Hi all,
I am currently unable to use internet via EDGA / 3G, and at the moment i can only use WiFi at home or anywhere with open wifi.
Im living in UK using O2 network pay as you go sim
well I found the O2 APN settings (as below):
Name: O2 WAP POST PAY
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Proxy: 193.113.200.195
port: 8080
Username: o2wap
Password: password
server: not set
mmsc: http :// mmsc . mms . o2 . co . uk : 8002 (i have to put space in between because To prevent spam to the forums, new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed.)
mms proxy: 193.113.200.195
mms port: 8080
mcc: 234
mnc: 10
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: internet + mms
after I put all the settings in then turn the phone off and back on (as O2 said on their website) there are nothing changes, no EDGE / 3G (red and green blinking) icon appears on the notification bar
so are there any expert can help me solve this problem ?
p.s. I never root or flash my phone, all firmware are OEM version (Android 2.1 I90000ZSJG4)
THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND YOUR HELP
to start with the APN doesn't seem right
wap.o2.co.uk
it should be something like
internet.o2.co.uk (or whatever happens to be the readl thing)
wap.o2.co.uk suggest you are restricted only to WAP services, which does not include internet

but thats what i seen from o2 uk website itself and other people told me
however, when i change the wap to internet as what you said, it still doesn't work at all, there is no EDGE / 3G (red and green blinking) icon appears on the notification bar

how do we get MMS without the t-mobile g1 data plan?
I dont think its possible. I guess you can get Chomp SMS and pay for it there which could be cheaper but i dont know if it supports MMS...
i cant really help you . but i can say that its worth the 20 or 30 bucks for the internet plan
Agreed with G-Fetus. Plus you can always tell people to e-mail it to your gmail and you can download the attachment from there.
ok this worked for me...
Goto
Menu -> Settings -> Wireless Controls -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names -> T-Mobile US
Make sure you go into T-mobile US and not any other settings.
Change the settings to the following:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: wap.voicestream.com
proxy: 216.155.165.050
port: 8080
Username: not set (delete everything in this field)
Password: not set (delete all here too)
Server: not set (delete the *)
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS Port: 8080
MMC: 310
MNC: 260
APN type: not set
Restart your phone. Now your MMS should work.
*Troubleshooting*
1. If you’re having trouble still, go into mobile networks and enable ‘data roaming’ and ‘use only 2G’
- I've tried this and it seems to be working for me.. this is the only solution i know..

does this still work? i heard t-mobile blocked G1s from using this
it still works on mine..
I tried that on my phone because I am having the same problem. Doesn't work for me. Although I didn't edit the T-Mobile US APN, I made a new one, if that somehow matters.
If anyone has figured out anything on how to get mms messages to work without a data plan please let me know. Everything else on my phone works perfectly.
I figured my new friend [girl] had sent the picture to my gmail instead of text. I'd like this to.
Hi I'm internationally roaming in the states right now on the AT&T network with my N1 2.2 with a Thai (AIS) SIM card in it.
Voice service works but that's all. No Net, no SMS(can not send or receive)
I've searched the web and these forums for the APN settings
I've found:
Name: whatever_you_want_the_name_to_be {AT&T}
APN: wap.cingular
Username: wap (at) cingulargprs.com
Password: cingular1
MMSC: http: (slash slash) mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
I can go to settings and add a new APN and when I put in all the details it will save it up to MCC and MNC.
If I enter the above numbers into either the MCC or MNC field and hit save or hit the back button the Complete APN and all the settings I just entered disappear from my APN list?
HELP!
Why is it disappearing?
Why can i not send SMS?
At least I would like to be able to send and receive SMS if I can't get data roaming to work.
The password must be in all caps. CINGULAR1 that will fix you up.
I have an unlocked Captivate that I took with with me from the states and I signed on to the Rogers network up here in Canada. I can recieve voice and text on the phone but cannot receive data even with the data plan, I'm sure it must be a quick fix but Rogers was no help (not that I thought they would be) as well I'm not sure where on the phone to go to enter in an IP address other than the Wi-fi settings where it says set up wifi and manage waps? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You probably need to add the Rogers APN
Here it is:
Rogers
For Internet
Name: Rogers
APN: internet.com
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
Leave all other settings Blank.

