Like the topic says I need to root my phone without internal or external SD card access.
I would like to do this so I can try to backup my nv_user and related files before I try another partition since I have had no luck finding a solution to being able to mount my external or internal sd cards.
I have the "Mount Point absent or incorrect." error dialog showing up in my status bar.
I tried searching for solutions to both problems but Have been unlucky so far.
For sgs u definitely have a internal sd.
you definitely have an internal sd-card. however if you want to do it without or have problems with it you can flash a kernel+su with odin: thread on samdroid
cheers, jo

Phone says neither them are mounted. Same as in the recovery mode. When I check the sd card and memory in the settings menu both are unavailable. It says I am running off 2 gigs of system memory.
So yes I have an internal sd card. It just won't mount and in recovery mode it won't be found.
That's why I said it wouldn't mount. Not that it didn't exist.
I trying not to flash the phone until I can make a back up of thee nvdata files. So I will check the kernel flash and hopefully it won't effect the nvdata. But I'm guessing it does.
I should have stated a different Title for this thread as my real problem is either Int/Ext SD card corruption or something else deeper within the phone.
I will try formatting it with ubuntu like someone else suggested. That will have to wait until I get home and take a bit since I have no linux experience.
Also, the memory *2gb is showing is labelled as Internal Phone Storage.
Thanks
I'm assuming this has to do with the fact that your phone wont flash anyfirmware after JPC right?
Let me know how it goes.
I can flash but it took some messing around. None of the other firmwares even the stock bell one are stable now and I have no access to either the int or ext sd card. Just the 2gb internal non-sd memory. And after JPC my signal is pretty messed up.
My (wifes) phone now also says internal sd card unavailable.
Is there a solution to this? Happened after I upgraded from JH2 to JM6. The same upgraded process worked on my phone (followed the guide exactly).
Guys, just have a look around these forums or use the search button. This is the most common issue with the I9000M and there is no need for another thread about it.

[Q] Failed to move application. Not enough memory" when trying to move applications.
I've been using my google skills to try to figure this one out, but unfortunately, I did not find a single helpful post. I'm hoping someone can help.
When trying to move an application to the internet SD card, I get the error "Failed to move application. Not enough memory".
Problem is, I have 1.7GB left "On phone" and 11.3GB left "On SD Card". I'm using Apps2sd to report how much storage is left and to determine which applications can be moved.
I have read that if I had an external memory card, it would work. But I want to know if there's something that can be done so that we can move them to the internal SD instead.
From what I saw on a Nexus One, it appears that other Android phones don't have an internal SD card. So it would make sense that it moves it only to the external SD...
I just want input on this "problem", I'd really like to know why I can't use my 16GB of storage for applications! And also, enlighten other people that might come across this.
same problem here, any work around this issue?

Same problem. I don't want to use an external SD card. I just want to move the apllications to the internal SD card.

Anyone? C'mon folks! Why is this happening? How do we fix it? Could it be because of the lagfix? Using Froyo JL2 on a rooted and lagfixed (OCLF) I9000M.
Same here. As the previous posters, I am unable to move any app to SD.
When I try (through Manage applications), I get the dreaded "Failed to move application. Not enough memory" even if I have plenty of memory.
Is this a common problem? Are we the only ones experiencing it?
I am running JPY, updated through Kies after disabling the Voodoo lagfix and then doing a factory reset.
Please please help. At least let us know that it is just us and that it works for the rest of JPYs out there.

Received my replacement handset from Orange (UK) today. The GPS is locking on soo well, functions properly now.
I flashed straight to JPY via reg patch, tried moving an app to SD, get the same error message.
It worked on my old handset 2.2.1 JPY also but with subpar GPS. Today i receive a new handset with a different problem lol.
Any ideas...anyone??
Hey all .... the move to SD is only valid for EXTERNAL SD card, NOT internal.
I successfully moved some apps over after I slot in an external SD card for my SGS. Tried this after I read somewhere the 'apps2sd' tool is designed only for EXTERNAL SD.
Hope this helps....

So is the internal SD only for data storage, not apps?
I found a solution!
I had the same exact problem as you have, and after some rummaging around the interwebs I've found an answer -> SDMove
Just for the sake of information, make sure you don't have the phone connected to your PC via cable. Just like how it happened with me.
Also try SDMaid in market. It cleans the sd.
same problem
I have the same problem and I have an external SD card. Captivate ATT android 2.2 (for now)
I've had the Captivate for a couple of months now and am on xda reading everyday (my wife says I'm obsessed) -- I have yet to find the cause/solution for my problem. I've searched and found similar topics, but I'm not sure if they really apply to my issue.
This problem has followed me to a couple of different ROMs. I started with stock Eclair, Serendipity 5.xx, Cognition 4.1, stock Froyo, and then back to Cognition 4.1.1. I don't recall exactly when the issue started, but I think it was around Cog4.1/stock Froyo.
In Android, I can see it just fine as /sdcard/external_SD (normally use Linda manager). I can copy/move files to/from without any issues. If I plug the phone into the computer, I can access both internal and external SD cards with no problems.
Anyway, CWM 2.5.1.3 -Voodoo Lagfix will not see/mount my external SD card. Attempting to mount /sd-ext produces the error:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 (*NOTE: I've seen posts with this message, but under slightly different circumstances)
(File Exists)
Error mounting SDEXT:!
If, however, I go to "choose zip from sdcard" and then navigate to "external_SD" it will "go" -- however this is **NOT** my external SD card, it appears to be a separate partition. My actual external SD has lots of folders and files, but the CWM "external_SD" has two files that I copied to it attempting to troubleshoot the issue.
A few minutes ago, within Android, I found that if I unmount my external SD, when I navigate to "external_SD", I don't see the files on my true external SD (as expected), but instead I see the partition with my two test files.
I apologize for this lengthy post, but I am at a loss and don't know what else to try. If this has been covered somewhere else, again, I apologize and would greatly appreciate pointing my in the right direction.
Thanks much!

