Hi all,
Finally got my hands on a GS but want to optimize it as best i can as far as battery life, memory management etc.
I was told there is an app i can use that will manage everything in the background and improves performance and battery life. If this is true, what is it called?
And to prove how much of a noob I am, how can I stop the vibrating when entering in text or hitting the back/menu buttons? I don't need to know if i'm hitting the keyboard. I'll see it
Thanks all,
FK SGS

Can somebody test it on s730? Share your exprerience! Seems to me that it could bring more free RAM, more battery life, speedy reaction
Many new features, f.e.:
* smartphones support
* new black skin
* battery saving
* bluetooth switching on/off during call (also battery saving)
* speed increasing
http://pointui.com
Works well..sometimes a little bit slowly.
I'd locked my S730 by this tool.
Can anyone tell me how to unlock this?
New Features:
Lock screen can now be used on smartphones - you press up then down on dpad.
Yea, I have been using this SW for some hours and i love it!
Has some minor bugs. I cannot keylock the unit as ususal.
Then the home program shuts down. So I have to use the keylock that is built inn to this SW..
But now that I am used to this, it is actually better that the standard.
It also bugs up some times when using Comm Manager, I have not yet figured out when exactly this problem accures,
but Home then sometimes shuts down, and I have to restart the program..
But other than that its perfect. Fast, smooth fading menues, and looks great!

Thanks for your opinion, this SW little bit change the behavior of the HW, but according the programmer´s goal. The previous member contribution is typical, people does not like to read the manuals, sometimes problem is not problem it is a purpose how to use the HW effectively and users are lazy to read the changelogs .

I know what you mean
A little "Tip" if anyone wants to try this program on the S730.
I had to change the HTC Home settings "Time Out" to Never. Or else the it would go back to the original HTC Home after
10 minutes. (Depending on the settings)
Looks nice but too limited for my liking just yet.
Like, I want to be able to see the time AND appointments on the home screen, without having to scroll.
It should have more user-definable input, without having to get out a registry editor. It also needs some work to make it suitable for smartphones, like being able to add stuff to the icon bar on the home screen. Also, the application bar only shows icons in the Start Menu/Programs folder by default. I couldn't see any options to change it, or even a button to move back up the directory tree to where my icons actually are.
A working uninstall procedure would be good too!!
I agree with the mad ferret.
the customization is missing. for example where is the option to create a "favorite apps list"?
i really like its fast responsiveness!!! i wish windows mobile could develop something like that as native windows mobile software. so smooth and with such neat design. why cant they? are they ****ing retarded? instead we get slow menues and ugly lists like on phones of 1998. cant windows work with people wh o can create such amazing software and integrate it natively? cant they develop something like this themselfes? WTF
anyway, pointui is a very amazing piece of software. however, whenever i press "running programs" it freezes.... the update function doesnt work.
i prefer smarttoolkit!!

Everything that's supposed to work with PointUI, works for me on my HTC S710/Vox. I do hope for more features and I am sure the developers are hard at work, but what it is now - it can only get better since it's amazing. I hope for it to run at system level, apart from that it's superb so far!
I've been using it for about a week now. I love the clean look, but I'm having one major issue. My number keys and my green key do nothing so I can't call any number that is not in my contacts without going back to the WM Home screen.
Anyone else have this problem? Or better yet, know how I can fix it?
But, yeah other than that I really like pointui. Hopefully the next release comes soon.
Hi all.
Of late I deceided to try out some QVGA Java games on my Kaiser and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at the sheer quality and volume of the midlets available.
Now my Kaiser can run most of them without issue using the D-pad in portrait mode (Landscape is not an option as the Games are 240x320!), but I have come across many games that really do need the use of more of the phone pad buttons i.e. we have buttons 2,4,6 and 8 for directional movement (in most games) with number 5, being the Action key..great! But in many of the more advanced games, one really needs access to some of the numbers (0,1,3,7 & 9)and or characters (* & #).

