Hi all ... I edited my dock and added the Gmail icon. It randomly disappears on me. It isn't consistent when this happens, eg. most re-boots it stays, sometimes its gone. Sometimes just looking at the phone part way thru the day and its gone. Any ideas?
Is there anyway to remove the swipe to unlock screen? I had a Vouge with Android ROMs and it was two presses of the power-on button to unlock. Much more convenient. Thanks in advance for any help on these!
It seems that if you change a dock icon to a 3rd party app, it won't stay. Anything installed originally in the phone will not disappear.

Is there a known simple method to alter the useless lock screen on the captivate.it's not exactly pocket proof. Also I saw a lock screen somewhere that had several sliders that could launch the phone, mms, ect....
if I could skip the home screen when making a call/text that'd be awesome.

Checkout WidgetLocker, works great.
or if you would like a free alternative but not as yet polished as it is new try Simply Lockscreen
the one your looking for that goes to phone, sms, email, and home is called GOTO... i had it on for a little bit... but ultimately kept the original lock screen
There's a widget named No Lock that lets you bypass the lock screen altogether. It's on the market and it works fine on my stock Captivate.
One tiny issue is that you have to hold the on/off button a little longer than normal to wake up the phone.
Thanks guys. Widget locker it is for me!

this thing is the bomb! never looked back on my stock lockscreen
+1 for No Lock. Great as the Captivate has only capacitive buttons and volume buttons dont seem to activate the screen!
The problem I'm having with most of these alternate lock screens is that quite often the Samsung one still comes up and then I have to unlock twice. If that doesn't happen then sometimes two of the new lockscreen will come up.
I've tried changing around settings but every one I try has these similar issues. Is there no way to just disable the TouchWiz lockscreen?
Hello all,
Was wondering if anyone is having the same issue as I am. My lock screen doesn't seem to actually lock the phone.. i.e. if you press an app without sliding it up, it just opens. The lock icon, however, is still displayed. My lock screen style is set to productivity, and that still all works, and I have no security set up. It's worth noting that it was working with no issues up until a day ago, and nothing has changed :/
For further clarification:
By not working, I mean that before I used to have to slide the tab up, or to launch an app I would have to drag it up, but now that doesn't work.
Here's a video showing what I mean:

This just started happening to my AT&T HTC One tonight! I found this post by doing a search to see if anyone else had experienced this same issue on their One.
Also I can no longer drag the icons at the bottom of my lockscreen up to get into that particular app. And pressing anywhere on the lockscreen seems to unlock the phone and take me to the desktop.
I'm using the "music lockscreen" style, fyi.

I just figured out what was causing it on mine... I actually received my Pebble smartwatch in the mail today and had installed the Pebble Android app onto my One. This also required going into the Settings on my One and enabling Accessibility for the Pebble and Pebble Notifier and these 2 accessibility settings were what was causing the lockscreen to behave this way.
Don't see anyway to get around it so far...

Wow aha actually I did install the pebble app just before it started happening.. I wonder if it's a problem on pebble's side or htc... good catch though!
Yeah, not sure of that either. I just wondered and posted about this myself in another XDA thread I found on this very same topic:

I have got this on my HTC one, I have come from an iphone and wanted to have the screen turn on when any emails are received. These show up on the lockscreen so when I'm driving if I get an email the screen turns on.
I can use several apps to do this but they all require to be enabled in Accessibility, if I do that the lockscreen unlocks when its touched anywhere as mentioned earlier without swiping. If I disable the accessibility setting its all back to normal but the app doesnt work....ie. the screen doesn't come on.
Any one figured this out yet?

I found a work around for it. It requires root access, Tasker and Secure Settings.
What I did was create a Context that is activated when the display is on and then using Secure Settings, disable all Accessibility for all events. As an exit task, I re-enable all my accessibility apps.
Now when i turn on my display, I actually have to slide to unlock.

Sound interesting, :good:

Under the profiles tab
Press the + icon in the botton right corner
Select State
Select Display
Select Display State
Change "Is Off" to "Is On"
Press the back button
You should have a popup of available Tasks (if you have any)
Select New Task +
[Optional] Give it a name
You need to do the following section as many times as you have Acessibility services
***********************************************
Press the + icon in the lower middle screen
Select Plugin
Select Secure Settings
Press the Edit button
Select Accessibility Services
Select a service, and make sure is disabled (by default it will be)
Press the save icon in the lower left
Press back
************************************************************
Repeat the previous section as needed
When you are done creating your task, press the back button
You should be back at your main profile screen.
Long press the green arrow of the task you just created
Select Add Exit Task
Repeat the *********** section but save the accessiblity services as "Is Off" for all your services.
Tasker has a bit of a learning curve, and hopefully this will get you started.