For MMS
Name: Rogers MMS
APN: media.com
Username: media
Password: mda01
Server: 172.25.0.107
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
APN Type: mms

Honestly dont know where it is on the captivate since I dont own it or any other android phone but it should be something under network or something like that.
Edit: Found it here
Settings>Wireless and Network>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names - Menu > New APN
Edit part deux:
If the APN for internet I posted doesn't work try the ones ranova posted on the link above.
APN: internet.com
Primary gateway IP: 172.25.0.107
Username: wapuser1
Password: wap
Click to collapse
or
APN: internet.com
Username: guest
Password: guest
MMS Settings:
MMSC: mms.gprs.rogers.com
APN: media.com
Username: media
Password: mda01
Click to collapse
but I'm not sure where to enter the primary gateway ip, would that be under server? Sorry noob question probably.
No clue, maybe? Just try filling the APN info with what I posted and reboot the phone and try it, it should work with one of those APN settings, whatever is not listed just leave it blank.
I dont own a captivate so cant really check what goes where
has anyone tried these info? I tried the mms and it doesn't help me dowload the mms.
Hi I tried to look for my issue on the forum, but seem to have problem with my MMS, receiving or sending. I set up my APN, so I am able to get internet and data, but I left the MMS section alone. So I tried another APN setting with cingular info, but still unable to send or receive MMS. Any help would be great thanks.
APN
Create a New APN
Name: What You Like (I choose ATT HSPA+)
APN: PHONE
APN Type: INTERNET
MMS
Create a New APN
Name: Whatever You Like (I choose ATT MMS)
APN: PHONE
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
APN Type: MMS
Doesn't this mean I have to manually change my network setting to send out MMS?
Update: Okay tried what you said, so it automatically select the AT&T Phone. But still doesn't seem to work.
Thank Sebring5, finally figure it out after doing a little more research.
I guess APN is like you said and that should allow for all internet and data, which I already had. But for MMS portion, I needed to add APN: wap.cingular and finally started to get my messages. Thanks.
Yeah...these are my settings also. Gotta make sure you have an imei the system recognizes as hspa+ for these to work.
Btw... I don't have port 80 set, and I think it's faster that way.

Hey all,
I picked up an HTC One on SaskTel last week. I noticed that when I work out of town (in range of only one or two cell towers) my reception just sucked. I was seeing some bizzare behaviour where Exchange, Gmail, Play Store and most Google services would refuse to sync - there would be timeouts and "sync is experiencing problems" errors. Other apps like Google Chrome and reddit is fun worked perfectly. Very frustrating.
I started Googling and playing with APN settings. I think I've found a combination that works, although I couldn't tell you why... but now I don't get any problems at all.
Anyway, if you're having problems on SaskTel with any Android smartphone, maybe give these settings a try.
Code:
APN - proxy.stm.sk.ca
Proxy - mig.sasktel.com
Port - 8080
Username - (not set)
Password - (not set)
Server - (not set)
MMSC - http://mms.sasktel.com
MMS proxy - mig.sasktel.com
MMS port - 8080
MMS protocol - WAP 2.0
MMC - 302
MNC - 780
Authentication Type - "PAP or CHAP"
APN Type - * (enter the "*" character in the field)
APM protocol - IPv4
Network mode - GSM / WCDMA / LTE Auto
I'm hoping someone stumbles across this with a search and finds it useful!
Thanks very much for this bit of info.. I've been having the same problem as you and the info provided on sasktels' Facebook page didn't provide me with a resolution.. This is what they had suggested for settings:
"There is a confirmed issue with some HTC devices and the Google Play Store.
This issue can be resolved by creating an APN with the Proxy setting remaining blank.
APN Settings can be found: Settings > Mobile Network > Access Point Names > Menu (top right) > New APN.
Name: Internet2
APN: pda.stm.sk.ca
Proxy: <>
Port: 80
Username: << not set >>
Password: << not set >>
Server: << not set >>
MMSC: mms.sasktel.com
MMS Proxy: mig.sasktel.com
MMS Port: 80
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0 (DO NOT EDIT)
MCC: 302 (DO NOT EDIT)
MNC: 780 (DO NOT EDIT)
Authentication type: not set
APN Type: .
APN enable/disable: checked

these did not work but yours did.. again a big thanks!

I'm really glad this helped you out! To be honest I was not sure if my APN settings fixed my problem, or if it was the unlocking/rooting stuff I was doing. Good to get the confirmation this works.
Holy. I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I was ripping my hair out over this. I found inet.stm.sk.ca to work better than pda. Haven't tried proxy.
Though this issue appears to be fixed on sasktel's end now.
