When reading an article on Engadget, the address bar keeps popping down and loading... something... This happens every 30 seconds or so. And pressing stop doesn't prevent it from happening again in the next 30 seconds.
Does this happen to anyone else? What in the heck is it??
I'm going to resurrect this thread as it keep happening to me too. I'm sure its something simple that is just beyond me at this point. XD
Thanks. I guess not many people here read Engadget
Had it happen on other forums... If you can change your user agent that worked for me. Or just kill your apn.. Just a thought

I have plug-ins on-demand only.
I think the auto-reload might have something to do with the comments. Maybe Disqus is constantly polling for any changes you've made like ranking or reporting, etc, even if you haven't clicked anything.

Don't really know as I haven't used that function with the app. Someone will likely come through with an answer.
The app is getting more problems.... I now have to login everytime I open this app.... what's happening!?!?!?!
It also Force Closes if you try to search.
For the freaking XDA app, you'd think they could round up a couple people who knew what they were doing...
Hi, for the first time ever I am considering using a 3rd party browser. But this is not the topic of this thread. What I am curious about is whether or not you guys have the same stock browser problem as I do.
This bug has never happen to me until the latest OTA update for the D3. When I try to close some browser tabs, it brings to that page instead of closes it. Sometimes I need to press the close button several times (sometimes 5) in order for the close to register properly.
I'm using the Verizon Motorola Droid 3.
Does this happen to you?
Since the day Oeramini and Operamobile were released I haven't opened the android's stock browser a single time.
Like you, the stock browser was having "issues" here and there. I didn't bother looking up any fixes, and just went with Opera Mini.
Sent from my XT860 using xda premium
OP:
It's cause the close button is tiny and you keep missing it.
It used to happen to me all the time, then I learned to aim.
You'll get the hang of it
This phone comes with a stock browser? When I logged into google the first thing it auto-downloaded was dolphin HD.

It only did that because your apps r set to back up on googles servers...so when u activate a google account on an android phone it puts all your apps on it. So yes, of course there's a stock browser!

Nope, I tested on my left pinky finger, my right pinky finger, the tip of my nose, and naturally, my thumb. It is not my carelessness that caused this to happen. So tell me, does anyone experience the same as I have?

Sometime, the problem may be caused by the touch-screen. From dev side, the touch point which is sent to browser is not correct. The 3rd-party browser would be a better choice. Stock browser really lack some feature which other browser did a great job.
You can try Boat Browser. Check it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308752
this happens to me as well, even before the update. Seems that it is sometimes a long press that fixes it, annoying as all...

Exactly, long press seems to fix the issue 25% of the time. But 25% is rough guess and is still an annoyingly small amount.
The issue did occur before update, but it didn't occur ever so often.
Please, I just want people to confirm that this is an issue on everyone elses device.
One of the features on ICS that I really liked was Auto Fill, where you fill out name, address and email info one time and any forms that you came across that needed some or all of that info were automatically filled in, but I can't find it on JB.
Edit: meant to put this in Q/A not sure how it ended up in General.
Pretty sure that's a browser feature...

Hey Galaxy Ace I Users,
I only want to share some good news - Firefox has released their browser officially for our phone. You are able to get Firefox at the Play Store if you like to.
Edit your topic to "Firefox Browser". Such headers give us false hopes. And there was no need to say that by creating a new thread. You could have Shared it in the off topic thread. Anyway, Goodnews
If this thing will boot , I'll root.

That's a bit far fetched.
And Firefox always stood for Firefox Browser, just because Firefox OS got released a while ago doesn't mean the Browser should be explicitly specified as such.
I mean, am I supposed to say "Normal squared glass windows" every time I talk about my apartment's windows just so people don't think I'm talking about MS Windows? Use common sense.

It's not a lightweight browser, just because it doesn't fit your needs doesn't mean Mozilla is crazy.
Also, Chrome is around 20-25 MB as well, FYI.
I tried the browser but it was too laggy on our phone so I deleted.
And the newest opera browser is 20mb too.
I use it every day on my phone without problems

20.95MB (APK) + 2.24MB (Dex) + ~0.3MB (Lib).
There was an issue (?) in the FF nightlies where the data size would climb to ~20MB, not sure if it's still the case. Currently it's about 3MB on my phone.

Firefox is not good browser for me. im just an experianced Android user and I do not recommend Mozila browser. just for an example go to xda web page and on the 'search for your phone' box just type something and you will get no suggestions. I really dont like it at all thats one of the reasons why i do not recommend it. sorrrry

Yep. Just got it on mine also. Haven't seen anything different so far.
I just got my notice. I opted to remind me later til I knew more about it. Wonder what the changer are????
Does it break root?
I really don't know I wasn't root. Sorry
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda app-developers app
One thing it DOESN'T do is fix the Hangouts video restriction to WiFi.
It broke root for me. Guess i'm gonna have to wait for a new root method now. I seen OTA update and just jumped on it without thinking.
Since this is the first thread on the subject, lets make it an organized one with useful info please so people don't make 1000 threads about it making it difficult for those of us who haven't updated yet to stay on top of it.
What we've learned so far:
It (probably) breaks root
not much else as far as improvements/changes
Just got mine also. Wonder if it fixes the double reboot issue where the phone boots and reboots right away when trying to sync clock.
I'm assuming this is the audio fixes that the other variants got. Could be wrong though.
First thing I noticed was the color of the stock keyboard. It is now a blueish blackish color.

We can speculate all day long.
We need a changelog or at least some confirmation from those that have updated.
'm also wondering if Kingo can re-root.

I noticed the keyboard change as well. One thing I noticed (although this might be my mind playing tricks on me) is the phone seems to lock/unlock quicker. I noticed a bit of lag sometimes when hitting the power button to lock, and it seems to have lessened somewhat. Again, purely speculation, although I know a lot of people had complained about it on various mediums.
I think we post the same thing. I notice some changes. Like the keyboard and slightly better performance. Please see my thread and let me know if you find something more

I think its the same update Sprint got as well. There is another thread in Q&A that points to a URL with changes for Sprint. New keyboard is because they added new handwriting mode. Other fixes mentioned are call audio improvements. Nothing else.
I use Google keyboard and my call audio has been fine. I'm keeping M9 rooted unless I hear something meatier.
I responded on the first thread about the update and I called AT&T to get any release notes. They told me all it says is general performance enhancements.