Thanks for the write up its really appreciated. I'll give it a go.....

Efox29. That works very well.. Thanks again for the advice.
I've got this set up as well but for me it is extremely hit and miss. Nearly 50% of the time I still get the single touch unlock and the other half of the time tasker works perfectly. The only thing I can think of is that my pin unlock causes a problem but why only half the time.
Anyone else have this problem?
I suppose I should be happy my problem has been cut in half but I wish it was completely consistent.

It's not ideal but works ok, for me it's better than nothing.
M.
Actually having used this tasker solution for a few days now it works about 75% of the time and seems more reliable if the screen has been off for a while vs reactivating the screen very soon after turning off. Still sometimes I get the one touch unlock after the screen being locked for hours. On the whole the accessibility problem still really annoys me but I agree this solution is better than nothing and so far I haven't had any more accidental call answers.

has anyone noticed that another issue with this accessibility bug is that the screen will flicker or flash black for a split second after unlocking? again, this only happens after you turn on accessibility for an app.
In advance I want to say thank you for taking the time to read this. I've searched all over the internet and cannot find anything about this anywhere.
Tonight my HTC One randomly restarted and when it came back up, all my sense settings were restored to default, minus features. I.e. my quick settings menu was restored to default quick settings links and the order changed. The font size throughout the phone was restored to medium. The time changed back to 12 hour mode from 24 hour mode. My ringtone/notification/alarm tons were restored to default. But most frustratingly, the lock screen is messed up. I can only swipe up to unlock, instead of swiping left and right to get to blinkfeed, etc. And all of my shortcuts are inaccessible from the lock screen--as in, my messages, phone, email, etc--I can no longer swipe up on the icons (because they are not there) to immediately open those apps. I have to swipe up to unlock then tap the icon. Also, I no longer have message or missed call previews on the lock screen. It shows the time and weather but nothing else, even when I have notifications. Note that none of my other settings were restored to default--my shortcuts on the different panels are the same, my background the same, no apps were lost, etc.
Please, please help me.
Edit: my power saver mode icon is no longer available in the drop-down menu when it's enabled (i.e. there's the notification for it with the check box on the right that allows me to turn it off and that notification is no longer there).

Stock. Does no one have any info on this error?
Did you try factory reset? If you didn't, try it, but backup your phone first
Hi friends. Just got this wonderful device and decided to unlock it.
After unlocking I'm not sure if it's me but there seems to be a delay in touching an icon and it activating. For example, I press the app drawer icon from Nova Launcher and it takes about a 0.5 second delay before it actually triggers and opens. Am I simply noticing a delay which was always there? The delay is also present when inputting the pin in the lock screen.
Also I am now unable to activate the mini screen feature that normally activates when I swipe to the soft nav buttons.
So two problems I've noticed since unlocking the bootloader. Will greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!
Update: OK the delay somehow disappeared. Response is pretty snappy right now. All I did was uninstall and install new apps
Update2: OK what; even the mini screen swiping on nav bar gesture works again. Not sure what happened but all issues have been resolved
Hi,
I acquired a brand new Samsung Galaxy S20FE last week and updated it to Android 12 with OneUI 4.1, unfortunately I can't seem to remove this thing appearing on top of the navigation bar.
I tried to change the navigation bar to swipe gestures and it stays more or less in the same place. I also tried to disable the side menu and to change the launcher to Nova and pretty much explored all the settings without success, which let me believe that it is a glitch.
Could somebody tell me how I may be able to remove this please?
Thanks a lot!
maybe it's indicator for which homescreen you're on ??
if it is you can turn that off.

Unfortunately it is not, there is another indicator for the homescreen page that shows up on top of the dock icons. It tried to put only one page on the homescreen as I figured it would be an indicator and it was still there.
When I reboot the phone, this little thing does not appear right away, it comes up after a couple minutes using the phone, if it helps finding the source of the problem.
Factory reset?

it looks like it a cut off transparent toast message but those shouldn't hang around. when you switch to gesture navigation is it the same amount of it that you see ?
it kinda looks like the navigation bar is on top of it obscuring most of it.
that's Samsung Pay, you can disable it from the Samsung Pay's Quick access settings

Yes, at long last, the mystery has been solved! Thanks a lot, I had to update and configure Samsung Pay, it was a non-functioning feature of the application.
