I downloaded the OTA and rooted, but cant seem to download the files i need to Deoxed my phone. has anyone already done it? It would be much appreciated.
I tried the manual instructions to Deodex but it didnt work for me
The day the OTA came out birdman tweeted that he is working on it, just give him a little time
BTW, where the hell can I follow Birdmans blog?
I installed TBH 2.3.15(deodexed) over top of the 2.2 OTA. Everything has been fine for me.

if you download the one that is in rom manager it is already deodexed and it is ota rooted. it works pretty good for me so far except it keeps trying to download a diff update and it always says that the download has failed. other than that works really well.

That's because the "Stock" 2.2 on ROM Manager is actually the original 2.3.9 leak and not the actual OTA 2.3.15 released on Sept 22nd.
The 2.3.15 deodexed "leak" through TBH is just that, the "leaked" 2.3.15, not the official OTA.
Be a little patient and wait for the real deal deodexed 2.3.15 OTA that is absolutely coming very very soon.

That would be the pre-OTA leaked test build of 2.3.15 which has been deodexed and provided through TBH's app. There are reports that people are installing this over the official OTA without issue, but I'm personally waiting for a deodexed copy of the true OTA as I have found the OTA to be preferable to the leaked 2.3.15 I was running before going OTA (in every respect except for the stupid OTA forced screen lock BS).

Can you quantify other differences? I've seen a lot speculation (me included) about which one is better, but no hard data.
I've using the leaked .15 and have had zero problems.

Truthfully I'm hard pressed to come up with any actual evidence in favor of one or the other. Based on my personal, subjective experience I've found the official OTA to be smoother, more responsive and more stable. When using the new universal rockplayer on all of the leaks there were typical formats (mainly xvid encodes) that wouldn't work correctly even though the older v7 rockplayer played them fine. With the OTA, the universal rockplayer no longer has these problems.
I've never really had any force close issues I can attribute to any of the updates (the only FC's I've run into throughout have been because of websites issues in Dolphin HD). I feel that many of the FC issues people experience may have more to do with the apps themselves than with the system.
I never had any market issues with any of the releases so I can't speak to that aspect (I've always used Beesley's build.prop mods including the current one for the OTA so I don't believe that to have an effect on anything).
My linpack and quadrant scores have been consistently higher with the OTA than with the 2.3.9, 2.3.13 or 2.3.15 leaks (though all that speaks to is a theoretical benchmark score and not much real value). That could be giving me a placebo effect, making me feel like it is more responsive just because there's some numbers evidence (even if the numbers are total BS, lol). I consistantly get mid 14's in linpack and mid 14's in quadrant where with the leaks I would really only hit high 13's in each (even with FlyX and Tranquility which I am currently not messing with until birdman tweets that things are set with the OTA and FlyX). I'm trying to stay safe since OTA updated the bootloader and has a different kernel than the leaks.
Has anyone else who have used both the leaks and official OTA actually kept track of anything they can speak about? I wish I would have kept notes throughout the process.
well i was able to create my own 2.2 ota deodexed update.zip.. but as i began to modify it at 3am my lack of sleep caused me to take short cuts and make an incredibly stupid mistake. I ended up attempting to reflash my phone to test out my update.zip without thinking.. i completely forgot that there was no 2.2 sbf file and i used the 2.1 sbf file. So now i have a hefty brick in my hands, but already have a new one being sent to my house with next day shipping. I will test it out on the new phone and then post it here. It will be deodexed/png optimized/zip alligned/with blackbar modded notification bar.
i was so pissed that i had everything done, and pulled an epic fail during testing.

stupid questions...................
First, what is that "deodexed" thing? Can anyone explain it in plain English? I was pretty good addict flashing Roms on my Nexus 1, but am kinda afraid to do anything with my new Dx, for unknown (to me) reason.
Also, i have heard or read somewhere that if i wipe everything in recovery, before flashing new "zip", i will be stuck at M logo forever.....is that correct?? I would appreciate anyone who can explain these.............ty.

