[Q] Samsung Froyo Keyboard Apk

I'm running Phoenix Unleashed on my Captivate and love it, and while the Gingerbread keyboard is fine, I really miss the predictive text and the functionality of the old Samsung keyboard from Froyo.
Does anyone either know the where I can get the app or the .apk so I can pull it from another source?

I discovered that AxT9IME.apk was what I was looking for, so I uploaded it to my phone. However, it won't install. Can anyone think of a reason why the app won't install or how I can install it? (Before you ask, I have selected the option to allow my phone to install unknown apps.)

Keyboards are system apps, you don't install. Put the apk into the /system/app folder using ADB or root explorer. You may or may not have to reboot to get it to show.

If that doesn't work there might be a lib file in /system/lib for the predictive text dictionary also. All I use is swype and thats how it is with that idk about this one for sure though.

I tried both loading the app and lib files. I tried copying them into the rom file and loading the rom, which failed.
I'm just running a different rom. Life as we know it did not cease.

[Q] how to Replace .apk from system with our selection

I found nice memo, dialler, calendar at Android Market.
Under system/app, there is memo, dialler, calendar but cannot remove it. How can I remove and replace with my selection? Tq

no need to remove them just install new one normally and if you want to remove you need to have root

If u'RE already rooted..then install root explorer..navigate to system apps...delete apk...copy the napkins u want..fix permissions and u're done

cause all others work through it (like ex dialer)

Tq very much for all suggestion. I've root my Mini, using emanoN v5. I install my selected apps as usual but it not replace with existing apk such as dialler. Which mean, original dialler still at same places. No change with my selection apk

i use titanium backup to remove all unwanted system apps seems to work well

Can you explain in detail on your method? My device is rooted using emanoN v5

open es file explorer go to aetting check all the root options
go the root of your device by keeping your finger pressed on star button
then go to system, then go to app, copy the apk file in that folder you want to install

I had try exactly as your advice to install dialler but it install as a second dialler. Is there anything i would missed up something? I tried rename same as original dialler but when install, on portion where we can cancel or install, it still show its original name. I realized all .apk in system/apps have it twin file (.odex) which I believe to differentiate the system apk and normal apk. Does need do something on this?

Use systemapp remover to remove any app from the ROM. Of course, always be careful when removing system apps.

I found newer version but it disable system apps. only can play with regular apps

What about setting permissions, will they always bee the same.??
Out of curiosity when apk is pushed to system/app folder, does it get deleted in a factory reset.??

Backup of your app?
Plenty of apps available to back them up with, if you've already uninstalled it I think your only other option is to download again.

Use "App backup & restore".
It creates apk of your installed apps.

If your device is rooted you can find your applications at /data/app and your system applications at /system/app
Just stay careful of what you do with system apps

There are several apps which can do App backups for you if you have root, one example of an excellent backup application is Titanium Backup, the Pro version even allows you to sync your backup to Dropbox or Box. The apks of the backed up applications will then be in the Titanium Backup folder you designated on your SD Card and even in your Dropbox if you used the feature.

application not installed

im trying to replace my camera app with another camera app with no shutter sound i can successfully remove the stock camera app with titanium but when i try to install the no shutter sound camera app ..comes up application not installed ....this happens with any stock app i try to replace ..how can i fix this ...thanks
my firmware is rooted stock v20j

deleting the ogg files from arccamera.apk will be solution?

worked perfect for the camera thanks ..now is there anyway i can overwrite some of the apps or somehow remove the protection on them so i can install and not get the error message application not installed

no answers? there must be a way to remove stock app permissions so it can be overwritten with better apps without application not installed error

that worked perfect for camera apk .i wanted to remove permissions on other app like skype and stuff which i get same error .i want to install better versions but gets same error application not installed ..can i do other apps same way as camera app?also phone app has video call on v20o but my version v20j i dont have that feature..do anyone have version v20o phone app??and can it be replaced?

To move some apps like android terminal emulator you must add lib(from this app) to /system/lib or something else. About titanium backup/pro i preffer to stayin' it in /data

Titanium does not move these lib when moving applications to / system / app?ne Someone told me that if i don't deodex my rom i risk to crash all applications*

I do not know how to pull these libraries, to move I can use the terminal emulator ... someone can tell me where I find them?

OK i mean the some app like Root Explorer don't need to move lib(s) (from this app) to /system/lib to working fine without ForceClose(FC) but some apps like Android Terminal Emulator need to move lib(s) (from this app, just open it like package file as rar or zip with 7zip or winrar on PC and copy lib(s) from folder(s)) to /system/lib. But i don't know how Titanum Backup work when you copy this app to /system/app and change permisions(rw-r--r-- / 644) and restart phone. Maybe it'll work good without FC or will FC . I hope you understand what i tell you

make sure you have root, download and install Link2SD then grand access to root permission (if not using to to make more space or its orginal intended use) then skip when it asks for partition info by pressing back.
select app you want to move then select convert to system app for normal apps or intergrade update into system for updates to system apps like playstore etc.
REBOOT phone after doing it all to get rid of forsed closes. Some apps dont like being used like this. You can also try Apps2Rom in playstore I have used but prefer L2SD as I use it for more memory my linking apps to the SD
