Hello guys and girls,
I recently went from an htc desire to iphone 4, it was like going back in technology. sure, the screen is awesome and the design is good, but at the end of the day it's like an ipod itouch It's boring, now desire was fun to play with. I never got bored of it. So, if anyone thinking about going from desire to iphone 4 it's not worth it.
Well, Apple sucks, that's a given; but please give a list of the things you don't like about it.
It's nice to have some more fodder for later arguments about WHY Apple sucks...
There are many reasons that i dislike about the iPhone, these are that come to mind. First, the check board in safari is really annoying, like on android i never got any checker boards, while scrolling up faster even when the page was loading. Next, is the row of icons is just plain and too simple... Another is having no adobe flash and no click toggle. I read Manga and the manga readers in app store suck...
I do like the built quality, I hope more android devices are built without getting a plastic feeling.
No matter if it´s 2, 3, 3gs or 4 all are the same sh....t
It's good to hear that you value Flash. So many iPhags want to say that they don't need it...

Well, it's not great build quality with all the broken glass iPhones all over. Have you touched the G2 yet? It's incredible. My TP2 was a great build, but the G2 is a thing of beauty. Only more greatness to come from HTC.
People have made weight such a big deal over the years. Like your phone is going to anchor you when you dive into water. Why is weight such a big deal? What difference does it really make? I would love to have a hardcore metal design rather than cheap light plastic.
android is an open source and that makes it so powerfull thus you can transform it anyway you want..

The apps on itunes are just plain overcrowed now and apps is no biggy for me any more...as i have an ipad if need be and obviously windows 7 has MS games which some are good.

No, it's a guide to help you help you migrate. Should you decide that's what you want to do.
yes and i appericiate that thanks...i just wondered if anyone has made the move...i'm stuck whether to keep the phone or not..
Nearly there...
I'm a iPhone 4 32Gb owner since June launch day with a HTC HD7 on it's way to me in the next few days or week (all depending on USPS First Class International Mail!). Once I get it, I will upgrade it with a SanDisk 32GB Class 2 with help with another thread here.
I'm looking forward to the HTC HD7 and I know deep down there will be some things that will niggle me about WP7... however, I just want to have decent notification which WP7 has! Jailbreaking the iPhone has been easy (but the present jailbreak is 'teathered'- urgh!).
I've been using 'Notify Pro' which has been a pain on the iPhone. To be honest, I thought why am I wasting my time with this buggy third party app from Cydia to get something which should be standard in the first place. I'm also impressed how it has so far integrated FaceBook in WP7, but Twitter needs some tweaking I hear.
I most probably miss the 'iPod ecosystem' (docks and car ICE) but hoping the WP7 UI will wow me and the screen size does look great for browsing the Internet and watching media (Use to have a HTC HD2 and loved the screen but not the constant rebooting!).
I'm planning to keep the iPhone 4 and HD7 for a few months... perhaps, Microsoft's upgrade in January might swing it for me finally!

I have had both
they are both excellent
the HD7 has a superior user interface, in that you can switch between a tiled status screen and a list of icons. Its also slicker and cooler (whatever that means )
the larger screen is great. the web browser is slightly slower but it can render some things the iphone browser can't, e.g. go to unlocking.com and try the drop-downs on the iphone ..... I will also be able to do flash at some point, something apple has vowed not to do
its drawbacks are that the app storee has some fun stuff but its small compared to apple. The biggest thing about the WM7 user interface, the active tiles, need to be expanded more. i would like something "HTC sense" like. Obviously we are also waiting for cut & paste in the Jan firmware release.
There is apossibility of expanding the HD7's memory manually as well, as its actually an embedded MicroSD card which many folk have already taken out and replaced with a 32gb one.
thanks alexander for your insight..its just i have had an iphone since 3g, 3gs, 4 and suddenly i thought i need a change i also have had hd2 which i loved..but because of the bugs it had to go..i also have 32gb iphone 4 but one thing is bothering me is "you don't know what you have got until it has gone" i think i will have another go tonight

