Sweet ... 100% working

this is awesome, but i was wondering if an HDRadio app were possible, as it uses the same frequencies.
..
Anyone know what device that Radio App was ripped from? I don't recognize it.
Well, wherever it came from, a big drink of brew for posting it and whoever mined it
Works great!
sadly it doesn't work on the atrix
It works pretty well on an Incredible running MUIU-1.7.29.0. I'm very happy to have it. But it's a bit raw, compared to the HTC Sense FM radio.
After scanning and choosing a particlar station, I couldn't find a way to assign the call letters to that frequency. While showing the list, Menu will give an option for New, but if you a frequency and then the name, it complains that "frequency already exist (sic)", since it was found to belocally valid by a Scan.
Media fire has removed the file for violation of their terms of service.
I found the app for rooted Droid 2's and it works fine on my Droid 3. Go to this page:
droidforums.net/forum/droid-2-hacks/76246-fm-radio-d2.html
Download the zip file and install FMRadio.apk which is in the app folder of the zip archive. You don't need anything else in there. Works fine with no issues, reception seems okay. It allows for 20 presets which you can name and the hardware has some sort of soft mute feature so that instead of hearing static it just gets quieter. It requires headphones to act as the antenna but allows you to switch to the phone's speaker. You could just use a 3.5mm patch cable as an antenna.
Not sure if this is the same app that was posted here or if its older since it was for the Droid 2 but it works fine.
Works great!!!! LOVE IT! Something to listen to while panning for root!
FM Transmission?
Is it possible to transmit to my radio from this phone? I'd like to listen to my music/pandora/etc. through my radio in my car.

if your car had an aux input then use an aux cable. If not buy an fm transmitter.

No aux and I know I can buy an FM transmitter. Just wondering if there's an app that lets you transmit. Be a whole lot cheaper and easier...

There needs to be FM transmitting hardware which is different from receiving hardware. It would be pretty useful if they included FM transmitting hardware in phones. You'd need an antenna but many FM transmitters use the ground wire of the audio cable or car charger as an antenna since FM uses a much lower frequency range than cellular it needs a larger antenna.
anyone have the apk they can put up again? Or link from dropbox or something so it doesn't get removed?

works great, thanks.
I can't seem to vary the volume -- everything plays at maximum force.
Is fm transmitting possible using our galaxy note? or can it be made possible by the help of devs? Please Help
not as far as i know. you need the actual fm trasmitter hardware to be built into the phone. only nokia seems to do that nowadays.

according to me when a phone has FM receiver it also habe a fm transmitter with it , coz when u receive a fm from a radio station , then is a small thing which sends a signal to them. this signals are use to count the no of users listening to the fm station. So this is possbile that Note also has a fm trasmitter. Actually a person expert in hardware can tell us the true story

No, the radio station can't count their listeners, but the note does have a small transmitter that lets me see what you do in the bathroom. Stop doing that, it's gross.
It cannot be done ,i checked with the hardware integrations of the same. It needs a hardware mod.

Don't recall the source, but I read somewhere that the Note actually has the required chipset for FM transmission, but the transmission part is disabled.
I really doubt it can be enabled, and if that happens I don't think it would be capable of high quality and above all enough range to be useful. Even Nokias suck on this regard!
Cheers!

they really dropped the ball their on the galaxy note 2 , I almost bought an note then I noticed that at could not transmit FM like the galaxy s3 could :S
getting sound from the phone into my carputer is no problem , but doing the same in other cars that just have oem stereo systems is another question
There are dedicated fm transmitters you can buy. They are available all over the internet and are very cheap to buy.

Hi
Just wanted to ask if fm radio is working ok for you, my experience is no to good reception wise
I've used htc, apple and Samsung earphones but listening to the radio station is a terrible experience it's a constant crackling sound interrupted by some music
Also the sound quality from htc supplied headphones is kinda poor
Ps
Thank God for Internet radio stations

Depends probably on the type of your headphone. I am a FM Radio addict our local FM stations here have way so much perks that listening to them would entertain your the whole day(yeah it's not just plain music here)

