Hi,
I am looking for the stock Captivate Clock app to be able to install it on my wife's Aria. She really likes the smart allarm option.
You should be able to find it in the stock dump here:

OK that leads me to the next question.
How to extract apps from the rom. I tried to install the .apk file but it failed. Also tried to copy .apk and .odex files to system/app folder with same result.
PS Excuse my noobiness, but i am new to android, coming from WM.

You could look for the Alarm Klock app in the marketplace, it has a smart alarm feature and easier to configure options. Plus you can remove the notification icon! And its free. Also you can use mp3s on the device meaning you can edit the mp3 volume to fade in yourself.

Thank you , will look into it.
I'm basically not going to use the default Clock app for alarms, Alarm Klock does exactly what I want it to.
Buying klaxon from the market supports clockwork. It's my favorite that I've found. He has a free version to try. Plus combined with genie, it makes a nice dock screen.

Hi guys,
I was wandering why cyan keeps messing with the alarm clock. One update he will have 2 sounds, the next (4.3) has only the crappy non hearable buzzer sound. Also his ROMS only allow up to 10 alarms to be set. I'm a hard sleeper takes more lol. I was wandering if it was possible to use the original alarm clock used in donut and if so where can I get it from.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Go into system/apps and replace old with new and reboot.
Please provide me with a link to do so.
Thanks,
Nick
You can add notifications...
no u can't.
only sound notification is the buzzer sound.
Yes, you can.

or:
/sdcard/media/audio/alarms
because adding to notifications they may not show in the alarm clock app.

Entirely unnecessary, if you have them in the correct structure, they won't show in your media player.
/sdcard/media/audio/alarms
/sdcard/media/audio/notifications
/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
/sdcard/media/audio/ui
that is how Android expects to find them, and if they are like that it won't pick them up in the music player.
Thank you all for your help. All the info I needed has been provided. Thank you for the link to the audio files.

I dunno if this is the right thread about my problem, but it has to do with the alarm clock.
Some how when i goto pick my alarm i have the default Buzzer sound along with 3 other of the same name. and ive searched the sdcard and the root sys for the these files but fail to find them.
what started it was i tried to download a ringtone through the browser and could never find it on the system or in the ringtones list... some how they ended up in the alarms list.
and help would be great
The official Twitter app used to come with a custom notification sound file called Tweeters. Though on my recent installs of the Twitter app the sound file is not present in my memory card or in the app. I believe Twitter may have taken out the sound. Does anyone have this notification file still, if so I'd love to have it. It was very useful.
Here you go!
holy s*** thanks

There is a little sneeze sound that twitter makes when you refresh it and I want it! Is there anyway to go into some type of root folder and extract that sound?
How do i get custom notification sounds to list? I have a few sounds in a folder i'd like to use, but when i go to pick the notification sounds for email or SMS, i cannot pick my sound. there are just the normal stock sounds to choose from.
I have also tried Ringdroid but i always get a FC.

You don't need Ringdroid.
Setup the following folders at the root of your memory card: alarms, notifications, ringtones
The tones held in these folders will list in the corresponding settings.
And there you have it. I knew it was simple. Thanks!

Actually, those need to go under a /media/ folder on your sdcard.

Hi!
I had a galaxy s before, and I really loved the "Good morning" wake up tone in the smart alarm. Could someone please export it, and upload it somewhere so I could use it on my current phone? Thanks!
best regards, SteMa
u mean the small music.. slowly making u awake every morning? with the slowly improving sound ( 5 minutes before actual alarm goes off )
i love it
ive been looking around my phone for you but didnt find the tune yet. its not a normal tune i guess..
That's exactly what I'm looking for! It was pleasing to wake to that It must be a normal tune, but maybe renamed and hidden in the system :S But I would really like to have it
yeah i guess it is the functionality "smart alarm" .. hidden somewhere
Pm to me with email, i will send it to you...
What?! How can you like this? I hate this goddamn alarm, lol
If I have to wake up to something anyway, this should be the tune
bayerischbeer: sent, thx!
edit: well at least I hope this is the one I liked Is this the one the sprinkling and flute nature-like tune?

how can u hate this alarm.. you wake up so quiet with this alarm.. so joyful.. relaxing..
its the best way of getting wake up by an alarm instead of some clock doing EEP EEP EEP EEP EEP
I think you're after:
/system/media/audio/ui/Morning.ogg
That's the one that sounds like flutes and running water...
/system/media/audio/alarms/Good_Morning.ogg is quite 'loud' and jarring by comparison...
I'd upload it... But apparently I can only upload from the gallery, music player or voice recorder??! Wtf?
If I remember, I'll upload it tomorrow my from desktop...

u never mentioned u are a fruit-user ! shush out of our forums u !
I was always planning to tell you that after I got what I want I was unsatisfied with the gps in the sgs, it was a bit big to handle, and the lack of led-flash... The iphone came in our country and with a contract, it's at a reasonable price (when I bought the sgs, the iphone was 2.5x more expensive (gray import))
Great thanks for the morning.ogg
I like to wake up with the smart alarm. But I disable it because it doesn't have SNOOZE - If I Stop it apparently the alarm doesn't play 5 minutes after...
Can someone please tell me how I can flash these files into the current ROM I'm using? I'm relatively new, so I don't know how to create flashable files so I can install stuff into the system

Thanks for the files exadeci!
I listened to these files on my computer and it doesn't sound like the volume increases as the file plays.
When I use the Smart Alarm, the sounds gets louder and louder as the file plays.
Does the Samsung Smart Alarm app increase the volume or is the volume increase supposed to be part of the file?

Can you just point your alarm clock to play these files? I think they are regular sound files that you can tell your alarm app to use.
tone
please can someone send me this tone??? my email is [email protected]

It's very simple... If you want to use any sound as an alarm or ringtone, you just have to convert your song into *.ogg and place it in the internal SD card.
Then, unplug USB and the phone will scans your new files.
After that, you can use your song as ringtone or alarm!

Just download a ROM, no matter which one (stock or custom), and open it with winrar, then go to :
system/media/audio/alarms or notifications or ringtones
You'll find here all the sound used by the phone!
Take the file you want to use then, and place it into your phone to use it
I can add ringtones but can't see a way to add notification sounds.

Add them to the "notifications" folder within your phone. I have been doing this for years since I like to use the same ringtones and notifications no matter what phone.

I know where the notifications folder is and can browse to it with es file explorer. It's a read only folder so it won't let you copy anything in there unless you have root access.

Plug it into your PC, set the phone into MTP mode (not ptp mode) and copy the files from your PC to phone. This is what I do, it won't let me upload a screen shot from my settings otherwise I would be able to show you mine.

You're right. Doh!
I'm fairly new to Android and tried adding it in the system folder which is write protected.
Another question. Is there a way to not make the ringtones I've added show up in the music app? I only want my albums to show up and not random ringtones and notifications.
No rooting needed!

Just got a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and I was bummed that I could not add my own notification tones. Then I found this forum and am I glad that I did because now I can add my own notifications by connecting my phone to my laptop and transferring the tones to the Notifications folder! Most awesome thing ever!:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I don't know if it works but a .nomedia file in the folder might keep it hidden
