[Q] question on FRG33 to FRG83 - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I update from FRG33 to FRG83?
THanks a lot!

Try it and see, worst that can happen is it fails and makes no changes.

It gives an error as it expects FRF91

Downgrade to frf91 if u upgrades your hboot then you need to downgrade there is a tutorial on how to do that in the development section. If you use Tom manager you can download the the stock erd27 or frf 91 then upgrade to frg83. I hope that helps.

my phone is unrooted, will it work? I tried re-installing a previous version but said it was older

would google push an ota frg83 update for folks with frg33?

Unknown, wait a week and see, if they were going to, they would have by then.

I really doubt frg33 I think was a flook this is a real deal. But who knows with Google.

nexus one won't detect OTA update (2.1 build ere27)

hi everyone
i just received my 2nd nexus one from google after my original one got jacked at the gym (dame thieves!). for some reason my new nexus one doesn't detect the 2.1 build ere27 OTA update, and i'm not able to upgrade to the developer build of 2.2 build frf72 because it requires I have ere27 before upgrading. can someone please help me? like is there a way to turn on automatic updates or provide me with a link to manually update to "2.1 -update1" (build ere27) from my current 2.1 build erd79
after using flash in the browser on my old n1, it's hard using 2.1 when knowing full-well i can be using 2.2
***EDIT***
Just to be clear, my n1 hasn't been rooted and I prefer not to root (in order to preserve my warranty)

Same question asked - you need to install ERE27, then FRF50, then FRF72.
Thanks mate!

[Q] Nexus One Update Issues

Hey everyone,
I have a Nexus one running stock 2.2 FRF91 (it came with 2.1 but it updated automatically to 2.2 when I switched it on the first time)
After a while I rooted it using androot and it works just fine. The thing is that I've been reading that, in order to get the 2.3 OTA, I should update it first to 2.2.1 (FRG83). So I started looking for a manual update, I realized I had to unroot the device, so I unrooted it using androot. I could find the FRF91 to FRG83 update, I renamed it to update.zip, pushed it to my memory card and booted into recovery. When I go to update from the update.zip file, I get a "E:Signature verification failed" error. I re-downloaded the same update from different places many times, but I get the same problem. Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance for your help everyone.
Omar.
you first need to install FRG33 then FRG83 after which OTA will bring it up to FRG83D.
Search forums for the files and instructions. I'll try and find them when I'm on the laptop and post the link

[Q] Software Updates?

Hi,
I was playing with ROM flashing and the like and I decided to go back to stock, so I did using the ODIN flash to JF6. However, it seems that I have trouble getting the JF7 update over the air to work. Any ideas?
Thanks
I'm a Noob, but you might try Kies - It should detect a newer version available and let you update that way. Much more reliable in any case if you ask me.
You can do search flashing to stock JH7 that should help you. If no one else has sent you a link by the time I get to my computer I'll send you a link I think it will be flashing 1010 build or something like that.

I've had more problems with kies than anything else, try the samsung website to update.
I see you was wanting JF7, I don't know what the difference is but this will get you back to stock JH7 Eclair.

I tried it, it works.
Well I want JH7, but I also want to be able to get the official Froyo when or if it comes out.

Like stated above.... flash using kies mini.... then you'll be ready for official AT&T froyo.
Alright thanks for all your help, Mini Kies did the trick.

[Q] What does "Main version is older! Update fail!" mean?

I got my Nexus One back from repair. They put new rom in and I have very few luck installing any update or rom to it.

When trying to install FRG33 as it would allow getting Gingerbread it says "Main version is older! Update fail!" So what does it mean and what can be done about it?
Unfortunately, the cause is unknown, and there doesn't seem to be a solution to this. It's been suggested that it may be specific to refurb/repaired phones...

I managed to get gingerbread but it required unlocking the phone and using fastboot. I also thought for a while I bricked the phone as the Nexus One original rom does not support SLCD...?

Nexus One Updating

Hi,
I have bought a new nexus one, it is unlocked from HTC and runs on 2.1, my question is how do i update it manually to 2.3.4?
I am new at this so if you explain clearly so i don't mess up.
Thanks inadvance
First you open your browser and go to google. Then you type in Nexus One manual update.
Welcome Masantula!
First of all, read the wikis and the FAQ guides available on XDA forums. There is a lot of information available that can help you get started.
Did you just want to update to stock 2.3.4 ROM? It would help if you could provide more information on your Nexus One.
Go to Settings>About Phone then post back with the Baseband version and, kernel version and build number details.
It would be great to know if you have a AMOLED or SLCD version of the Nexus One. The updating process is slightly different from my own experience. To find out, switch off your phone then restart it again by holding down the vol down button first then power on. You should see a page with three androids on skateboards, have a look then you should see details of MICROP. Is yours 0b15 (AMOLED) or 0c15 (SLCD)?
Can't he just type *#*#2432546#*#* ?
Read my signature, look there for "Unroot/restore" guide, PASSIMG method, using FRG83. Execute, and you'll be on 2.2.1 (if you're not already). From that point, just wait until you get the update OTA.

Hi Philip.
Go to the link below and follow the instructions under PASSIMG method, using FRG83. Once you do that than you will be on stock Froyo (2.2.1).
After this you can check your phone for a new OTA update, current one out is 2.3.4.
If you don't get the OTA update go to the link below to know how to manual update your phone to 2.3.3 and than 2.3.4. Start with 2.3.3 followed by 2.3.4