This is a rooted ROM built off the official HTC Sense/Froyo v3.21.605.1 release (pulled from signed RUU). As of 9/30/2010, this build remains the most recent official release for the Droid Incredible from HTC/Verizon. If you are looking for a completely untouched ROM with only the changes necessary to sustain root access, this thread is for you.
ROM Details:
Completely unmodified (odexed version) and sourced from RUU_Incredible_C_Froyo_VERIZON_WWE_3.21.605.1_Radio_2.15.00.07.28_2k4k_NV_1.50_PRL58006_release_143351_signed.exe.
Includes all system components and full boot image.
Rooted with Superuser 2.3.6.1.
Absolutely nothing removed.
Odexed (untouched) and deodexed (suitable for mods/themes) both available.
Installation:
You must be rooted, have nand unlocked and be running a 2.x radio. Follow dadicus' guide for details on how to perform these steps.
Perform a nandroid backup of your current ROM, in case you change your mind or encounter issues.
Apply the zip via Clockwork Recovery. It has not been tested with any other recovery.
If you are coming from another completely stock ROM (i.e. Sense 2.1 or 2.2), you may not have to wipe data. I obviously recommend wiping data (since it will eliminate any possibly bad/stale configuration), but the update script will not do so automatically during installation. Use your best judgement to determine what works best for you.
Disclaimer
As with any modification (ROM, patch, etc), you run the risk of damaging your device. While unlikely, it is important to consider this possibility before proceeding. I take no responsibility for any such damage, data loss or otherwise.
Changelog
Version R2 Odexed, R3 Deodexed (9/30/2010):
Fixed boot.img ramdisk to set ro.secure=1 and persist.service.adb.enable=1.
Updated Superuser to 2.3.6.1.
Deodex fixes for Teeter and Camera app missing shutter audio.

I agree but until it's being pushed by Verizon I didn't want to make a claim I couldn't be absolutely certain is correct.
Downloading to my phone now. This is reversible to a previous nandroid update without issues right? Since it's just boot and system img? Both which are backed up by nandroid. I'm already running 2.15 radio.

ARGGHHH!!!!! I HATE VERIZON RIGHT NOW.
Wife called so it switched to 1XRTT and stopped the data connection. Couldn't resume. There's 80MB down the tubes...starting over again.
ARGGHHH!!
So here's the million dollar question, did they fix the charging/battery drain issues?
Can you post just the radio update that is part of the RUU?
-Robert
is there any advantage of doing this the long way? via PB31IMG to update the Hboot to .92? I'm happy with the last leak at the moment but dont know how the hboot update will effect anything
flashing this as I type and will give follow up.
Thanks man. This makes things easy.
First off, I'd like to thank rmk40 for throwing this together as fast as he did.
And, just an honest question looking for an honest answer.

Yes. As soon as it's ready I'll provide two versions of the package -- one dexoded and one not.
Is it possible to host this elsewhere, for better download speeds?
To those who are running this:
What's the difference between this and the 8/1 leak? Other than the latter being deodexed.
Thanks!
In order for me to go back, I'll have to sbf to 2.1u1 and lose many hours spent customizing my phone the way I want. I want it to be worth it, not just as a way to hide the fact that I voided the warranty.
Can someone list here an impromptu changelog of the diffs between 2.3.15 to 2.2 OTA? Thx.

They just changed keys from the previous bootloader, not made it stronger from what I understand. It'll be a moot point once someone gets a 2.2 sbf. Still, I want to know what benefits, if any, there are between 2.3.15 (or just 2.2 leak) and the 2.2 OTA.

One benefit is to the OTA is the updated Kernal. As of now, we are still on the kernal from the first 2.2 leak.
What benefits does that bring?
EDIT: Tweet from the ever-astute P3Droid:
If you don't need the newest radio .07 or the newest kernel then I would not take the OTA, I refused it on my phone.