it depends on the person. the iphone is more compact and more beautiful (although the HT7 is also very nice).
you first need to decide whether you are comfortable with the size of the device.
also, have you purchased many iphone apps ? you might have "buyer remorse" letting these go
i personally continue to use both. I get bored of the iphone very quickly, then the HD7 is more fun. But then I miss my apps so go back to the iphone for a bit ....
If you have no app investment then definitely try out the HD7
Hello,
I have both and to be honest, I don't know which one to advice..... ;-))
Both are great in differents ways, iPhone is iPhone and I have had one since the first model. I have had plenty of Windows mobile device about 15, I guess.
Now, WP7 looks great, integration with Facebook and of course Xbox live...this is THE point.
I love having my Xbox live account with me all the time, having success on my phone when away from home....
On an other side, I'm so used to my iPhone, I have plenty of softwares I know and I like very much....
So, I decieded to keep both for the moment with 2 SIM cards, like this I have the best from both....
To be honest I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab as well and it's so great....
So the best, if you have enought money, is to have one of each... ;-))
Regards,
I went from iPhone 3G S to the HTC HD7 (T-Mobile branded). There's not much I'm missing. Maybe tethering but I'm sure that will soon be fixed. I like not having to convert anymore of my music. I can load the CD and burn it to hard drive and I can play it straight away on the phone. I don't have to convert it to Apple format to make it portable. I like that I can swap the battery too. Couldn't do that with iPhone. There's a few other nuances but that will happen with anything new. That's only one perspective though. Keep watching for the suggestions and feedback.
I have both the iPhone 4 (haven't sold yet) and the HD7 (just got).
I feel like the operating system on the HD7 is so much better than iOS, but that is going to be personal preference, varying with what people want to do, how techy they are, etc.
As far as the actual phones go, I love the HD7. It's not a retina display, but the size is fantastic and colors vibrant.
Honestly, the only things I miss from my iPhone are jailbreak apps. The new windows OS has already been hacked, so it's only a matter of time until I have them again

Got the chance to play with the blackberry playbook and this thing is amazingly fast almost as fast as ipad2. Multitasking is mind boggling i tried running 4 hd videos simultaneously and never had a single hickup. I love the interface a lot better than an ipad and android. Hulu works in the browser as its a full web browsing experience. The lcd screen is as good as the ipad if not better as the color is more saturated the only downside is the fewer apps available. The dual core texas instrument 1ghz processor with parallel multitasking does makes the difference its so much fun to use.

Curious, how does one run 4 HD videos at once?
Seems okay but still think I will opt out for the ipad2 just cause its more well put together tablet and it just works. Like the fact you will be able to run some android apps on it, don't like the fact that you MUST have an blackberry(with the bb data plan) to fully use the tablet at times.

I got the first gen iPad but the lack of full web functionality turned me off after a while. Not being able to view... practically half of the internet because of the lack of flash was a big thing for me. That and the fact that, while it's a great machine and great for what it does, it's kind of limited in what all it can really do.
iOS is boring; to me anyway. And after the initial magic and shine wore off... there was really nothing interesting to do with the device.
Yeah I think I am on the same boat. Ios is very limited. Looking into getting the playbook this weekend.
the camera video quality is awesome
Good,good,good
Indeed it is... Can't wait to get my hands on mine.
If anyone is looking for a tower defense game with a twist I suggest checking out Lonely Turret for the Blackberry Playbook (I know the dev ). I've tried the game out on a simulator and became addicted quickly - looking forward to trying it out on the actual playbook myself. But definitely give it a look if you have a playbook and want a good game.
Intesting. I had only heard bad things about the device until now. I wonder if they'll backpedal on the whole "you need a BB phone" fiasco. It really makes no ****ing sense.

I don't think they'll quite go back on it; doing so would look bad for the company and show Co dimers a big feature they worked hard on just to To can in the end.

