Play movie files

Is there a good movie player out there that can play both .avi and .mp4 files? I cant watch my podcasting because it says that the file type is invalid

Play video files with srt subtitles

Hello,
I have a lot of video files that have separate srt subtitle files. Is there an app that plays these files?
If not do you know/use a windows app that burns the subtilte into the video file?

Try meridian player. It shows the subtitles when the srt is in the same folder and has the same filename.

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunatly the subtitles aren't displayed with the movie. I have the 2 files in the same directory and with the same name :
dmd-eastern.M4V - dmd-eastern.srt.
If I play the movie with for example VLC then the subtitles are displayed in the movie. The playback quality is ok, but the app always crashes when I quit a movie.
I am now looking for a tool that burns the subs into the movie. Any suggestions?

Anyone got allshare to work seriously?

I have 2 media server, Dlink DNS-323 and TP-Link WR1043-ND and both of them could stream to my Windows 7 PC. But when i use allshare, all i see are files and folders but when i try to play any files it just say "this video cannot be played back". This are all normal avi files.

An AVI file can contain video encoded in a number of different codecs. If they're DivX / Xvid files they should definitely play. Check the codec using a tool like GSpot.

There're all xvid, they play fine in stock player but no allshare.
