So, when running media player are you suppose to see the Album Art? I would assume the Blue Box I am seeing is where the art could be displayed but of course I only see a blue box in the upper/left and scrolling information in the bottom of this box about the mp3 that is playing.
yes you're supposed to see the cover.
Has the mp3 you're playing the cover in its tag ?
If you transfer your mp3s using WMP on your computer, do you have the covers ?
Yes, I see the Album art in Media Player and in iTunes on my Vista PC. Also, all other meta data is seen on the Tilt by going to the properties of the mp3.
This is how it looks in my folder on vista.
How did you put the mp3s you're playing on your tilt ? Did you use the sync function of WMP ? If you've just transfered it using explorer, it may not work because I think WMP is using a little picture of the cover instead of the corresponding tag in the mp3.

I only direct copied it... that could be it.
yup-
to get the album art-ya gotta synch it through media player
You are both correct, after using Media Player to sync up "Dark Side of the Moon" I got album art (I see the little jpg file it places in the directory with the mp3 files). That is rather stupid but at least I know now.
Thanks for you time and helping with my stupid question.
Most of the mp3s I direct copied kept their cover art (manually added in itunes) but 1 or 2 albums didn't. The only thing I can see in common is that the albums that didn't bring their cover art were the albums that itunes automatically found art for. The albums I added the covers manually kept theirs. Funny.....
Does anyone know? I did a Windows Media Player sync like the getting started guide says. My playlists and music is recognized in the TouchFLO music player, but the album art does not show. The Album Art DOES show if I open the same playlists/music in Windows Media Player.
It looks like there is an "hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg" image in the Internal Storage/Content/Music folder for each album that the device came with. Is that what the TouchFLO 3D media player uses to display album art? Why can't it use Folder.jpg like Windows Media Player does?
Has anyone figured out how to get this to work without renaming a copy of folder.jpg for each album on the device?
EDIT: The following instructions is what I had to do on the 1.34 ROM in order to get album art to appear in TouchFLO 3D:

You can embed the album art in the tag with a tool like mediamonkey. I keep all my mp3's tidy with all info and art, the player on the diamond will go through the tags and display the art for you. I also saw the .jpg in a folder of provided content, so potentially that is another way But I have not tried it due to what I already explained.
I tired put my album image and rename to folder.jpg(200 x 200px) and hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg(256 x 256px) into Internal Storage/Content/Music/Artist/Album and the TouchFLO 3D would load the images.

your sure? i have MP3s with embedded Album Art in the tag (i use MP3tag) but they would not show. Only if i use WMP11 to sync i have art
I have MP3s with Album art embedded too, and they didn't transfer over, probably because I sync playlists using Windows Media Player.
I tried adding hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg images to some folders in my synced music Library on Internal Storage/Music/, but that didn't work for showing album art either.
I don't do the drag/drop File Manager way of adding MP3s because that's way too much of a hassle to manage. Auto-syncing selective playlists in Windows Media Player is a much easier method of managing what music is on my device.
I guess I'll try running Tag & Rename (http://www.softpointer.com/tr.htm) on the internal storage tonight, but that's going to suck if I have to do it every time I change my syncing playlists.
dont worry bro.. dont worry.. i did it without any extra programs
like this: internal storage/my documents/my music(u might need to create one) /madonna(eg. album) /madonna's mp3(all of madonna's mp3) AND folder.jpg(IMPORTANT! this folder.jpg IS madonna's pic or album art. u have to rename it to folder.jpg)
after u done that, htc will auto attach a .jpg file into your album, should be htc_am_album.jpg or somehting like that. and u got your album in your htc player. if it still doesnt load...
go to the player manually, tap library on the left lower corner. scroll to album and it might automatically detect it by then.

That didn't work for me. It should have detected them originally, since Windows Media Player syncing does create folder.jpg images like that. I have TouchFLO 3D 1.1.34072.1 1630.15. Is your's a different version??
This is what I had to do to get it to work:
http://discuss.pocketnow.com/showthread.php?p=74481#post74481
The renaming to folder.jpg worked for me, too.
It appears it won't happen instantly, but after some time the picture is used.
In fact, the HTC album creates a new copy of the folder.jpg with an adapted resolution which it names htc_am_albumart.jpg.
So simply put your folder.jpg in your album folder and have some patience, it will happen. I've not yet figured out what triggers this.
syncing Album Art in USB mode
Hi All,
After a few days of frustation with my Diamond mediaplayer I found that syncing the following way is most satisfactory to get album art across from my PC:
1. set WMP 11 to sync without conversion, that is MP3 format (so no gain in WMA compression)
2. set your Diamond to USB
3. sync your songs from WMP
This seems to work fine for at least 9 out of 10 songs !
Have fun

