Does anyone know what com.google.process.gapps is? I think, im not quite sure, but it might have started coming up randomly after I moved the caches to my sd card. It doesnt do anything when I hit force close, everything im still doing stay the same, its just annoying having it pop up periodically. Does anyone know how I can fix this without having to wipe my phone or anything? Thanks
wipes suck..
I used astro to copy all my apps to my sd so all I have to do is install each one , one at a time which is tedious but better than the market and, I have now noticed if I hadn't done that Id have to buy all the apps since I bought a second G1 in white gave my black one to my wife after a wipe, then used the same sd to re install stuff to the albino one.
But it seems to me that this point other than pinpointing the problem to 1 or 2 apps then kill them and hope it fixes the problem, not alot is known about these lil' suckers so most of the time wipe is the only option, but all your contacts mail & stuff is sync'd from the goog servers so its not as bad as rebuilding most pda/smartphones.
soon im sure things will get easier and better
bhang
Yea I think im jus going to backup my stuff with mybackup, then wipe it, cuz its really annoying
Be careful with that. I encounter problem a while back, cant remember what I did to cause it, but when I rebooted I had to sign back in to my gmail account and couldn't get a data connection with the setup wizard. I had to reflash all the way back to rc29.
I jus wiped it and and used mybackup 2 restore everything, but I encountered a problem with Download Crutch, whenever I tried to install another app after I installed Download Crutch it would ask me to choose what app to use to install the other apps, Download Crutch or Package Installer, and it would freeze at [email protected] screen and say "Android has enountered an error" or smthin, and ask to wait or force close, but it wouldnt allow me to choose, it would just freeze. So I uninstalled it and successfully reinstalled my other apps, everything is fine now, im leaving Download Crutch uninstalled
Linda File Manager has a "download crutch" built in (lets you pick what to associate files with). Download crutch seems to be just that small part of linda file manager. best file manager, imo. Astro is juuust behind it

Would you say Discover is below Linda as well, cuz I use Discover
You should have just clear data of gmail application and error would have gone.
How do you "just clear the Google data"?
hcleared gmail data but the error still comes up...
hi, I've cleared the gmail apps data just as the post above suggested, but the error still comes up... now everytime I open gmail it'll force close immediately.... appreciate any help.. thanks

com.google.process.gapps
I narrowed the problem down to "google talk" on my EVO. I went into settings about 30 mins ago and i haven't had a pop up yet.
If you frequently use Gtalk, there are other messaging apps such as Palringo that syncs with gtalk. Hope this helps!
try disabling Gtalk...worked for me.
How did you disable Gtalk? I removed Gtalk and it started having this issue in gmail... the only way I fixed it was by putting Gtalk back.
wiped entire phone and reinstalled everything again... dunno why this happens but when it starts I cannot revert it.

I think I had similar problems with my Googles Apps, and a few other apps. What I did was installed Titanium backup. Backup up the apps that I was having problem. uninstalled the apps, and reinstall them from the Market. And that solved my problem.
Hi!
I was experiencing the same problem, and I couldn't install anything from Market. The problem is caused by the gtalk service. If you have it uninstalled, you can get it from a dropbox link. Here it goes: dlDOTdropboxDOTcom PERuPER15246936PERgtalkservice.apk
Of remove the spaces and the other stuff. Unfortunately the forum does not let meg paste external links since i'm a newbie here.
A guy named SAPS uploaded it. Say hallelujah It solves both problems.
Cheers
Could you please give me some more details about what i have to do with this :
dlDOTdropboxDOTcom PERuPER15246936PERgtalkservice.apk
I also have the same problem. I can't download anyting from the market. And my knowledge about computers is not too much.

You press menu from your home screen
click on setting
click on applications
click on manage applications
click on all
click on "app name"
click on clear data
Don't ask me which app, cause I am still looking for it.
On my galaxy tab from tmobile, I cleared the following: contacts, gmail.
It fixed it
But on my G2 from tmobile, i ****ed up the sync, and had to restore it.
The app that I think that cause the problem for me was the bump app.
I'm taking a poll using fix number 4 for the fresh rom 2.1.2 the apps get uninstalled but do not get removed from the uninstall application menu and when selected it force closes on me. want to know if this is just me or dose this happen to everyone.

I would try wipe and reinstall. I used fix number 4 and my htc apps have been completely removed.
I have to agree, I am also still seeing com.htc.worldclock and com.htc.lockscreen and clicking on them does in fact cause a FC. But I can confirm that those apps are indeed uninstalled, so I don't see it as a huge deal. I don't like using the manage applications menu anyways because it takes so long to compute all the sizes and load all the names, so not a huge deal for me. You think that maybe whiping the dalvik cache might fix this? Just a suggestion, not sure what it would actually do.
I don't know i will try it i just hope it not related to a bigger problem
I tried wiping via recovery and it tells me to flash via adb shell I'm currently running recovery 1.5.2
I have found that even on 1.5 if you removed a system app after it was installed on the phone that it still left a trace on the phone. the way I got around it was just by downloading the ROM unzipping it changing what I wanted to change and then rezip and resign and then flash then there is no trace at all.
im not to sure how to sign a rom is there a good page tutorial for it.\
Thank you