In short, after reading Menneisyys's incredibly detailed and informative 'Button Enhancer Bible & great button config tips for Opera Mobile / Mini users', I am still no closer to understanding how to map and hardware buttons to application specific PQzII vitual buttons.
I really need some help here if there are any gurus here in this department.
I must stress the importance of this for me. I love the polished look and feel of Java games over the purpose built Pocket PC games and also love how virtually most apps are less than 1/2 a megabyte!!
Space saver or what? Besides my 2 children both have the HTC Wizard and are desperately wanting Dad to get this sorted...so please help an old fella out or take pity on my kids who are currently Javaless. lol.
No seriously any help is truly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
bump......
I'm not aware of any guides - the one coming with PQzII is pretty bad. Moreover, the GUI isn't really intuitive, unless you already know some other button enhancer tool. However, if you just play with PQzII, you'll surely learn it. It took me too some half an hour to learn its GUI.
Let me know if you don't succeed at it and I post a more detailed review as soon as I have some free time. (Dunno when - I'm very-very busy.)

Oh well...not to worry. I'll keep at it. Thank you very much for replying though, it's appreciated.
For anyone else interested, Vito Button Mapper is supposed to be the best application for application specific button mapping...so I'm trying the trial version of that too. If anyone knows how to get this going foe Opera mini too, that would be great. Cheers.
I've had a Wing for about a year now (t-mobile). During this time I never really read much about modding the phone and such. However, it is a bit plain and very slow if anything is open.
I've been reading a lot and recently changed the pagepool size and am now working on using PocketMechanic to move stuff to the flash card. I do however have a couple questions:
Should I flash my wing or just optimize how it is now? What is a good home screen I can download that doesn't kill my battery life? What will I be losing if I flash? Do all the ROMs kill my battery life? How can I choose the right ROM for me? I can't decide after reading over a lot of them.
I know someone is going to say use the search. I have and have been reading for hours lastnight. If someone can just help a bit I'd be much appreciated.
i would definatly flash your rom, i would use one of the open touch roms they all have good battery life. flashing your wing is like optimizing without having to take the time to find the programs and do the registry tweaks. a good homescreen i think is spb mobile shell, just make sure you disable smart gestures, i usuall can go around 2.5 days without charging.
Downside?
Are there any downsides to doing this?
Cant think of any downsides, its all for a good cause, oh one downside, you might lose your applications you've downloaded if any. Other than that its WAY better that the original T-Mo ROM
You've been wasting your time using the original stock rom. Flash a new rom (I reccommend ITJE or ASERGs) and you're going to see a 2 fold improvement on your phone immediately.
the one downside is that if you dont follow the directions you could brick your phone
So I tried a number of ROMs today:
-Papa
-Multiple versions of the Open Touch ROMs
Here is my conclusion and thoughts. Perhaps you guys can guide me a bit to a final solution.
They all look beautiful without a doubt. I didn't have any initial problems loading or using any of them except the lock program wasn't locking the volume control. However, just do perform quick tasks like I normally do to lock the phone or go to the comm manager felt like a chore to do. They looked nice, but I had to go through a lot to do anything. The Open Touch ROMs with Throttle Launcher were annoying when viewing mail because you could only quickly see 1 at a time with the large mail that pops up when you click the icon.
I really like the look of the SPG Shell Theme they have right on their homepage, but it's not free. Any of you guys have advice? I use this for work a lot so the mail / calendar / tasks view are really beneficial for me to be viewable at all times like the default theme. This is why I was saying SPG looked nice with whatever theme it is they have on their site.
I will try an Aserg on my phone tomorrow as it looks similar to the default.
Anyways, thanks in advanced for all of the help so far. I really appreciate it.
You'll be very satisfied with Aserg's rom. I look foward to hearing what you think.
Keep in mind, any rom you flash, you'll have to set up a couple of things ... such as the device lock today plugin .. settings, etc ... don't expect a rom to fulfill ALL of your needs from the moment its flashed. When you get into a new car, you still have to adjust the seat, mirrors, steering wheel ..etc.. You can't decide to scrap one car because the mirrors weren't in the position you wanted them to be.
Guys, I'm very much a newbie to all this and have a few questions which I was hoping for definitive answers to (I've searched the threads and there seems to be some ambiguity)
1) Can the call history and calendar options under the clock be removed/changed? If so how? (some people say "no" but one talks about changing some kind of setting!!)
2)Has anyone got a way to put the black HTC theme onto the O2 branded ignito without loosing some of the text (black text on black background on some tabs)....WITHOUT FLASHING....(I think the answer to this is "no" at the moment but if someone could remedy it I would be grateful. I did try it using info on the forums, but aswell as being unable to see some text, it also seemed to slow the phone response time down to a ridiculously slow level.
3)An idea which I think all newbies would appreciate is a really simple guide as to what are the ESSENTIAL tweaks (if any) everyone should make to their phone. I don't mean an endless list, but simply which ones will increase performance, save battery power etc.
Other than the above points, I have to say that I am 100% happy with my new phone. I've never had a WM type phone before and I cannot understand how I managed without one before. I am making plans to learn the basics of how it all works, then maybe have a go at writing some apps etc (If anyone knows of an 'idiots guide' to the whole WM XDA thing please let me know.
Just for your info in case it helps:
ROM 1.93.206.3
Radio 1.00.25.05
Free phone, 600mins, 1000texts, unlimited browsing:- £20p/m
Thanks in anticipation of useful replies,
Matt
Hi Matt.
I'm a fairly novice newbie too - had a T-Mobile compavt IV with the white/pink T-Mobile branding which I did not like at all - and decided to Flash after exhaustive forum research etc .... and managed it with a huge sigh of relief.
Anyway, still would be apprehensive about flashing if I had to do it again
But have been playing around with a few visual tweaks - so here's my 2p's worth - hope it helps.
1) No idea on this one - sorry
2) Found a theme that should allow you to use a cool (in my opinion of course) Black theme - http://sharebee.com/9071012f details with in this forum link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419799&highlight=black+diamond+theme&page=5
first you need an app called Diamond TF3D Config - cab file attached
Then download the Black Diamond Theme file. Run Diamond TF3D Config, click on "Appearence" tab, and under select theme, click on path and double click the folder where you downloaded the Black Diamond Theme file then click on "ok". Now in the box under "Select Theme", click on the down arrow button on the right and select Black Diamond Theme. Then click on save at the bottom of the page. This asks that you reboot, do so and you should have a classy looking Black Diamond Theme
3) Diamond TF3D Config also has some good tweaks that should increase performance - but unfortunately battery life will always be a huge drawback with the Diamond ... my solution was to get a second battery and a desktop charger that charges the phone and the spare battery at the same time - and I carry a charged spare whenever I go out - search e-bay for the battery and charger.
Hope this helps ... good luck
Vijay

