTEAD OF MONO STEREO I HAVE BUT IN REALITY
I MUST HAVE NOT STEREO AND MONO
AND FOR THE VOLUME Even dumb KIT AND EAR AND SPEAKERS
HELP ME PLEASE and soory i cant more say i am not good in english
Hello,
i have the Xperia Z3compact for over One Year.
I'm on the road every day, so I use the Sennheiser Presence Bluetooth Headset for any call.
My only Problem is when calling; other's hear me to low! They have to increase their speakers to maximum and had problem to hear me. The Sound Quality is very good but they here me too low.
I have tested every Rom from (original) Android 4.4.4 over 5 Lollipop Versions (stock and rooted Rom's) and now on the newest Sony Android 6.0.1
-all with same bad results
When I'm calling with the Phone (without Headset) all here me perfect and loud.
But not with the BT Headset!
Then i have tested Cyanogenmod Cm12.x and wow the Problem with Bluetooth headset is completely gone
All here me loud and perfect!
But on CM the camera Quality is gone and I have the fisheye problem.
Now the big question:
why is the BT Headset outgoing mic volume louder than on any other Rom's?
And is there any option to increase the Bluetooth outgoing mic volume with a rooted (stock) Rom?
I know about the mixer_paths.xml file.. but no one ever, write here; How to tune the Bluetooth outgoing Mic volume!?!
All only tune the z3c inside mic's and speakers..
CM Mod is nice but buggy there is no stable Version and the cam quality is crap.
So please, if any one have a idea what I can try? to increase Bluetooth Mic Volume!
Help me!
Information:
The Problem is not my Hardware...
I have tested the Bluetooth Headset with other Smartphone without problems!
I have tested the Headset with another new Z3compact -same result other here me to low on BT Headset Calls.
So there is no Hardware defect.
PS: Sorry for my bad English.
Hope someone can help me
Alex from Germany
