[Q] Wallpaper - not scrolling - a la iphone - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I know u can uncheck the wallpaper scrolling option in ADW, but i was wondering if someone has a trick to modify the selection area for setting your wallpaper.
Basically I would like that selection area of your wallpaper fits the size of N1's screen.
Right know the selection includes the scrollable area and when u make it "un-scrollable" you end up with just a part of the wallpaper ,
any idea?
thanks!

i don't think you can do it with the stock launcher, but other like ADW and LauncherPro have options like that.... although it looks weird after seeing how cool it is.

When you make the wallpaper, create it "full size" and then just leave whatever you want to stay put in the center of the wallpaper.
Don't crop it, set it, ????, profit.

Or search for Wallpaper Maker in the market, allows for custom cropping for a portrait image, or image stitching.

[Effect]homescreen 3D cube(and more)with MultiPicture Live Wallpaper and Launcher Pro

FOR THE USERS WHO JUST WANT TO SEE THE VIDEO DEMO:

Have you had an LG phone like the BL-40 Chocolate or the KP-500 cookie before with that cool 3d cube thingy, and wish you had the same for your android phone? Well, here's something that closely resembles that.
The chocolate had 2 home screens, and the wallpaper can be set differently for the two screens. When i bought the galaxy s, my very first android phone, i hoped that it had a similar thing, only now with 7 home screens to fill widgets with. Sadly, it didn't come with that feature (although the live wallpapers was a cool alternative).
And then i came across MultiPicture Live Wallpaper (free on the market) that let me set a different picture for each homescreen. AND it came with some AWESOME screen transitions. Also, you are not limited to just one picture, you can set a whole album to be shuffled for each homescreen. Cool yeah?
So i was impressed with that. Then I saw that launcher pro was having an update. In the newest version, Fede included some cool transition effects so I immediately updated and tried it out.
I don't know if it was fate or what, but the transition effects of the live wallpaper and launcher pro really work great together. Now my phone looks cooler than before!
Here's how to create the same setup
1. Download launcher pro. It's free and i believe the transition effects come with the free version.
2. Customize to your hearts content. Place widgets, shortcuts, etc just fill the homescreen with content so that you can see the effect.
3. Select transition effect. Press the context menu button while on your homescreen > preferences > homescreen settings > transition effect.
4. Download Multipicture Live Wallpaper and set it as your wallpaper
5. Set a picture for each homescreen. You can even set a whole folder to shuffle pictures from.
6. Set the transition effect that you want to go with your launcher pro transition effect. Press the context menu while on your homescreen>wallpaper>configure.
7. Enjoy!
Tip - go to launcher pro settings > advanced settings > minimum scrolling speed, then set it to 0.. it will slower the swipe speed (provided that you swiped your finger slowly as well)
Transition effects that go nicely with each other as shown in the video:
LP - Cube
MPLW - Cube
LP - Scale
MPLW - Swap
LP - Flip
MPLW - Swing

Multipicture live wallpaper question.

I did a search and pulled up nothing. My question is, is there a way to just set one wallpaper to work on all screens, so when you set scrolling wallpaper, it just scrolls to each side of the wallpaper??? The it's set up now, it puts a full wallpaper on each screen and stitches them all together, which kind of looks weird when you switch between them. If this can't be done, is there another app I can use or another way to get full screen wallpapers??
Anyone know.
Help someone???
can you re-explain your question.. im not understanding what it is that you are asking..
I have a live wallpaper that I have set.. and as I scroll the screen it stay right where it is.. no matter what I scroll to.
Yes you can. You need to disable transitions or animations. Have a dig through the live wallpaper settings and you should be able to find it.

Dig through the live wallpaper settings? Which ones? The ones in multi picture or are there some other wallpaper settings that I am unaware of? I am pretty sure that the OP was asking about getting a static wallpaper to span across all screens while also having the proper display resolution in both portrait and landscape mode. Something that is still evading me/us to this very day.
I really wish someone would come up with a fix for this.

That is what I am asking. When I set a non live wallpaper it wont allow scrolling wallpaper.
It sets a wallpaper for each screen and stitches them together.
I had same problem. Using ADW Launcher, went to adw settings and un-checked "allow wallpaper scrolling". Now just one wallpaper that my home screens scroll across.

Tried that, and then it doesn't scroll at all.

