Bootloader change possible? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible yet to change the bootloader? I want that cool R2D2 one.
I know we use some QNG format something like that anyway but can we convert the images to this yet?

i was thinking about the same thing the other day actually.. but when it came to posting it i forgot what i was going to post.. hard times..
no, there isn't
why not? is it posible to make one?
Im sure they'd be a way of 'porting' grub to be able to do this?
There was a thread in Development and Hacking section regarding running OS from external storage (e.g. CF or SD), this is the closest to what you are looking for, AFAIK. It's still not working at this time though...
Grub was designed to run on PCs; boot process is completely different for mobile devices. No PC bootloaders are immediately portable.
A heavily patched SPL could probably make it possible to flash multiple OS images at once and choose which one to use at boot time, but this is by all means not a trivial thing and no such SPL is available up until now.
I'd say that multiboot capable SPL may appear for Blackstone once there's a fully working version of Android is available that many people would want to be able to run.

HTC Android Dev Phone update

Well i was going to grab the camera app from the dev build as i am on Jf 1.51
Well went to there site and i see
"Attention!
This update applies to the Android Dev Phone for developers only. The Android Dev Phone with its unique color and pattern can be seen here. This update will not work on the T-Mobile G1 or any other Android powered phone."
the files name is
signed-dream_devphone_userdebug-img-150275.zip
This isnt the file that was on there website befor it was
ADP1.5_signed-dream_devphone-ota-147201
.
So my questions are
1.) What is this new Dev img
2.) Will it really mess up my tmobile g1? I thought only different was firmware
Does the HTC ADP build contain the HTC Camera app? If that's what you want then flash a Cyanogen build, it has it built in.
Don't really know what that update will do to your phone, I wouldnt risk it for a feature already in another ROM.
yea the Cyanogen build does have it and alot of other stuff that i would like to delete from thats why im still on jf.
And i wasnt going to flash the htc dev jsut wanted to know because I flashed the old 1.5 version and now i see this one so i was wondering

What would you want to delete from Cyanogen? It's just like JF but with auto Apps2SD and some dinut stuff...
teeter , T-Mobile IM application, Amazon MP3, replace the launcher hate 5x6 icon spacing, and need to add some default audio change cpu back to stock for battery.
Is it possible to just delete and repack update i know for apk but what about adding audio plus i would hate to do that every time there was an update

Yeah, just resign the apk, or modify after flash.
Teeter and Amazon mp3 just need their apk's removed.
Battery life is hardly an issue, but you can use SetCPU (its free on these forums)
I think audio can remain on you sdcard, so it's unaffected by ROM flashes.
I think you can push back the launcher from JF to get the old spacing back.
ok on audio is there anyway to have it on the phone or can i push it to system/sd/media or something like that. I have an issue were if the phone is mounted my ring tones wont sound and thats because there on fat32 sd.
thanx for all the help

I've heard someone say will work on ext when I was skimming thorugh the Cyanogen ROM thread, so I don't know how accurate it is...

I need quick help

I have no clue where to post this all i know is mine is a Hero and this is a Hero thread correct? Well I'm trying to do a couple things here.. First of all i want to know how to get rid of things I flashed? Like say I flashed a theme. How do i un flash it? or what ever you call that? Also i was wondering how to combine multiple themes people made together to make it more of my own? If that is possible for someone who's has there phone rooted for 2 days lol. I'm using the newest version of DC. Thanks
The easiest way to remove a theme is to restore a nandroid backup from before you applied the theme. Otherwise, you can extract the ROM that you flashed to your phone, find out what files the theme you flashed modified, and then adb push the original files (from the extracted ROM) to your phone.
Was that all the info on how to get the theme off right?

Yes. Unfortunately, I can't help you on combining themes. All I DO know, is that you would need to put certain icons into certain folders.
Okay thank you Also i just thought of the other thing i needed to know. How do I keep my apps with out having to redownload them all when i want to try out a new ROM? Im guessing its possible considering everyone switches between ROMS alot.

Att OEM partition dump?

Does anybody here happen to have files from the OEM partition of an att nexus 6? I can't seem to find it anywhere. I know most people want to get rid of it but I'm curious as to where the boot sound comes from.

I have a zip of it. You can find it here: http://www.wuala.com/oakd/public/xda/oem.zip/
Thank you very much!

Can anyone link/explain to me in simple easy to follow way to edit boot/dtbo.imgs? Unpack, read and edit, and repack without errors?

I have been trying to learn on this and have overclocked the pixel 4xl screen to 120hz, although the touch screen/cameras dont work, it runs it.
I used the crb tool to unpack and edit the dts files with text editor and hex edits.
I have used another tool and it has dts source files (dts.src) on some of them? Editing these doesn't change nothing, but the other files are not readable in text format, and didn't know if it I'm doing it wrong.
Also a question I had was do the boot files need modified as well due to the drivers? I really like modding stuff and need a dumbed down tutorial or insight into this.

Unfortunately, I can't help you, though I have high hopes you get through your problems.
I am right now trying to force unlock the bootloader, for those that have a carried locked bootloader.
Anyway, let me know how it goes!

Thanks I appreciated it, and carrier locked? Some will unlock for you but if not, you might be able to use the Qualcomm tool qpst for that, I remember reading people were unlocking their phones that way. Tmobile I believe had an unlock tool and sometimes they will unlock it for you but it's a pain, good luck

Yeah QPST is a powerful tool, though I am still learning how to use it properly. Thanks for the tip anyway!