Touch Flow does not find music
Hi,
I have synced all the musics via Media Player.
But Diamond does not find them in touch flow.
It allways says "No music Found"
I noticed that it puts the music in a folder called "Music" on the root of the Internal Storage instead of the \Content\Music
Anyone had this problem or has any ideias?
Regards,
Jose
Have you tried opening windows media player and updating the library ?
When I do that the tf3d page updates its library too
How to Sync TouchFLO 3D Album Art
HI
I have the same issue, I just let WMA to sync all my album to the HTC. All my albums are put in the /internal storage/music folder. Using the TF3D and the music option I can chose the library and launch one album but I can not have all my album diplayed in this screen.. I always must go through the library to chose my album.. But with this synchronuisation the image associete with the labum is fine dusplayed
I had also updated the lbrary using WMA on the HTC
thanks for your experience
when you view in TF3D all image album, you must create playlist with all song and then you look all album in TF3D, bud when you skip to other album must skip all song from previous album.
Better soft to play music is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377627

I was thinking the same thing. Couple days ago i decided to try out the music player and i really can't understand (being a software developer myself) how the hell they let this pass.
Btw, i only managed to get the album art show, by renaming the WM art file to folder.jpg, deleting the HTC/AudioManager_Eng/AudioManager_Eng file, and reset the device. It created the HTC_AM.... .jpg on the folders.
cheers

where is the file you are deleting? I have still not got this to show art.
Works well
Rename all your albumart to folder.jpg using flashrenamer
JUst change the registry key HKLM/software/htc/audiomanager */audiomanager from 1.5 to 0.
Soft reset your diamond
Then the diamond makes files called HTC albumart and you can then see all your album art in the Touchflo 3d screen.
Hello Everyone,
sorry if it has already been discussed before, i really searched for this in the forum, couldn't find it.
Does anyone know what playlist formats are supported by the Samsung music player in Galaxy S?
it doesn't support .m3u whereas many other music players ( in the market) support this!
there is nothing as visually pleasing and comfortable as the samsung music player (Things should change with Gingerbread)
Also, can we use the default android 2.2 music player in an .apk in 2.1 galaxy s?
why i am asking for this is, its a big pain for manually adding the playlist in the phone. there should be some way to create the playlist in the computer and sync both playlist as well as songs to galaxy s.
i have tried isyncr , media mokey and double twist, nothing works!!
I have found a dirty tiresome work around for this.
This is for guys who have 100s of songs with playlists sitting on either itunes or windows media player!!!!
Sync each playlist from computer (i do from windows media player), select all the songs visible in the phone and create a playlist.
open the playlist tab in the Samsung music player -> edit the recently added playlist (default one) and clear the songs.
Sync again with a different playlist and select the songs in the recently added playlist (newly synced songs will be here now). manually select all the songs here to create a new one.
I saw Btunes music player and few others to provide support for .m3u playlists along with nice lock screen music controls.
btunes is the only slick player apart from samsung player to provide iphone style music player.
I've been fighting and fighting with this for 3 days straight now. I really like the music player and want to use but lack of "normal" playlist support is killing me. I even created a playlist so I could take a look at the file but I can't find it. Where the heck does it store it's own playlist files??
Hi guys,
I have no idea where the playlist files are saved.
Community help is needed badly for the list of supported playlist formats.
worst case, we have to manually make the playlists the hard way.
From "Unoficial Samsung Galaxy S Facebook":
Samsung Galaxy S You can use your Windows Media Player 12 to transfer your Playlist and song to your Galaxy S. This is good because WMP's Playlist also readable with original player.

