If you are NOT running FROYO, how do you view Youtube videos when someone sends you a link? When I click on the link, I get the option of using Explorer or Youtube. When I select Youtube, it says "Video cannot be played".
Also, when I goto manage apps in setup, there is not a youtube app (but I clearly have one installed)?

I dont have any Video Player app other than the Youtube and Stumble Video but when i open my file manager app (Discover) and click on my videos in my sd card they actually play. Not sure how but they do.
android has a player built in. I can view mms videos without any extra software as well
totally true.. i was able to play my videos using Astro file manager.. limited functions though.. downloaded Meridian player and for me, the best in the Market as of now.. awesome touch control..
It's always been the case. If you DL a video, and you leave it in the web browser's downloads list, you can always launch it from there too.
If you accidentally clear the list, or you load the video via USB, or a card reader, you cannot get to them without a 3rd party app.
The basic Movie Player app is nothing but a user interface that allows you to select and open the file.
I notice on my G1, whenever i tried looking for an OFFICIAL Music Video of anything on the Youtube APP it does not show it at all. Even though it is there
Whenever i search it via google or youtube.com, it showed the video, but when played via youtube app it said video cannot be played.
Anyone know of any solution for this? Beside downloading it via keepvid.com?
Sorry it may be a stupid question, but its aggrevating me.. what the point of youtube when you cant even watch your fav music video.. the real ones lol

I don't know of anyway to bypass this. It is very annoying. The only alternative I know of is to try the YouTube downloader.apk
Sometimes when a video is freshly added, it won't show up on the mobile version for a while. Usually the official videos are added like every minute and then pulled from youtube. Maybe the video is getting pulled and then just added, that's why its not converted to mobile yet? That's my guess.
Ahh that sucks I guess there nothinn we can do I think somee sort of filter on the youtube browser. Is there any aftermarket browse that would the same as youtube app?
There's no filter.. Our devices only play mp4 or 3gp (mobile formats), so the vidoes on our youtube app or the ones we can play from the mobile youtube site are in mobile phone format. When a video is uploaded to youtube.com, it takes a while to get converted to a format playable on mobile phones. That's why are unavailble for a while (on our devices) after they're uploaded on youtube.com.
Do you understand now?
Videos that violate copywrite laws are pulled from youtube usually before they are converted to a mobile format.

Clear defaults on your browser, and when asked select youtube app as standard application.

ok i found the problem the new facebook app 1.81 can't play videos over youtube app! i tryed the old version of facebook and it works! also i tryed the dolphin and opera browser and the 1.81 version of facebook asks me with witch browser to open the video there is no youtube on the list...
This is becoming a pet peeve. I open a link to a page, say on Gawker, on my Nexus 7. There is an embedded YouTube clip, and no direct link to the video. The only thing I can do when I tap the video is play it embedded. There is no YouTube button or title to click. If I long-press I get a menu full of options that don't actually work when I tap them. The only way to get it into the YouTube app (and hence into Chromecast) is to search out the video on YouTube manually or locate the link using a desktop browser.
Is there any easy way folks here have come up with, to quickly take an embedded YouTube clip and force it into the YouTube app for casting?
You can actually download any video from video providers such as YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion just in 2 clicks using a terminal app called Termux without root!!
I made a video on it!! Check it out!!
MOD EDIT: VIDEO DELETED
