When I try to attach a file in my mail client (K-9) it seem like Android and not K-9 gives me a choice to choose a filetype. The only choices are Gallery, Music player and Voice memo. If I go to the file explorer I can click any file and choose to share it through K-9.
When I want to upload a file to Dropbox I can choose Pictures, Videos, Audio and Any file. If I choose Any file I get the same menu with Gallery, Music player and Voice memo.
How do I add any filetype to that Android-menu?
I' ve read somewhere that only filetypes that has an associated program will show but in that case at least .pdf and .doc should be available too.
What's the point of this system and how do I change it?

how do i change the player for streaming video to TCMCP. I'm running WM6.1
no one? is it possible?
I think you have problems getting answers because they are there already to find by searching.
Depends on the video type. The easiest way is to try launching a video. Then using a advanced files explorer like Resco, navigate to \My Documents. There you will probably find a playlist file with a .m3u extension.
Again with an advanced file explorer like resco, you click & hold on it, the select open with, then browse to the player .exe you wish to use, then check the box that say "Always use this prograsm for this file type".
You're done.
I ripped some DVDs to watch on my cappy using handbrake and after transferring them to the sd card, tried internal and external, I don't get a thumbnail or title for the movie in Gallery. I uploaded them into a dir called "MyVideos" in the root of my external card.
I'm running the perception ROM, no tweaks or mods. But I've had this issue with every ROM so far (Cog, Stock, etc)
Anyone find a work around to labeling movies for Gallery? I can browse to the folder using Astro and can read the files names, which I guess could be a reasonable work around, but would prefer to use Gallery.
Look in the video player app, they shold be listed there.
Use whichever file manager app you have to rename it by long pressing on the file.

Videos Listing in Gallery
The videos in Gallery are listed in "thumb nail" format. Which sometime can't be easily identified. Is there a way to change it to list by file name instead?
Ok so I download an mp3 using one of the many mp3 apps out there (Music Box Pro) I have it set to download to SD/Music
When I open up file explorer I SEE THE FILE in this directory, and I can, via this explorer app, select and open the song and listen to it.
But why can't I locate it on Winamp ? Why can't I use a ring tone maker to locate and use this song ? It finds many other songs -- but not the ones I download
anyone know why ? is a permissions thing ?
basically I am wondering why I can't access the songs I download - I can't assign them to play lists, etc. or use as ring tones. Why not ?
Try finding the music box pro file on sd card and if it exists open it and if the tracks are in it then copy them to another folder ie sounds

nah, I have it so that the tracks are automatically downloaded to my /sd/music folder -- yet still can't really access them or find them it's as if they don't have permissions, it's really messed.

You click the link and it downloads?
For setting mp3 as ringtone.. go to the song in musicplayer > menu key > set as ringtone
,
when i click on download links the music startrs playing ...dosnt download on mobile..and thx for the ringtone thing
You can hold the link and push to save the link. If it doesn't work in the default browser then try Dolphin or Opera.

To be able to set MP3's as "system ringtones" make a folder on your sdcard and name it "media."
Inside that folder, make another one named "ringtones" and put your MP3's in there. Now when you go to Settings>Sounds>Phone Ringtone your MP3's will now be read as system ringtones.
As for downloading MP3's on your phone, why not use one of the apps in the market to download MP3's ?
Thx guys followed ur advise works ok now

Built in gallery is good enough for me but after loading some music with JPG covers gallery started to show them.
Is there a way change this? I've seen tutorials with tip to change folder.jpg (or similar files) to cover.jpg <- not working for me.
What can I do with it?
Go under gallery settings hide/unhide albums

It9working but I have a lot of music albums so it's a lot of hiding
I'll probably change gallery app but thank you for your help
I've always used a .nomedia file in the main directory of my music folder which makes the gallery app not see any of the images. Keep in mind, your music player whatever it is, will need to have an option to ignore .nomedia files, or it won't be able to see the music either. I myself use PowerAMP for tons of FLAC files, and this has worked perfectly
On Windows it should be really easy to create, if you have windows file extensions enabled. Just create a blank text file, and rename it to .nomedia. On Linux, it should be even easier. If you have trouble, you can download mine from here.
Let me know if you have any issues