For me its good. No problems here. My onkyo av receiver with antenna struggles more to get a good receipton then the one (same room).
The supplied headset is poor? I think they are quite good for supplied ones (but i have better ones).
Edit: If i hold it near the top of the phone the receipton seems to break down. Also if my hand is near the start of the headphone cable
That's what I am saying, the radio should work ok with earphones supplied but not in my case, if I put my s3, s2, and htc one next to each other and turn fm radio on on all of them the samsungs work ok but htc one not so hence the question -how's yours fm radio performance out of the box
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
FM radio performance (signal sensitivity) is chronic. Fortunately I ditched the One (for various reasons) and now get fantastic performance from the XZ and XZL. HTC need to design the thing correctly if they offer it. The HTC One S was similarly crap.
Hello guys,
Back in the day, When I used to have nokia n900, it was my frist phone with IR blaster. That phone used to have Fm transmitter app, which I could use to transmit my songs from my phone to my car's Fm radio on a set frequency.
I am wondering if its possible with our HTC One ?
Thanks.
IR blaster has nothing to do with having an FM transmitter. HTC One does not have an FM transmitter.
@main_shoby
Heya buddy! I feel you! I still have my working n900 with me here right now
Anyways IR Blaster has nothing to do with FM Transmitter. FM Transmitter is integrated in the qualcomm chipsets it's just that manufacturers aren't enabling it hardware wise due to complicated constraints/restriction on most of the countries around the world.
So the hardware isn't in our phone ?
Or is it's just not activated
Since we have qualcom

I called T-Mobile and had them look into the FM chip in the nexus 6. They told me that the nexus 6 does have the FM chip but they will not active it. Does anyone have a patch that actives the chip? This is the website that made me aware that this phone can play FM stations.

Wow, that would be awesome. I'd love to listen to baseball games at work.
Links to the FCC reports for the N6 are here and here. There is no mention of an FM radio. You can also see the iFixIt teardown here. They also did not mention an FM radio.
As much as I would like there to be an FM radio in the N6, I think this is more likely a case where the CSM you spoke with was mistaken or the information available to the CSM is incorrect.
They called me back after researching it. They started off by telling me no it did not have it. After they researched they said yes it does. They also told me other providers will active it but not T-Mobile

That might be partly true. Many chipsets these days are multipurpose. I'll use my old Nook Color as an example, because it had a WiFi chipset that did, in fact, include a Bluetooth transceiver. The device's hardware, however, had zero provisions for it. Developers figured out how to turn it on, but without the supporting hardware, Bluetooth range was less than 32 inches, nevermind 32 feet.
I'll wager if it's true, it's the same case with the N6. It very well may have a chip capable of receiving FM radio. That does not, by any means, suggest that it has the required hardware to use it. I doubt very much it has any supporting hardware or antennas to use FM radio.
Who uses FM radio anyways when you can use an app like TuneIn Radio and listen over data without reception issues?

People who listen to ballgames. The 30 second lag makes apps unusable at live sporting events.
Why would someone listen to a ballgame on the radio if they are there in person?

Many people like to listen to the play by plan while they are at the game. Its very useful when you are really far back and can not see the players to well.

AFAIK, having an FM chip on a phone doesn't mean you can receive FM radio transmissions on the phone b/c you need a proper FM antenna. The Nexus 6 only has 1 antenna on it and it is designed for use by the GSM/CDMA/LTE radios, not by an FM chip.
So like with a walkman/ipod, you would need to use the headphone wire as an FM antenna BUT AFAIK there would need to be a coupling b/t the headphone jack and the FM chip and there isn't unless the phone was designed to use the FM radio There is in some phones like the Moto G and Moto E, but the phone has to be designed to use the headphone wire as an antenna AFAIK.

Also because in many cities, like Atlanta, the radio guys are just better than the "visual" guys. I often watch the game on tv but listen on WSB AM
One teardown I read (can't remember which) explained that the 805 comes with an FM chip, however there is no wiring from it to the headphone jack for antenna. There is also no system support included by Qualcomm to use it. Unlikely to get that working without serious hardware modification & software integration.

Sprint Nexus 6 Has FM Radio
The Nexus 6 on Sprint has the FM Radio activated out of the box. You can check the specs on the website, it is called NextRadio.
FM Radio
I'm in the broadcasting industry, and my radio colleagues say there's a conspiracy at work here. They swear that every cell phone made contains an FM radio receiver. But - carriers prefer you use data rather than free airwaves, so most block it.
I don't know if that's true. But I do have one piece of personal information.
I own the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. WiFi only. And yes, it has a built-in FM radio. Even has an app for 'FM Radio,' and it works like a charm. It apparently uses the headphone cord for the antenna.
Then I also bought the Xperia Tablet Z2, with Verizon LTE. And...there is no FM radio access at all. No app, no mention of it, anwhere.
As for the Nexus 6, a thought: aren't they all pretty much identical? So, if one has FM capability built in, won't they all?
Regardless, the issue is bigger than just this phone. The radio industry has been trying for years to get free radio on cell phones. But, it's just not going to happen on some providers, , since they make money on data. But for those that allow it? Bravo.