I don't have Windows so I can't confirm if this method is working on our Galaxy. But I hope that there is a way to convert m3u playlists to wmp12 playlists anyway if that's true.
If you connect your Galaxy S in MTP mode, it will sync playlists from Windows Media Player.
I remember that my playlists used to sync but then I wiped my days and forget how to do this...will try again tonight using the method you suggest. Thanks!
solution
for playlists use isyncr to sync..................it had synced all my playlists to the galaxy s music player from itunes
dont know where they are stored but titanium backup can backup and restore them
Well, I tried titanium 3.5.0 backed up a playlist I created in sgs, then I deleted it from the stock music player and from music playerpro (I don't know why didn't delted from teh other when I deleted from the first one), then made a restore playlist with titanium, but there are no media at all in the playlist. I really would like to know how can I backup the playlists. At least until we get a good froyo rom
Turns out the playlist is in xml format. I exported a playlist from iTunes in xml format and dumped it into the galaxy s SD card and boom! it shows up in the stock music player!
xml did not work for me?
After attempted the suggested method above, by:
1) Connected to windows vista on my laptop in usb mass storage mode
2) Exported two playlists in xml format using itunes
3) Copied them to the "sdcard/Music/Playlists" folder
They were not visible in the stock Music Player in my Galaxy S vibrant with the eclair.uvji2 update. If it is of interest, I did sync the files using Windows Media Player. However, both wmp and itunes are using the same file structure, playlists and id3 tags.
syncing with windows media player does not give the playlists...
using playlist creator, i created m3u playlists copied the mp3s and m3u to the music folder and it works...but it's gonna be tedious...
Edit:
FLAC (done manually...)
1. Drag flac files to Playlist creator to create m3u
2. Copy and paste the m3u and the flac files into a folder manually
3. (app to properly read FLAC tags) Download extended media scanner
Mp3s (Since I don't like using itunes and I use WMP instead)
1. Create a lot of playlists in windows media player
2. Import over to doubletwist on PC
3. (Not sure if you need this step but even if you do, there's no need to touch it after installation)) Install isync on your phone '
4. Connect your phone on mass storage
5. Sync the selected playlists on your doubletwist with phone, playlists will all appear in native player.
All these done without using itunes Although technically, doubletwist is based on itunes =X
you are wrong i have manually put the .m3u files on a newly flashed phone which has the songs on my sd card.. it does not work..

I guess it is program dependent, the m3u created by playlist creator works while those by wmp 12 didn't work.
And oh, might want to try install isync

Why don't you post the contents of one of your m3u files that works?
Ok, I tested with and without isync and looks like isync is required for galaxy s to recognise the m3u
can someone give this a shot so that the default music player can read m3u playlists? Method 1 has worked for me so far on 2.1 while I'm trying it out on 2.2
Method 1
FLAC and mp3s (done manually...)
1. Install iSyncR
2. Drag flac/mp3 files to Playlist creator to create m3u
3. Copy and paste the m3u and the flac/mp3 files into a folder manually
4. (app to properly read FLAC tags) Download extended media scanner
Method 2
Mp3s (Since I don't like using itunes and I use WMP instead)
1. Install isync on your phone
2. Create a lot of playlists in windows media player
3. Import over to doubletwist on PC
4. Connect your phone on mass storage
5. Sync the selected playlists on your doubletwist with phone, playlists will all appear in native player.
Use a m3u in combinaison with a playlist copier
My reply may come a bit late, but hopefully it can still be useful. I've discovered a freeware yesterday, called Amok playlist copy, which run super nicely. For those who used or use Itunes, it permit you to select all the song from a playlist, and copy them automatically to a folder ( then you can send it to your phone), along with the associated m3u playlist.
You have to drop the playlist file into the directory media/playlist on your android phone ( mine is SGS-1), and then you can drop all the associated music file in a folder, either on your phone or sd card ( you can also add subfolder as far as i know, without any problem). That way, you don't have to you use Itunes for fast transferring of every song in your list. Actually, i'll keep using something lighter, like VLC to do the job, after I realized that only Itunes seems to be able to copy the original files to clipboard.
As I said, the software is freeware, and i don't know of any other similar alternatives. Would be nice to stumble upon an open-source alternative.
I sync my music using Windows Media Player. Almost all of my songs have album art that displays fine in WMP. For some reason, only about 30% of the songs I sync to my Cappy have their album art displayed in the List or Now Playing views. In WMP it's easy to see why a song doesn't display album art because those files are visible within the folders (they have cryptic names and sizes, but all have a Folder.jpg file of the art), but Android only shows the music file. Looking at the folders for the songs that display correctly compared to ones that don't I see no difference. I used to have an app on WinMo that fixed issues with album art, but no such app exists on Android. Any ideas what is causing this? I want all my songs to display album art instead of that goofy blurred color thing.

There are a few apps that will download the album art, but what I think it is that the ones that work might have the info embeded in the id3 tags. Just a thought.