how big is this partition?
**i think** somewhere along the road you clicked "partition sd card" in clockwork recovery.
use windows: Start> Administrative tools > "computer management" > "disk management" tree > edit/delete/expand/shrink partitions manually.
Checked partitions in Windows. The mystery "external_SD" wasn't a partition. it was a plain folder named external_SD (don't remember creating that folder, but probably did). I deleted the folder. I still get the same message in CWM.
When connected to the computer, the internal storage shows as FAT32, capacity 13.03GB (single partition); the external storage shows as FAT32, capacity 7.6GB (which is correct - also single partition).
Just for the record, this issue doesn't appear to be creating any stability or performance problems. I want to figure this out just because...
I appreciate the help thus far.

Anyone have any other ideas of how to get my external SD card to mount in CWM?

i have this trouble too on speedmod_k13c kernel.
i want to place and store all my roms and patches on external sd, but now I'm afraid to do it
maybe it's need to create folder with special name on internal SD (ext-sd for example), which will be point of mount.
unfortunately, CWM don't echo detailed information about error even

Flashing different ROMs can lead to this. It's always a good idea to remove your external SD when flashing.
Try dumping the contents of the card to your PC with a card adapter, then reformat using this:
http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/sd_formatter20.html
Use the FULL (ERASE ON) setting and leave FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT off.
When you put the files back on, only put the data, don't put any system settings etc back on.
Ok -- I will try this when I get home tonight.
Thanks,
jsbac

With help in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012263) I was able to get my phone booting again, but I'm still having a problem mounting my internal SD card.
With stock JF6:
1. Without an external SD card inserted, the phone boot loops continuously at the AT&T screen
2. With an external SD, the phone will boot, but it gives notifications that it is able to mount neither the internal nor external SD card.
Using the Onix 2.0.3 kernel I tried formatting the internal SD and then partitioning it. This results in an error and Onix dumps the attached log file.
I think this may have something to do with ext4 formatting on the SD as mentioned in the threads below. The Captivate threads, however, are either left unresolved or the methods don't work on my phone. I'm also not sure how to apply the results of the I9000 thread to the Captivate.

Can anyone offer any insight?
Actually, scratch that. Now that I think about it, I had flashed to stock and then to Cognition 4.3 successfully. It was only after loading music on it the next day that it wouldn't boot. Would that just be some corruption on the SD?
I just flashed serendipity 6.4 and it runs very very well. However since flashing, my pc has not recognized my internal SD card. The external sd card immediately pops up when connected. I can't access it from my pc at all, but when just on my phone, I can browse the file in astro. I already tried changing the it to mass storage in the usb settings. Any tips?
Check to make sure its mounted.
Settings>sd card and storage> internal sd
Thats the only thing I got.

If the above doesn't work, go into recovery and try and mount SD cards from there and see what it does. If it still doesnt mount flash to stock and get it warranty replaced
Im gonna try flashing back to stock and see if it recognizes. It should... hopefully. thanks
Next time, post in the ROM-specific sticky if your question is related to a certain ROM.
Anyone used the V to backup and restore using CWM 6.0.1.2.
When doing mine, it reduced my internal memory to 3.7 GB rather than keeping it at 8GB.
Any ideas how ti get it back to the correct size?
Regards
Does anyone know how to completely delete partitions on the internal SD using adb or something?
I just want the full amount of memory to be visible again
Cheers
My internal storage got corrupted some time ago, wiping internal sdcard in recovery did solve my problem..
Why would you like to do it in adb?
I used CWM to create a backup, when it was 'freeing up space' it resized my internal SD card to 3.71 GB (used to be 8GB).
Ive tried a format in recovery already, but the size does not change, i want to know if there is a way to look at / manage the internal SD card partitions to see what CWM has done, and then format or restore it from there.
Cheers
.. Ok so u can't fill up your internal sdcard above 3.7gb right?
idk much about partitions..
But what if u mount the internal storage as MSC mode (instead of MTP?)
Correct, the internal card is just not showing the right available space.
I have not found a way to mount the internal SD card as MSC yet, been looking, so i could possibly then use mini partition tool on it.
I remember Doomload had a way for the Xperia S, could check to see if it works for the V.
i´m not sure but i have read somewhere that only 3,7 Gb is user available
http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?e=1398673
that´s in swedish can be difficult to understand but there is stated about it, i dunno if it is correct
Hmmm, i actually never noticed that, could be right all along then.. thanks for that, ill have a scout round to confirm if thats the case. Seems strange, why would 4GB be required on an SD card. Either way, at least i know it's ok now, haha.
Regards
[EDIT]
Confirmed, 3.7 available
