MteoR WM6 Question. - HTC Breeze

Hey guys, I found my old Mteor from a junk box and thought I'd use it as my second phone.
But I'm curious about two things. 1.) Which versions of the WM6 roms for Mteor is the best in both terms of usability and stability? Secondly, is there any way to get TouchFlo on the Mteor? (I'm thinking more or less like the old, 2d touchflo).
I'm not too well versed with flashing, so I thought I'd ask first before just downloading some random rom.
Thanks a bunch guys!

Anyone? Hello? (Echo echo echo...)

Everythink is described in the forum. Read before you write question!!!

I have read the topics, which are quite numerous and leaving me a bit unsure as to what's the best course of action. Something I was hoping to convey and get help with. So thanks for your unhelpful post.
There are a ton of WM6 roms for the Mteor, many from a couple of years ago. I need something pertinent to my question today. What may have been the best rom 6 months ago isn't now, and the newly released rom might not be as good as the rom released three months ago.
Catch my drift? I'm rather confused as to which rom does the community think is "the best".
For example:
There's this ROM and then there's this ROM. But I've also looked at this one and this one. Is one of them the "defacto" for using on the Mteor? Or are they all the same and it doesn't really matter?

fastest ROM?

which ROM is the fastest in speed (for O2 minis)?
thanks 4 reading!
[edit by V: please try to use a ? for a question, ! for a statement]
2.67.12 is the fastest by far
thanks for reading
i'm joking ofcourse
if you actually spent the time to READ the forum YOURSELF you'd know the answer yourself already....dont be lazy and expect the work be done for you...
rom speed is very subjective anyways as there is no baseline for the standard configurations....some have registry tweaks some dont so it's comparing apples to oranges

You know people come here for advice NOT sarcasm!
I have been a forum memebr form some time and I knwo that when I originally came here I also did not know what was best for my phone.
It was only through the help of curteous members that I managed to understand what was going on.
Save your sarcasm for yourself!
besides my beta rom i would vote for molski's 2.26.. its what i based mine off of... its the fastest i have come in contact with
oooo, looks like i got you mad paul...tough
maybe if you were such a helpful soul you should've concentrated on the original poster's question instead of thread crapping. I was merely suggesting he/she get familiar with the forum as it's a vast wealth of information.
if bachikho would have come in with an educated question which showed some kind of effort i'd be more than happy to help but the OP was obviously meant as an easy way out...or so i see it and i'm entitled to my opinion.
as far as rom's go, bachikho, your o2 mini s is a variant of the htc wizard and as things stand right now i'd try reading about the aku2.3 roms that are floating around. they seem to be the fastest and the most stable at the moment. Molski's and mrclean are my favs. I'm currently running the aku 3.2 rom and i'd stay away from it for now.
I agree with chudy, searching and reading is best. If everyone searched and read the forums, we wouldn't have these same questions being asked over and over. I've CID unlocked, SIM unlocked, registry tweaked, changed many different ROMs on my various Wizard (And Universal) devices I've owned this year w/o asking a single question because everything I needed was found using the search feature, simple as that.
Back on topic; I've tried several ROMs, including some of Summiter's cooked ROMs and the fastest one I've tried is the Mr. Clean AKU 2.3 ROM. I haven't tried some of the latest ones; still enjoying Mr. Clean too much
I disagree with Chudy. There are a myriad of posts and pages to read about the various ROMs and it's not easy, maybe even possible, to work out (without trying them) which ROM might be the fastest from all the information given.
Paul makes a valid point, there is no need to be sarcastic. If you didn't like the question bachikho asked, you could have easily ignored it instead of being so pompus.
Shogunmark's answer was succinct and to the point, as was the last paragraph of DavidT's. Those are the types of answer that we are after.
achick, thank you for the very necessary and beautifully eloquent rebuttal to my reply to the OP. I almost had to whip out a dictionary You adding your two cents to the off-topic thread crapping is appreciated by everyone I'm sure.
in this open forum, everyone is fee to express their opinions. since we're expressing our feelings and emotions cause thats what we should expect from a technical forum, i do warmly thank you again for pointing out the obvious and putting it in one succinct post for us to digest along with your affectionate commentary, all of which has everything to do with ROMs. Way to go, keeping your eyes on the ball! Takes me back to my college psychology class and the pointless discussion sessions (sorry i come from an engineering background)...
now, lets get back on track...since the OP stemmed from the need for speed in a ROM it sure would be nice to establish some kind of baseline testing methodology. Is anyone familiar with any pocket pc benchmark applications? I'm wondering if there is something analogous to 3dmark or Sandra In the Pocket PC world.
Has anyone tried any of the tools listed in the link below?
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Developer-Tools/Benchmarks/
i think i'll try some of them if there is no de-facto standard already in use and compare my aku2.3 and aku3.2 roms....i'll be back to report back with some results later on (and i promise to stay on-topic )
chudy,
did not mean to rain on your parade. Im just used to all the people on this forum to be very helpful and attentive.
I see that you have in fact been just that after your replies..
Kudos to you!
I am going to try the rom posted by risidoro
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=61997
I also am in dire need to update my phone ROM. I reading everything form Xelecin not cooking any more roms, I think the one above seems to fit the need nicely since it is based off of a Tmobile Rom.
Cheers all.

