ive read there is a code that can be punched into the dialer to bring up the settings
the version i found just shuts down the dialer
maybe its the wrong code for our devices
The only thing I wish I could increase the volume of is the external speaker. Meltus' app doesn't appear to do that.

I'm running CM6.0/FroYo and that isn't an available option.
Copied from another thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15406689
"I am surprised at the lack of information and help on the net for this issue. The in-call volume, and the speakerphone, are very quiet. Forget the radio and driving with the windows down, a moderate breeze is enough... I press the phone hard against my ear and still don't catch everything.
I've used CM's DSP manager to boost the speaker signal, and this isn't enough.
Even with full volume & the DSP boost, there is very little crackle. It's as if the speaker is barely utilized.
I haven't met anyone else with an Aria, but every other Android phone I've seen works perfectly fine as, you know, a phone."
There must be a way to overdrive the speaker, right?
Everything else works fine on the watch, but for some reason I can not call out. Every time I try to call out, it ends the call immediately. Anyone else having this problem? Is there something that I need to do to get it to work? It's weird cuz I can receive calls and get text, I can even send out text messages, just can't make calls through the watch.

Reset the Gear and see if that helps. May be a pairing with the Note issue if everything else is working.

There is another reason it might fail, same with any bluetooth device i have used so far with android. If there is no default app for calls ( if you have Skype for example or Google voice and are relying on it prompting you which to use for each call) then it might fail silently too. workaround is to set a default for now. Not ideal though as you loose the option of choosing. (hopefully the gear will get the same choice dialog that the parent phone has)

Did this end up working? I'm having a similar problem. I can make calls from the gear, but once they answer and the screen turns off on the gear I press the power button and it flashes on then off again. The only way to make it work is to immediately tap the top right menu button once the call is answered. Same problem when receiving a call too. Really frustrating when I can't end the call and look like a tool asking the other person to hang up or pulling out my phone to do so lol.

FIXED
Sorry to resurrect only thread yet found the solution. Had the same prob, tried the same things without results.
SOLUTION:
On your phone choose Settings -> Device -> Call -> Call Accessories.
It is called "Outgoing Call conditions", and it allows you to set it up so that you can make calls even if the device is locked.
This worked and hope this helps others who may have the same problem.
I start the morning off good with messages coming through, but then a few hours in they stop, and it is getting really annoying.... I am on latest gear manager and everything....anyone else have this issue? Or know of a fix?
If I can't consistently get messages to my watch, it is worthless.

I agree, that would make it worthless to me to.
I had problems with text notifications etc at first myself.
It took me a while to realize that for notifications to make it to the watch, I had to be running the stock messaging app (I had been using HandCent for years) & the phone screen had to be off at all times.
I installed the modded version of the stock TW messaging that has a toggle for screen on/off when a message came in. After switching to that (plus using the Samsung email app as opposed to GMAIL), I now get all my gear notifications almost instantly and I love the thing.
I also loaded my custom ringtones to the gear so it will ring a lot louder.

It could I suppose, I have found that absolutely anything that turns the screen on will block the notification from getting through to the watch.
I don't use a lockscreen (I just go straight into the phone from the home screen/power buttons)
I saw a post from someone saying that lock widgets will mess up the gear but I don't know if it's true.
I know mine works perfectly and I'm not updating ANYTHING at this point!!

Sorry if this has been asked or answered before. I've googled and searched XDA with no luck. I may just not know the terms to use.
I'm wondering if there's any way to start apps or shortcuts on the phone from the watch? Has anyone been able to do this?

i haven't found a way, but do you mind sharing with us what are you trying to achieve?
I'd like to be able to trigger tasker tasks that control music around the house, trigger playlists, use Google voice search on the phone from the watch etc. I also have lots of contextual triggers set up on my phone that would be interesting to respond to on the watch.

You need the plugin Autoremote (full version, not the lite) There's a thread on how to use it. Search for Autoremote.

That sounds hilarious, sorry. As far as I saw, the only options for talking were in the extended options of language and input in settings. I'll dig around and see if I can find something. I'll definitely want it disabled myself.
I noticed this today at the worst possible time in a middle of a meeting. Can't find an option to turn it off.
Went through there as well ,unless I'm not checking something correctly... could you check your calculator app and tell me if your having the same problem?
Just got this phone and never messed around with any of thoose kind of settings anyways.

Did you give any app pemissions in accessibility. If you did read this image i attached. When you give some apps permission Samsung has some issues sometimes with the voice kicking on but Samsung actually had a work around built right into the phone.
Have recreated your problem just do the work around which the phone does for you.

This is how I shut off mine. Under Accessibility if you have anything under Services, turn them off. I had Greenify on and it made my calculator talk, but once I shut it off, calculator stopped talking. Hope it helps.
Found this page with people having same issue. Seems like tmobile and att is the pattern. Tmobile here. Greenify not installed. Double checked all my settings too.

You have to click on the settings button thats below whatever app you would have given permission look at my pic i posted you will see the settings listed at the bottom but since you say you didn't do that then there is no workaround. Did you turn on a app you didn't necessarily had to do it in accessibility some apps will just do it automatically. Can you tell me what apps you may have installed that help with battery or after market lockscreen just anything you can think of

Neither
NOTE 4
On my phone, it was caused by activating Greenify in the accessibility settings. When I did that, I got a popup telling me that my default language didn't match TTS. It offered me options of canceling, going to settings, or enabling TalkBack. So, for some reason, activating Greenify activates TalkBack. Voila. Talking calculator.