Hey everyone, I found a very cool CAB, it makes your phone
vibrate on touch like in LG phones.
After install I set "Vibration Duration" on 30 ms in TouchResponse Settings.
It's for me just perfect but you can change it like you feel it better for you
Have fun with it!
If there is a newer version I will update my post
http://rapidshare.com/files/167731588/TouchResponse_v02.CAB
just link it to this topic please give the man his credits and the people who install this maybe want to know who made this and maybe ask questions

Ups sorry I didn't see this thread
Someone please close this thread
you don't have to close it i think maybe some users here dont go there often! so it's pretty handy to have this topic here that shows the TP users that there are programs like this
Very Cool THANKS!
installed yesterday, saw on its original topic
very very good
any way to make it work just when the soft keyboard is up?
thanks!
delete please!
i already have a cab for when the dialer is up so i have to figure someone can make it work just with keyboard
Does anyone know how this affects battery life? I would imagine that running the vibration motor every time you touch the screen would tend to decrease the battery life a good amount

Cool app, thanks for the creator and yaqxsw for posting here!

spb keyboard has an option to make it vibrate when you press the keys. Plus, its ALOT more accurate than the default keyboard. You also have the option of the vibration occurring before the key press or after
Try it out!

Nice App!
Using it on my Touch HD and it works wel.
Is there any way (or are there any plans) to invoke vibration on only selected applications (eg. phone dialer) or only when the on-screen keyboard is being used? I know there is a similar application that vibrates exclusively w/ the phone dialer.