[Q] wallpaper problem

I'm having a problem with setting wallpapers. when i go into wallpaper selection mode from gallery, it opens up the crop box. No matter what part of the image choose within the box, when the wallpaper is set I get a zoomed in, further cropped version of what i had chosen, which pretty much looks pathetic. Any pointers on how I can get it to set correctly?
no idea, anyone?
It could be something to do with your launcher. Most launchers pan across the wallpaper as your scroll through different screens. Depending on the launcher you may be able to turn this feature off.
Sent from a galaxy far far away.
The same thing happens on my Galaxy Ace!!! I have no idea what to do anymore. >:/

Template for Nova Launcher themeing

Hi,
in the last few months I really start to like the theme with a static wallpaper (or multi wallpaper) where there is just everything and you use uccw/transparent icon on the phone.
I'm then having problem because often is hard to understand where a widget will be really positioned or is hard to put an icon in the right position (maybe you want to add a counter to it and the counter is not matching the icon in the wallpaper).
I'm using nova launcher (not sure why I choosed that, apex was a little bit laggy scrolling wallpaper and...ss launcher I didn't know about it but right now I love it but because I purchased nova, let's keep nova).
What I'm then wondering is if there are template with line where you can exactly understand where the grid of nova are (7x7, 6x7 and so on) or if someone has some suggestion on how to do that.
I already tried to just craete a pics in photoshop with the resolution of the htc one x and splitting it in 7x7 grid but, not sure why, my grid isn't matching the real grid of the nova homescreen (maybe because there is no notification bar on the top?? don't know).
Any suggesiton or premaded template around (tried to google it but without any good result).
Thanks,
Massimiliano
I do the same thing for my homescreen setups. Icons on wallpaper, etc. What you are going to want to do is create all the settings you want on nova. The grid, hide notification bar if that's what you want (it will change the size of spacing in the grid) then put an icon in every space. Preferably a square icon. Take a screenshot, and import it into Photoshop. Create a new action (Google "Photoshop actions") and create guides around every one of your icons. Save the action as the name of the grid size you were using in nova so its easy to remember for later. Then go to the wallpaper you were planning on using and run the action. The guides you made in the previous document will show up and you can use that to format where your Widgets/icons will go.
If you're still confused I could make a little video tutorial tomorrow if you'd like.

Me 2 trieing to make 3 homescreen wallpaper with "no icons" (blank png above icons on wallpaper). I perfectly understand what u trying to say and i think this is the way to do it but i got a problem. I can use guidelines as action for positioning but wall res (which i do in photoshop) is 1440x1280 and screenshot is 540x960. So cant get that accurate position even with guidlines... So my screenshot is little "zoomed in" when i put it in photoshop. Should i "level" it back by manual expand till my eye thinks its good or? Any suggestion?
Hi mates, have anyone of you eclipse template for Nova Launcher?

Wallpaper Set Issue

Some of you may be familiar with my typical home screen layout and custom wallpapers that I make on my PC. Well, I'm now experiencing issues with applying wallpapers to my home screen. Everything is slightly off, and not aligned properly. It appears that the phone is "zooming in" the wallpaper as it sets. Like, I'll have a border separating the notification bar area and my home screen but when applying the wallpaper that border is moved further up into the notification area. Like I said, the wallpaper seems to be "zooming in" as I set the wallpaper to my home screen.
I'm using Nova Launcher Prime. 12x12 grid. No dock.
I tried using Apex Launcher and ran into the exact same issue.
I've restarted the launcher. Restarted the phone. Used different photo apps to apply the wallpaper to the home screen. Nothing has fixed this. I'm not sure what else to try. If anyone here has any idea on why wallpapers are distorted (zoomed in a bit) as I apply them to my home screen, please help. Thanks!
ETA: Added two screen shots with a specific wallpaper that I found online to help show you what I'm talking about. When I see the preview of what setting the wallpaper will look like, it doesn't apply that way after setting the wallpaper.
Sweet, baby Jesus! I found the solution!
Please let this be a PSA for everyone who may run into this issue. The culprit was that stupid "Motion Effect" option while using the One UI launcher. You have to make sure when switching back to it from a third party launcher like Nova that you choose the "always" option so that it's your default launcher (stock launcher). Then when you do that and choose to apply a wallpaper, you'll see the "Motion Effect" option right under the image. Uncheck that stupid thing and your wallpapers will not longer "zoom in" like they did before.
Now, everything is lined up as it should!