He lives in the same area (same county, same metro area) that I do, so if he doesn't need the newest radio then neither do I (unless the newest radio... and by that I assume he means the CDMA and phone radio(s), not the FM radio app, has better low-signal strength receive abilities). I'll hold off till birdman gives us that rooted OTA (and hopefully deodexed as well).
TBH also has promised something VERY nice on Friday (assuming this OTA hasn't knocked that something down into 2nd place priority for them).
A friend of mine who did the OTA said his kernel was still at 2.6.32.9 . the characters following that (which I think is just a build time stamp?) is different.
So I question whether its really a newer kernel, or just a newer compile/build of the same source?
Yeah I'm staying on 2.3.15 leak until at least we get 2.2 sbf. I don't really see a point of upgrading right now and putting myself at risk of having the phone bricked, since 2.1 sbf will be useless.

Hi everyone,
Saw a request for this in vibrant general, and while I'm sure most devs and cooks will have long since already deodexed the OTA JI6 for their own uses, hopefully this will still be of use to somebody.
So, that said, this is the stock JI6 OTA rom, fully deodexed, with the stock JI6 kernel and modem, pre-rooted with busybox installed.
NOTE: this was made from the "T959UVJI6 ## NEW" ODIN firmware posted a while back.
Many thanks to all the wonderful devs here, and especially to Eugene373 and Anomalous for provinding the original JFD deodexed base that I used to learn how to compile my own flashable roms.
Warning, this will wipe your data, and this has only been tested via clockwork recovery.
Download: Removed, sorry, caused problems for some people
Cheers everyone, =)
Thanks this is just what I needed.
Me too! I would also like to learn how to do this myself in future. I dual boot ubuntu 10.04 and windows 7, so any tips in either os?

Hi,
Sorry for the issue.
I'm honestly not sure why its happening, it didn't happen on my phone when I tested everything before uploading, and the bootclasspath's used for deodexing were the same that anomalous used for the original JFD deodexed rom. That said, admittedly, I usually run a personalized version of either frankin-twiz/hybrid or bionix rom daily, was only uploading this since I had already deodexed JI6 for personal use (I always like to build new theme's/mods from unmodified/stock files) and saw a request in general.
Anyway, at this point, since sombionix moved to the OTA files too, I'm probably not going to look into it or really support this, sorry.

I am running 5.8.894 and .. as far as I can tell, I am the only one. I have seen 5.7.894, and 7.893 .. but I am 5.8.894.
I have two questions.
1) What is the .8? Is it kernel?
2) Am I one of the first, or are my searching skills just way off.
A couple observations as well. I did a full stock restore, applied the 4EVER Root, did a cheesecake to the staging servers of the big M, applied it and I still have root.
Camera is WAAAAAYYYYY Faster too. Hopefully it fixes the radios issues as well and the application vanishing.
So you went out and grabbed this OTA version?
Sounds like it might be the "official" Moto soak test OTA. That is allegedly (It IS Moto after all) about to or already circulating to testers.
How is it running? Impact on battery usage?
Thanks,
RMD
I just installed so I don't really have anything to say about it yet.
So you're saying this is the "official" OTA that I picked up?
I'm guessing that it MAY BE THE OFFICIAL OTA. No way of knowing for certain yet.
Since you grabbed it off an "M" server, that would be my guess.
I haven't yet seen any reports of folks involved in the soak test reporting what version the OTA results in on their handsets.
Keep us posted.
Thanks,
RMD

yeah my bad, sorry for not reading your original post more carefully
I think it's interesting that this update doesn't block perma root when the first .894 update did. Does this mean Motorola is taking steps in the right direction or is it something as simple as they forgot to put it in this version? Who knows, I'm hoping it's the former though.
I was thinking the very same thing? Moto grows a heart? Or maybe a brain?

Any chance you'd be willing to share that deodexed version? Especially if you're rooted?
I haven't been able to find a deodexed and rooted version of this anywhere.
Custom ROMs are fine and all, but sometimes I'd rather just have the stock but rooted and deodexed so I can run Xposed. I can always disable the bloat via TiBu.

Were you able to successfully update to the new DOJC? I have put this version on my S6 and I am experiencing serious cell standby issues. I have never turned on VoLTE for calling and this is bugging me. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar battery life/cell standby issues with this new update. I flashed it via ODIN but am seriously considering a full wipe at this point.