quick and to the point is all you need... and i do feel that some n00bs feel the need to post the same questions over and over cause either A. they get flamed for answering the same question and never really get a good answer.. and B. because so many n00bs ask the same questions it clutters up the board for doing searches.. its kinda like [email protected] if you do, [email protected] if you dont...
i would also like to mention that there are so many roms on the ftp that finding the one that best works for you is merely trial and error, i cant even count how many different roms i tried before i found one that worked great.. then i grew a set of [email protected] and cooked my own
You could do what I do. . . just go to the rom posts, in the forum, with the many trailing pages of replies. lol That way, you know what problems to expect.

lol.. that doesnt always indicate problems.. in the case of my beta, there hasnt really been any problems, most of it is just extra freeware apps people want.. or little extra goodies that people want for improvement, but nothing wrong with the actual rom itself.. judging by the many posts on mine and the comments of others it seems to be a very fast and stable rom
I think the T-Mobile AKU 2.5 is the fastest ... That's what I noticed when working with it ...
Fast is a relative thing. Some are faster than others but unstable. Others are not quite as fast but more stable. The stock T-mobile 2.26 is pretty fast and rock solid. That AKU 3.x is supposively very fast and, judging by the now almost useless thread, very unstable. So pick your poison. I use the stock T-Mobile 2.26 rom because this is my phone, not an expensive toy waiting to be turned into a paperweight, and what good is fast when it resets on it's own every 10 minutes?
I have been using the risidoro ROM for several days now and I really like it.
has a ton of great features built into the ROM that I normally would have to install myself.
I have tweaked a few things and I have to say that my phone boots much faster now and also memory use is MUCH better than before due to his registry tweaks to offload mem usage to the SD card.
I recommend it!
I have also been using the risidoro custom rom, and it does marvles for me. And he is always checking the thread to help a fellow noob out.

Schap's WM6 ROMs for Kaiser?