Yeah, I thought that, but I do that for all my mp3s. There's no rhyme or reason why some work and some don't. I'll give the Market a look.
It is possibly the format of the tags. I use Mp3tag on Windows to tag my files. I write ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags to the files. It's a free program, the dev accepts donations.
I really like mp3tagger pro (about $1.30) from the market for tagging files on the phone. Dev Site It found album art for some of my files that programs on my PC did not locate (Media Monkey, Album Art Downloader and Mp3tag).
I like this free app to fix album art on my phone.
Album Art Grabber
http://timothyjc.blogspot.com/2010/08/album-art-grabber.html
if you want to fix the situation in your pc's music library... try embedding the art in the tag...
though I don't think that is necessary. as none of mine is embedded. I have a 'cover.jpg' file in every folder though... and those images then show up in my gallery until I delete them. (after the cover thumbnails have been made
Thanks, guys. I ended up going with ID3Tagger because it was the only one that does WMA and other formats besides MP3. I often use WMA because the quality is the same as a 128k file, but the file sizes are smaller. Tried the free version and liked it enough to buy the paid one. It isn't fast when you have as many songs as I have, but it works and well.
Guys, I'm obsessed with keeping a well-organized music library.
I add album art, lyrics and all details to each and every song I download.
I use TagNRaname to achieve this.
Now the problem. On both the Music Player and UberMusic (or any other player), some of my songs display incorrect album art. Like there one of two images that are repeated on several songs, even though those songs have separate embedded album art!
Please help. How do I solve this!
Try 'mp3tag' to add song details.
http://www.mp3tag.de/en/
The details are added fine!
Its the phone that messes them up!
I have copied the same music to my iPod and the song art is fine there.

if you are on windows, go to view tab on folder options and check the first one, i.e. Always show icons, never thumbnails.
after selecting this, copy the songs again to your phone, it will show the correct album art.
i had many situations when windows messed up the album art.
Take back the song to your computer and check if the picture is correct.
Also try to wipe the thumbnail database.
Wiping cache didn't help.
This is so weird. Read.
When I copy the song with the messed up art to PC, it has the art embedded, but it doesn't show it. However, when I switch to Large Icons view mode, the art shows. Then, if I go back to Medium Icons, it shows it.
I suppose the problem above is due to the Windows Thumbnail cache. But... why the device? Why is it not showing the art correctly? And what criteria is it using in choosing the random art that it does show in place of the correct art?
did you select the option i have mentioned? did it work?
i believe windows chooses the album art of whichever song you play first in a folder and applies it to all songs which doesnt have any album art.
I even changed the SD Card today lol
And the Windows thing.. No that I don't use. I delete all the album art files created by Windows. I myself embed art into the mp3 files using a software. That way, the song itself has the art embedded in it.
My music library displays correct artwork in my iPod. The problem only exists on the Galaxy, and that too only in some songs.

Windows is definitely messy with the album art. even if you delete the album art, it still shows up messed when you play it with windows player.
for me, selecting the Always show icons, never thumbnails in folder options did the trick.
If you use your Ipod, why dont you try adding album art in Itunes and copy it back to windows and check.
I have the exact same issue. Being a professional DJ, I have to keep my music well organised, well tagged and I also make sure each track has its own album art embedded in it.
I use Media Monkey to tag.
Now, on my Galaxy S, no matter what player I use, some tracks show album art of another track and its just 2 or 3 pictures that show repeatedly on these tracks that are messed up. Its about 30% of the music that shows messed up embedded album art. Some tracks do not show a picture at all despite being tagged with album art. When I mount my SD on the PC and launch Media Monkey, all album art shows up nice and correct. Also, in Windows thumbnail view, all the art shows up correctly too.
I tried clearing Media storage data under applications but no luck. This is so utterly annoying!
What the hell is it with Android and embedded album art?
Some programs just dont encode the album art properly, ive had this happen a few times try this...
download mp3tag - http://download.mp3tag.de/mp3tagv249setup.exe
1 - drag you song that you want to change/update art into mp3tag.
2 - press shift+alt+5 and then change it to "import cover from file"
3 - click save.
the correct album art will now show up on your phone
solution
I had this same problem and it drove me nuts.
I finally realized that android prefers to use album art instead of my (very specific) COVER ART
If i had several songs from the same album, they all had the same art... and of course i didnt want this because I had previously downloaded art for every song specifically.
So what i did was, from my pc, deleted all the album names using "mp3tag" software,
Now the songs had no album reference, so the specific cover art was now displayed.
