Sorry there must be a simple way but i just cant find it, just shifted from an htc desire and i cant find a way to assign a ringtone to individual contacts.

You can only do it for contacts stored on the phone not google contacts sadly. You just long press a contact and then select edit and you can select ringtone.

I have contacts synced from an exchange server, guess same rule as google contacts apply.

It's a right pain in the arse... but if you want you can make a new contact on your phone or sim card using just the name!! add a ringtone, then edit, link contact, and link it to your exchange contact then it will work.. As I say a pain in the arse but the only way I found to give some of my gmail contact a ringtone!
I do not think that this is a froyo thing, ithis option was on htc desire before it was updated to 2.2, heck this ootion was on my winmo phones years ago.

For the life of me I can't get some of my contacts to sync to google, instead of just being phone contacts. Any idea how to do this? I'm trying to get the contacts of a 2.1 sense ROM to sync to google so they will appear on my AOSP 2.2 setup. Thanks in advance.

I haven't used 2.1 since before summer, so I'm rusty with it, but when you edit a contact, can't you change whether it's saved to the phone or Google account?
I haven't seen that option anywhere. Ive been using aosp but nanded back to see why I was missing contacts and didnt see that option...

I am in the same boat...haven't used 2.1 for quite awhile, but I know there is an option somewhere. Positive.
One other way, if you absolutely can't get them to switch doing it on your phone, add them online and delete them from the phone (the ones that are phone contacts). But I know the option is there to change them somewhere. Maybe I will flash back just to find out where
Give those contacts a email address, even if its a bogus one. They will sync once you do that, or at least they did on mine.

I can't seem to figure out how to give a custom ringtone to certain contacts on JH7...can someone enlighten me and let me know how to do it?
Are the contacts on your sim or phone?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
If they're saved to the phones memory you can do it. Other wise if You only have them saved on your Google account you can't do contact ringtones I figured this out just recently

That sounds stupid...so then is there a way to transfer it all quickly instead of doing it one at a time?
SIM manger has always worked on all my phones. Contacts/menu/more/SIM management.

I think you need stock Rom to save contacts to SIM or there might be an app for it. Not sure.

There is option to import contacts to sim
^ Import means bringing in from outside. I dont think you can do vice versa in Non-stock based custom roms. Again- Not sure.
Just login to google account from pc, go to contacts, and delete them. And disable syncing. After that clear contacts data, and restore contacts from sd card
Yes. www.google.com/contacts/
I also had that problem. Log into your Google account via PC (as yackovsky already said) and just merge duplicates.
I also had the same problem i had around 6-7 same contacts then i use go sms pro and batcg deleted all .It took me almost one hour to do as i was having around 4000 contacts

hello to every one.i am using X-Bean 3.0 and the only thing that i want to know is if there is a possible way to sync my facebook contacts with the phone contacts.like you can do with the stock rom.i am new to samsung phones (i used to have HTC) so if anybody can help me that would be great.
thank you all!:cyclops:
The option is not available since ICS. You can use Contact Picture Sync, it's an awesome app, but it syncs pictures only (no status updates or a link to your friends' profile). However, it's the only app I've encountered that syncs high resolution pictures.

Watch doesn't directly connect to the cloud (or your cal in this case), it will report whatever the phone you pair it too is sync with, if you want to change it, you need to change it on your phone

If you have multiples calendar sync to one app (let's say google Cal) I don;t think there is way to select which Cal to display, now if you have multiples Cal App you can use the Android Wear Companion App to mute all other Cal notification and leave only the one you want to see