Dear Kaiser users,
After many of you aked me for making WM6 ROMs for Kaiser, I am now thinking about it but I wouldn't like to such a work if there is not a serious demand...
So I would like to ask you (especially former Hermes owners who used my ROMs) if you are really interested (or not!) in having a Kaiser version of my last ROMs (and eventually some multilanguages versions):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1696394&postcount=1
Yes! Definitely interested!
Schaps,
Not a former Hermes user (TyTN II is my first HTC unit) , but I've seen enough of what you've done elsewhere to clearly answer: YES, Please!!
Cheers,
Søren
Hell yea!
I've been flashing my old tytn 1 soooo many times and ive always ended up with your latest stable release, i love everything but the color but thats something i can live with or change myself.
to be honest i still havent flashed my tytn 2 due to knowing myself and how i get carried away my tytn 2 still feels "new" and im not sure if there is a swedish official rom to go back to in case of trouble that would result in sending my phone for warranty.
but then again... still browsing this forum atleast a couple of times a day i know it wont be long until i put it i hard-spl mode and flash myself untill insanity.
please shaps keep up your good work for the hermes and atleast through us at kaiser a few breadcrums every now and then - that would make atleast me happy
cheers
//jonte
I am a previous Schaps ROM user... & YES is the answer
Schaps..... we had some communications in the past, I even donated.. I would donate again when my means change very soon.... i just received my first Tilt from AT&T (HTC 8925). Looking forward to tweak this puppy up...
As I am a ROM junkie, I always appreciate and welcome a new ROM cooked by experts like yourself.
I know you have just released the 8525 Hermes 4.2.0 ROM...Do you have one for the Kaiser II ( HTC8925) yet? Please post as soon as possible.
Thanks for all the work.
We are very happy to hear that Schaps is in Kaiser team!!! And we surely say yes to a cooked ROM from Schaps!!!
Shaps definitely after tour breakthrough in the hermes community can't wait even from a small time cook as me. I would really love to test your roms. and also hope you can find a easy way around the xip porting for kaiser

DO we need a SUBforum "Wing Mobile 6"

Hi there,
do we need a subforum for Wingusers only??
If so i would ask to create a new subforum...
Please vote for 1 week after that time I will delete this thread again....
Thanks
Daniel
it would be nice to have a area for wing specific threads, gets kinda confusing for what works with the wing and what doesnt
I remember as a newb it took me quite a while before I figured out that herald=atlas=wing and a subforum I think would help everybody out.
yess. took me so long to figure out its the same phone lol..
dam temobile and there renaming
I'd like to see a tmobile wing specific sub-forum as well.
Great idea. Being a newbie, it took me a while to get piece everything together....When I started out, I was on the other Wing forum and it took a while for me to figure out the whole Herald/P4350 thing...
pffft. No. There's not that much Wing-specific WM6 content here. It would be a waste and it would also look really empty...

I think that it would be helpful for new folks getting started.
I voted yes, but since david made the cab to fix keyboard for wing users Im not gonna cook wing specific roms. And all my roms will be posted in Herald wm6
I have voted no. My reasoning is that the most notable difference between the two devices are minimal (the keyboard mapping) which has basically been resolved by David Duprat. Although it may be a bit more organized, I think it would be a waste since the majority of the questions are not device specific. I would hate to have to jump between forums looking for an answer that could apply to all herald like devices.
But hell I'm flexible.

Ditto.......we've obviously all found it, why do we need a new forum with duplicate info?
I think if any we should ad another section under Herald (and possibly for other devices as well) that is dedicated to new roms and kitchens. This would clean up the existing forums quite a bit.

Agreed. There's no real reason. It's just going to slow down the production of new ideas since they'll be divided between two camps. It's the same device minus the keyboard driver.

The more I think about it, the more I want to take my vote back. Add one more to no and subtract from yes.
I voted Yes, just for the sake of clarity, and organized structure.
And it spares us many questions like : ''Will this work on my Wing/Herald?" wich,
even with David Duprat's solution wil be asked several times more.
Although the Herald Mobile 6 forum is already full of mixed stuff, it doesn't really matter that much.
still I think it's better