So, coming from Blackberry World and posting from my Playbook, RIM has definitively said the Bridge requirement will be gone by mid June. The standalone PIM apps were demo'd multiple times. And, of course, a Sprint LTE version is coming then as well.
No specific date on the Android player yet, although it was demo'd live as well. The Android apps that were shown were brought over without assistance from the original devs and no source required. It's just a repackage of the apk.
This hardware is fantastic and QNX is blazing fast.
Yeah I really like the look of this tablet. Also all of the things that are flaws with it atm, seem to be getting ironed out by RIM soon. The intuitive way RIM have even done the controls for the Android player are awesome. The only thing I'd say is they could have brought it out in a 7" and 10" model just for choice as if you're really looking for compact, you could pickup the 7" but if you're looking at buying it for the media aspect you could just buy the 10". But it's RIM's first tablet so I can see why they only brought out the one size... Now to start saving.
Oh yeah I'm also wondering how RIM are going to handle the updating of Android apps. It would be cool if there was a program made that would convert the apk's to what ever file type is needed for the QNX OS.
Oh and of course, what hacking (if any) is going to be like. All to look forward to.
Sorry for the delayed response
A 10" version is planned. Expect it before the end of the calendar year.
Also, the .bar file format on the Playbook is not much different from a .apk file. It is just a compressed file with some metadata. All the developer has to do is unzip and rezip their current release essentially. I am sure there is a tool in the SDK for developers to rezip their app.
I would imagine it won't be long before an after the fact tool is available to users so they can take an apk from their phone and turn it into a bar file.

Hey, just read the new features in ios5...they really are behind the times innit :-0.
Apparently coming in Autumn to most newer idevices is a pull down notification menu, ota updates, ota syncing, camera shortcut on lockscreen, top volume rocker can be used to snap pics, iphones own version of bbm just for iPhone devices.
I read it and thought wow, they really playing catch up with android, I used to have an iPhone but got bored really quick with their locked down rules and such.
I love my android phone and will be sticking with android for a good while yet but each to their own as is said.

What's perhaps the most frustrating is that Apple is suing Android phone producers left and right, down to the packaging being to similar on phones like the Nexus S.
Yet here, they even copied the 3 little bars! It's a flat out copy of what Android has been doing for years.. they mixed in some WebOS with the swipe to clear, but who knows they could of gotten that feature from CyanogenMod.
Notifications on the lock screen? TouchWiz and Sense 3.0 anybody? It's even more ironic because of the lawsuit with Samsung over "copying".
I mean... come on.
I honestly don't understand why iphones are so hyped up, I'm not the only person to say that they boring, but if u look at the sales sheets u will see that they still flying off the shelves, I know its Apple
But surely just a name can't make that many people go out and buy one?? Like I said I used to have an iPhone, and that probably happened cos I didn't know much about phones, but once I switched over to android and found out all the great stuff u can do with ur phone... Had a pal switched form a Desire to a iPhone 4, don't know why he did it.
(before I got myself the Captivate)
1. Brand name, idk (stylish, herd mentality, Job's distortion field)
2. Some want things to just work. They don't bother to tinker and what not.
That's about it IMO.
I see nothing in the iOS update that even a horse talking out its ass could call revolutionary. The Notifications are from Android, without the necessary clear all button, the camera button on a lock screen is still one more button away from a camera then winphone 7, my calander, gmail, and contacts are already all synced OTA to my thunderbolt, G-Tablet, Netbook, and desktop, and the "magical" messaging service will be just like facetime. Nobody I know has ever facetimed in this whole year. Dropbox is also fine for my documents, and no new hardware at all, so I get happier and happier with my thunderbolt with every day.

I was thinking the same things as well. They blatantly copied Android notifications yet they are quick to sue others over icons.
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G running CyanogenMod 7 using Tapatalk.
I've got an iPhone 4 and the reason I switched from Android to iOS was basically because iOS does everything I need it to do and it does it very smooth. The apps look ten times better on iOS IMO too. I'm still a huge Android fan but iOS just works the way I want my phone to work. Nice and simple.
The only thing I'm looking forward to is the iMessage or whatever. Everything else has no real effect on me. I do think the reminder thing is pretty cool though but I'll never use that.
No doubt iFanboys will argue that the notifications are better on iOS now when clearly Android is miles ahead. Seems like Apple are just following behind now. Sure most of the apple fanboys don't even care about that, after-all, it's Apple right?
One thing I was dissapointed in was no change to multi-tasking. Oh well, there's always jailbreaking.

I hate to break it to you, but Android is probably the most diverse smartphone OS you're gonna find. The iPhone is locked down tight, and WM7 doesn't seem nearly as much fun to play with (in my opinion). Have you rooted your Evo? If so, maybe you should try different types of ROMs? The Sense 3.0/2.1 ROMs are very nice, and Cyanogenmod is a slick (yet drastic) change from Sense ROMs.

Exactly. If android bores you than your not gonna last more than a day or two with WP7 or iOS. Also, the only hardware anywhere near as powerful as what you have is going to come on one of those 3 platforms.
