[Q] Won't boot. Possibly bricked? - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Trying to help a friend out with her G1 issues. The phone turns on but when it gets to ANDROID boot screen, the red light flashes and it cuts off . The phone is fully-charged. This phone is stock, no root, she has no idea how to do any of that. The last thing she did was a simple data wipe. I was hoping that there is some kind of RSDLite/SBF-like utility for the G1 that restores it from a bricked state.
Any help is appreciated.
Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move it if desired.

Can you get into bootloader (camera+power) or recovery (home+power)?

Yeah I can do both.

Phone Frozen on ROM Splashscreen! :(

I've been using Black Diamond 3.0 ROM version since 9/25-ish....and just now I turned off my phone and its not going past the splash screen of the rom! what do i do? i keep taking off the battery etc...All i want to do is bypass, get contacts out and reflash something else now please help! me without a working cell phone!
i'd say youre screwed for data, just hard reset or reflash. go into bootloader mode and flash that way, its better than having a dead phone.

HTC diamond (BELL) bad flash, just keeps restarting

Hey, huge NOOb here, and first time using this!
I was trying to flash my ROM for the first time, and of course I ran into some problems :S
Anyway, the phone just keeps restarting, never reaching the loading screen. I can however still access the bootloader screen when I hold down the volume down button and back button, and when I try to reload the stock ROM that I got from http://uploaded.to/?id=ma0u71, it only reaches 89% before the RUU program enters the recovery mode. Once I attempt to recover the device and run the RUU again it makes it to 89% and stops once again..
Any ideas/guides as to how I can fix this problem? Thanks in advance, this has become a huge problem, and any help on the subject is much appreciated.
ummm did you unlock your phone successfully? if so then make sure you have the correct rom for your device. also try to hard reset first and if you can get into your phone make sure you format your memory
Yeah I figured out the problem, I just had to acquire the stock ROM from Bell and then reflash it with that one. Thanks for the reply tho, I really appreciate it!

[Q] [SOLVED] Boot looped, Can't use Recovery mode..

Hi everyone.. after hours and hours of reading and studying on this website I really got myself into a mess and I just can't seem to climb out of it.. I desperately need some grade A help..
To be descriptive, I was trying to flash Serendipity 7, I was following the steps, used odin 3 1.7, I put all the files where they needed be, and followed it down to a tee, I pressed start, and then my phone goes into a boot loop... So I google around to look for solutions, and I thought I found one, well after I flash this "P-SBL.tar.md5" some tar file that is meant to fix the 3 button recovery mode issue. (Basically my cappy can't select anything in recovery mode due to it not having a "ok" button..) So I try it.. and not my recovery mode is littered with multi colored lines.. and I can't seem to get them to go away.
If anyone can help me I would forever be in your debt.. I would be happy just to go back to stock 2.2 if possible.. or perhaps advice on getting serendipity 7 to work.
I could make it happen if only I could get my recovery mode to work. D:
Please anyone help, I'm in dire need..
Thanks!
Search for "stock kb2 adam outler"
Then after you get back to stock, stay that way until you have done about 12 more hrs of research and reading. You were lucky that you didn't hard brick your phone, and you don't realize it. Don't just flash something because you"think"it will fix it. Know what you are flashing and what it will do to your phone. And you can call me an a#&h&$#if you want, but i believe most of the regular users here would agree me.

Totally agree !!
suoh18, If....wow....whoa....dude don't be so trigger happy to flash. You were this " | " <---(that is a thin thin line by the way) to having a brick.
They need to get rid of that 3 button fix, its bricked more phones than I know, it should include both bootloaders and not just the one, I would contact Adam Outler like mrhaley said, to see if he can help, 3 button fix brick may require a jtag.
I know I was.. I was just reading what everyone was saying how easy it was.. it was my first flash and I guess it just back fired on me.. x_x
I really appreciate your help a ton, you have no clue how thankful I am.
I'm downloading what I need right now and I'm praying it works, thank you again so much.

Keep us posted on the end result.
I just used the program.. and it very well got my phone back on the right track. The boot looping stopped, it's back on the recovery mode that I can actually use, but after it loads it just goes to a black screen and keeps vibrating, I read that if it doesn't work the first time to check the flash bootloaders button. so I'm going to reboot one more time, then try that.
Thanks a ton guys, you really are great.
EDIT:
Which I think I need to do, because I still have a weird Galaxy S starting screen that appeared after I tried to flash serendipity.
EDIT 2:
Okay, After re-flashing the bootloaders it removed that screen that shouldn't have loaded, but I still get a black screen after the boot and nothing shows up..
I can enter and exit my recovery and download modes fine..
EDIT3:
Okay.. I went back into recovery mode and literally just wiped everything I could.. cache, user data, internal card, and after I rebooted again, viola it worked.
I'm so happy and I am seriously very appreciative. You guys are great and there has always been a reason why I respect this community so much.
Thanks again everyone that helped me, I don't know how much I can say it, but really, thank you so so so much, you are amazing.

[Q] completely lost

A friend of mine tried to root his white tmobile g1 and im not sure what he did to it. heres what im working with.
press power button goes to g1 screen and then to the factory android recovery (e2)
can wipe, factory reset and can select install update.zip
the phone wont take any update i throw at it and ive tried like 7-8 i have found here on xda. I have no idea what phone was on previously.
I CANNOT access the bootloader no matter what i do. i even went as far as to dissasemble the phone and replace the buttons (thought home might be sticking), anyone have any ideas on how i can possibly ressurect this?
without bootloader access i cant flash to downgrade. Im at a loss here and really hate getting outsmarted by a phone. I dont think its a brick... yet being i can hit stock recovery and that blue led test works.
If bootloader is truly gone, not just hidden from you, the phone can not boot. I know of no flash able update.zip for a bootloader in the stock recovery which unfortunately means this is a brick. The blue light mode is only helpful for JTAG, sorry
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I finally managed to get the phone to boot by swapping the cables out of another phone. Weird issue but nice having a half dozen phones laying around for parts

[Q] HTC One m7_ul doesn't start

Good morning XDA participants.
I have a very big problem and I think that I converted my phone is just a paperweight.
After a lot of tries of change s-on to s-off, I was not able to do it. For some reason, I think that was a little tired and boring, I did something and now my phone doesn't load OS. Just turn on and stay on the HTC screen logo, I can enter to recovery but after try factory reset the problem continues.
Could be possible recover the phone? Or I have to forget that Will work again...it's just have 3 weeks

Click to collapse
as long as your bootloader is unlocked and you have TWRP recovery, you can push, sideload or USB-OTG a ROM onto your phone

if you have further questions, post back here