It works on both. The keyboard might not match, though...
But if they don't read the heading or the post that talks about it being a herald or wing item, why would they read the forum name? j/k
Personally, I think it would be ridiculous to open a new forum... Sure, it might make things "more organized" ... but its also going to be a pain in the ass... and besides the ROM, what other DEVICE SPECIFIC questions arise? NONE what so ever.
So you're going to split everyone and basically the only thing that's going to be happening in the new forum is a topic for Ivan's roms and a topic for ttran's roms...
I say keep it together, it makes more sense. I don't want to have to jump around yet another forum when the devices are the same, except for the keyboard problem, which has a solution now.
the only pro for me is - that noobs can find things more easyly.....
and at the moment 75% say yes (nearly 50 votes)
take it from a noob, it took me close to 2 weeks b4 i learned the herald was the wing p3 whatever it is... lol
im still totaly confused by all this
maybe instead of a new form just add WING to the title page
"Also known as: HTC P4350" is what it says
make it say
"Also known as: HTC P4350 / T-Mobile Wing"
maybe a well layed out sticky thred,
explaining the differances of each model of this phone
i run a few forusm myself and keeping things streamlined is a pain.
but this is a tricky one...
I agree with nyitalian718. Just rename the forum to Herald/Wing.
We'll be the only forum to have a non-HTC codename. hehe
I'm going with nyitalian718 and ivanmmj's opinion of adding all the known names of the Herald/Wing to the list just like in any other sub-forum.
It's not too much ask if a noob has to read some pages/stickies. All of us started like this and gain their knowledge.
At the end every major topic/problem has been dicussed at least once.
And the last thing I would recommend a new PDA owner is to void the warranty by flashing his device.
He should first get familiar with his PDA and then read the infos on this forum.
Papamopps and the core members of the Herald/Wing community did a great job on writing guides and tutorials on...let's say on everything

Advice

Hello everyone,
having read the Kaiser wiki fairly extensively, I still haven't been able to find the answer to the most important question I had about it.
I recently purchased a v1615 (Vodafone branded Tilt) and the geek inside of me is burning to install a new rom onto it as the one that came with it sucks bad.
Would anybody be able to suggest which are the most popular (i.e best for most common usage) roms out there at the moment?
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give me.
Gab
The original rom in my tilt was very slow. I flashed my kaiser with one of Dutty's roms and its now much faster and already has most of the software I need already installed.
I like Duttys but Slueth has been the best for me so far.

If you really want to let the true geek in you out to play. Try them all. And I will see you at the NExt Flashers Anon Meeting.
hehe,
I appreciate all the advice.
I already have had a bit of a look around the forums now all I need to do is figure out which roms are where and then I'll start trying stuff out... thanks guys
Edit: Also, I have never actually flashed a smartphone before, I bow to those of you who have been in the "business" for a while, but me thinks I might need a bit more time to learn... the thing is, what sort of chance do you think there is that the whole process will drive me crazy? Seems a lil complicated, but doable so far. Just need to understand what all the various different things are for. (I.e. why radios aren't included in roms, and what they are actually for ..yaeh, im THAT noobish).
Anyhoo, thanks again fellas.
If you can follow simple intructions then I think you're going to be ok.
I'm sure I will be fine, but I have a feeling I might take advantage of the more generous of you at some point in the future again...

Edit:
All joking aside, you'll be fine. You have already done more than most by reading the Wiki. Might I also suggest the FAQ Wiki. Have fun and welcome to Rom Flashers Anon.

Welcome to the flashing club lol.
There is no "best" rom , just find the one that you think is "best" for you.
Yea, the Wiki and Faq here is very noob friendly. I started up as a new ppc user , but It has been so smooth. Most of the flashing trouble can be recover , as long as you dont mess with advance stuff like MTTY .
Try Dutty rom , they are very popular and updated frequently.
make sure you have hard SPL before flashing.
Peeps here are very friendly , as long as you read and research before any question.

which 6.5 rom should i use help!

hi i just recently purchased a touch hd telstra and am about to flash it with a 6.5 , there are a lot of talented people here with their own versions of 6.5, is there one that is the most standard rom with everything included and which one would that be?
Goodness me, this genre of question is asked two to three times a day, do some of your own investigating and research and in future follow the forum guidelines, dont be so arogant!

If you have to ask, you are probably better off sticking to the default ROM you phone comes with.
i suggest to make a sticky with the title 'NO WHICH ROM TO USE TOPICS HERE!!!!'
but not even that will stop some ppl from posting that ****.
You could even use the word KNOW instead of NO
I have a feeling this thread will be closed soon.
No ROM is the "best". Each excel in some ways and its up to you to decide whats best for you. Its a bit like asking someone for some good music. they will only tell you what they think is good, not necessarily what is good for you.
what does this mean? youre gonna have to try them all and see which you like most (shouldnt take more than an hour or so as there arent that many)