Wiping Dalvik doesn't fix this problem for me. I have the same issue -- "ghost" items in your Manage Applications menu that you know you have already uninstalled.
One temporary fix I've found is if you go into the Manage Apps menu and "Clear Data" in either "com.smithmicro.DM" or "Download Manager", all the ghost apps and pieces go away. But this doesn't last through a reboot -- those all show back up again after every reboot, so it's not a permanent fix.
Any others have any luck with clearing these "ghost apps/pieces" out of the Manage Applications menu?
(I'm currently using ZenEXP MT3G ROM 0.9.6.3)
I haven't looked into it, but I noticed the same problem. The app list must be cached somewhere, which is interesting because it takes a good 10 minutes to load the app list every time i go to manage applications, which is why I rarely use it.
Ok, so I've had this rom running since it first came out. There's no problems with it, but these annoying market notifications won't go away. I've ignored it for a long time, about a couple months, haha. Is there a way of stopping them from popping up? Like, the market cache or something? The problem started when apps downloaded from the market didn't install. They pop up when I download from the market. And sometimes, at random.
And yes, it is raining that bad in Pennsylvania right now, haha.
Here's one more screenshot.
You could try going into settings and clearing market data and c if it works also I use a app called cache cleaner for root users u can get it from the market to clean the cache of a lot of apps on ur rom it has a lot of handy features IMO good luck
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
I tried that, it didn't work. :'(
same with stock rom
have the same problem with the stock rom. even if the app is deleted and the cache also, the old market notifications still show up when i download new apps from the market
only things i did to my phone are: root access and att bloatware uninstall
Bump. Anyone?
I have rooted captivate. since yesterday I can't download or update anything from market. It keeps saying 'starting downloads' and happens nothing. Even sometimes it says your item will be downloaded but again happens nothing.
I use black market too. Does it make my 'market' fail now? I don't have a clue...please help me.
Hey try re flashing the rom you have and see if that works, its worked for me before.

Make sure the Google Talk services are running.
Steps to try:
1) Clear market data, retry downloads.
2) Depending on the rom you are on, Froyo build, you may not have a unique Android ID. If this is the case, download Android ID Changer and change the ID to something other than seen. Next time you flash stock, get your unique Android ID and write it down so you can use in the future.
Good luck.
I didn't get Froyo yet, and I just rooted in order to get the permission of installing apps freely. so I didn't do anything with roms. And I realized that Google talk is not working. I never played that app becuase I'm using kakaotalk. It says signing in...but nothing happens. How can I erase maket data then. I think I should have study more before rooting. How does goolge talk running related to market?

Both the market and Google talk use this service called
Google Talk Service (or something like that)
If you use a program that blocks startup programs make sure both google talk and its service are greenlisted. In addition try to stop using any task killers to see if that is the problem.
And the massage "Sorry! The process com.google.process. gapps has stopped unexpectedly. please try again." comes out from time to time with 'force close' button.
What does it mean?

I think it is tied to GMail sync which is also tied to the Google Talk service I believe.
I uninstalled apps have chances auto killing that process. They are one click lag, auto killer memory, but nothing changed after rebooting. Even the same error message came out as soon as rebooted. The odd thing is that that task is still running when i check with android hackers. How can I control the start up apps?

Oh my Gosh!! I love XDA developers friends!! Thanks diablo, nbs !! I just found out other thread with same issue and fixed beautifully my captivate.
Here is what I did. I downloaded google talk services apps from here, and copy them to systems/app, and reboot. They are automatically downloading all the accumulated failed downloading after rebooting. I might have deleted some gtalk related apps by mistake. Hooray!!
Thanks all!!

No problem! The same thing happened to me a while back because I accidentally startup audited the service.
i cant seem to make this work for me? but I am having the same problem..
I am running stock 2.2 and I was removing the AT&T bloatware usting TiBa. Was only able to remove AT&T Navigator and AT&T Radio before the TiBa was no longer able to find the following apk files for some reason.
# AT&T Maps
# AT&T Music
# AT&T Mobile Hotspots
# Mobile Banking
# Mobile Video
Then all of a sudden the phone started giving me a message that:
LogsProvider has stopped unexpectedly and needs to resart and makes me force close but is in a constant loop along with TwLauncher. When I click Force close it closes the boxes but the screen stays black. I cannot see anything unless I hit the power button to lock the screen but it keeps popping up these stupid messages. What is wrong and how do I remedy it? Please someone help.
Now it is also saying Messaging, Daily Briefing, Google Services Framework and Calender is needing to force close.
you removed something you shouldnt have. and unless you can list everything you removed for us... you are going to have to flash to stock~! learning is fun!
The 2 bloatware apps listed are the only things removed. It may seem like stock is my only option here because the phone isn't letting me even access my applications menu to access TiBu to try and restore stuff.
Sounds like another deleted launcher. Use the search key on your phone to look up apps on your phone. Try searching for market and launching it from the search box, then look for launcherpro and install it. If not just use the search key to open TiBu and open it from there lol

It's basically locked in a force close loop. Bottom buttons won't respond. I take it I will end up using Odin3 to fix this whole mess? I just read up on it and seems like that is my option.
That'd be my last resort, but it seems that's where you're at.
I chock this up as a learning experience. LOL Is there a safer way to remove the bloatware without possible deleting needed files?
I just flashed a custom rom and made my cappy happy.

If you insist on keeping the stock ROM, I would recommend SGS Tools. It's capable of removing stock apps
