hello
I formated the internal sd card (with VOL UP + HOME Buttom + ON) but had a security copy of my contacts (i think it was .vcf file)
there is chance to recover it?
It is very important to me ... Thank you.
to start with, if you ever used the Android Market before the "accident"
then you should have a fully sync-ed copy of all your contacts
just reinput your gmail account to Android Market, and every will be back again
If that doesn't do it, go to settings, import/export and import the backup

ok thanks your help but i think lost contacts forever
If you have a vcf contacts file then restore it onto the phone via samsung kies. But if it was on the phone and you have wiped it then its gone. Take a look about your external menory card and see if its there.

Hi, I am running the official Sprint 2.1 rooted and I am going to unroot for reasons I don't feel like explaining.
But the thing I need help with is I need help backing up my contacts... I do not want to root and I don't know any way to do this. I just want my contacts to be backed up in a easy way. And I do not want to use outlook because my business contacts will be blurred with my personal contacts.
AND I would just write them all down, but I have 119 contacts and that would just be torture!
...Can somebody please help?
Yeah open your People app, hit menu, Import/Export > Export to SD card.
Of course there's also Google contacts sync
Oh. Okay, so when I run the RUU do I just take out my memory card so it won't get erased or will the memory card be untouched?
The sdcard should be untouched but if you want to be safe you can just back a backup of its contents by copy and pasting everything to your PC first
They aren't backed up already to http://www.google.com/contacts?
menu>settings>accounts & sync>gmail>menu button>sync now
grouping things together is really easy with the new google contacts manager, I can't imagine not using the cloud backup anymore, and I have been keeping backups of my contacts on every phone since 2003 through all kinds of methods.
Everyone should take a look at what is in the google dashboard now, if you haven't looked recently... you might be surprised.

So, I really want my contacts back and Samsung Kies does not support the 2.2 UCJI6 ROM captivate, what should I do?
Open to suggestions, I have a couple theories myself...
Can I flash back to the backup I created with clockwork mod before I flashed 2.2 and then sync the contacts from Kies and then to google?
Or is there a program or APP that can take the .SPB Backup file of contacts created by Kies and transfer them to my phone?
Solved.
I figured it out!
Well, I have KIES save the contacts to the VCard format into a folder and then put that folder on the External SD Card.
After that, I went into contacts, menu, import/export, and then imported those Vcards files.
Sad thing is that they are missing their categories but that is way better than not having them at all.
One thing I noticed about this ROm is I cannot select contacts to appear on the list They ALL do..from the SIM, Phone and Google. Even though there is a display options i can select phone only and ALL appear so I deleted SIM and PHone and just use Google Contacts. Otherwise I love the new ROM;
Anyone has such option in the contacts? Seems like there is only import/export to sim card but not SD card.
I do. It's just under import/export.
Why not import/export through gmail. Better yet just let gmail be the backup for your contacts.
I cant believe it, just updated to 2.3.3. via kies and the option to import/export contacts so SD is GONE?!?! WTF?!?! What is going on?
u need 2 use an aap contacts2sim pro
why using an app to store the contacts to SD? before updating from 2.2 to 2.3 this feature was standard in contacts.apk!
Simple
Put in the old contacts.apk

Hi.
I make a backup of all contacts i have in my samsung galaxy s plus and i send it from bluetoooth to the samsung galaxy note 2 and now i DON'T find anywhere at note2 the vcf file to restore the contacts of galaxy s plus.
Can anyone tell me where it stores the contacts vcf file the note2?
Already search at the bluetooth folder but the file it isn't here.
When i send the file and press propetries to this file it show me inbox\transfers but i don't find anywhere that folder and even with es explorer program i make a complete search for vcf file and didn't find it anywhere.
Can anyone help me and tell me where else i search or to what name store the contacts backup file the galaxy s plus?
The note2 isn't rooted it is with original 4.1.1 android version.
please tell me a way to find out this contact backup file where it is stored at note2 so i can restore the contacts to the galaxy s plus.
It doesn't make a backup at gmail account i was syncronize the galaxy s plus so the only solution is to find that file.
A LOT OF THANKS.
The vcf file has to be in the SD card. Transfering a file via Bluetooth allows the file to be in a folder somewhere else. Find a way to transfer it and still know where it is located.
Send it to the GMail and retrieve it. It will be on the downloads folder. Drag it out from the folder.

But EXACTLY that is the problem I DON'T know to which folder at note2 is send the vcf file.
And from the s plus there isn't anything at all because i do factory defaults so.....
If i know where it send the vcf contacts file at the note2 then i know what i do but the fact is I DON'T KNOW TO WICH FOLDER IS SEND THE VCF FILE OF CONTACTS(galaxy s plus) so....
How i find out(search) for that vcf file to entire note2?
If i connected to a pc like a memory device(flash disk) and not like mobile and search it from pc does i have any success or not?
You might have more luck finding it with your computer. Since you have cleared your galaxy s plus, you can only hope your Bluetooth transfer got through.
Since you said it can't be found on your Bluetooth folder, you might have failed the Bluetooth transfer.
Vcf file is stored in the SD card. Have you formatted your SD card too when you clean your galaxy s? You could have just reuse the SD card in your galaxy s.
If you don't use any SD card. It may still be in your internal SD as long as you did not format your SD when you factory reset.

At the note 2 i don't have delete anything at all.
At the galaxy s plus i have delete all with factory defaults option.
Neither of these two mobiles has external sd card.
As already tallied when i send the contact file i see it at the note2 status bar but i don't know to what folder is stored the file.
At bluetooth folder there isn't any that file.
How it name the vcf backup file the samsung galaxy s plus?
Maybe 00001.vcf
Yes it would be named as something like that. Your Galaxy S plus's internal sd may still have the vcf file. Check it out there. Or connect your note 2 to our computer and run a thorough search.
Factory data reset will not clear your internal SD. Only your apps. Files and folders are still intact unless you chose to reformat the SD in settings. So double check your Galaxy S plus's internal SD for the vcf file.

Hi,
I was having problems with some apps so i thought restarting the phone will be good but unfortunately it can not start anymore. It only shows the Samsung logo.
I tried to Wipe cache and restart but no luck
I know i can use wipe data / reset option but i have some contacts and photos on internal memory so i do not want to lose them.
How can i reset my Ace without losing my contacts/photos on internal memory?
PS: I do NOT use any custom roms/root or whatever, its original android version.
Thanks in advance!

Contacts: Pencil and paper
Photos: I'm sure photos are saved in /sdcard not in internal memory :s
You can backup your contacts using google backup or simply using contacts app "Import/export" option could save your contacts in your sdcard
The best way being root and using CWM, titanium backup, mybackup...
