i rooted my phone to get the download mode which was sucessful then updated firmware to 2.2 via odin, rebooted now got 2.2 tried then tried to go back into download mode and it wont work tried to re root it no sucess any ideas guys???
it's not surprising, it can happen even when you flash from some 2.1 ROM to other 2.1 ROMs
you can always install the 3 Button SPL fix in the Dev section
that will take care of the problem

hi everyone
i am a new user in andriod world
my sgs is rooted and i have superuser
i install rommanger to easy go to download mode
and i want to downgrade to stock rom 2.1 using odin
but they said dont flash any rom without 3 button combo fix
but 3 button combo fix need recovery 2e and froyo 2.1
and my SGS is fryo.JPJPG 2.2 and recovery 3e
please help i am really confused
it is not advisable, you need to have that mode working before touching the rom
Thanx man
But i am asking about stock rom not a custom rom
And how a fix the 3 but with 2 .2 they said it should be 2.1
and i want to downgrade to stock rom 2.1 using odin
Not a problem remove lagfix and root first to be safe .
But only if you can access download mode .
but they said dont flash any rom without 3 button combo fix
but 3 button combo fix need recovery 2e and froyo 2.1
If your download mode works you do not need a fix .

Then you do nothing until you can and you have no other way than below .
Access recovery mode via the jig is the normal method .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
Then flash Eclair via Odin .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818556
Block 2 Method via Odin to 2.1
jje
The links u give is for bricked phones
and the second one for upgrade
This is not what i want
i whant to downgrade to fryo 2.1 before i apply the 3 but fix
since the 3 but fix will brick your phone if its not 2.1 and recovery e2
Thats it
and thanks for fast reply
Odin
Flash eclair firmware with re -partition ticked and pit relevant to the firmware you download
I usually format internal data and system
Go to download mode and via Odin install Eclair I9000XWJM8 from samfirmware .
Result android 2.1
jje
than x so much for help
why specially Eclair not froyo
my current firmware froyo 2.2 JPJPG
so that's what i am planning
1 - get into download mode vie android sdk
2 - flash Eclair I9000XWJM8 using odin with re partition ticked
3 - downgrade from recovery e3 to e2
4 - now safe to apply the 3 but com fix
pls advice if i am doing something wrong
I just bought my Galaxy S and it came with 2.3, I tried to install CM7 but it left my phone unbootable so I used Odin to install 2.2, after that I tried to upgrade to 2.3 again using Kies but it said the fw I'm using cant be upgraded.
Now still on 2.2 I followed:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S:_Full_Update_Guide
I got to the point where I flash the new kernal and now my phone freezes once it reaches lockscreen. I've tried reflashing lots of times. All I can do is access download mode...is there anyway to just completely restore the phone to 2.3 or CM7 from download mode?
My Galaxy S is i9000 and unbranded from the UK
Thanks for any help
Put Darky and then u can install whatever u want. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091
I was recently fooling around with my galaxy s, and at first I was able to flash it with eclair 2.1.
Then I went on to try to flash it to 2.2 so that I could use clockwork mod, root before I tried installing cyanogen mod.
But I'm not sure if I installed the right firmware from samfirmware there are so many different localizations and each one has different versions of 2.2 as well. I know I messed around with the pit files, maybe that caused the problem. But now I can't even flash back to 2.1 with Odin, because as soon as the process completes and Odin says it is a success the galaxy s restarts and displays a frozen loading circle, and then keeps restarting showing the frozen loading circle each time. After pulling out the battery and restarting, now it is a white screen flashing on and off ever 3 or so seconds ....
Can anyone please help me? I CAN access the download mode.
If you have download mode it's not bricked, just flash a rom using odin corresponding to version you already had installed. If you had 2.2 flash 2.2 if you had 2.3 flash 2.3. search youtube for tutorial on how to flash using odin.
Can you try to coming in Download Mode when yes its not bricked

Well, he does use Odin again, so indeed not bricked
Pull out the battery, put it back in, get into the download mode. Download the stock 2.3 firmware from the General forums (XXJVT) and flash it via Odin.
I have no clue which region firmware to download. I was able to flash it using UGKC1_BMCKC1 but now it just stuck on the galaxy S screen...
Does anyone know where I can find a stock 2.2 froyo firmware? samfirmware.com has so many I have no clue which one is right.
Try totallydubbedhd on youtube or darkyrom forum helped me i softbricked mine twice
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
I am having a problem that no matter which stock ROM i try and load, if it is a 2.3 I end up in a boot loop and have to go back to vodafone au eclair to get my phone booting again.
I was running XXJVO but the other day after installing some apps my phone froze and then wouldn't charge or boot. Flashing back to 2.1 seemed to sort out most of my problems but trying to go back to 2.3 (even via kies) results in a boot loop. Anyone have any suggestions of what I can try.
2.3 roms that i have tried:
XXJVR
XXJVO
Vodafone stock 2.3
Darkys rom 10.1 re
I also having problems with soft touch buttons they disappeared after Darkys and touck key FW update hasn't worked on any roms that i have tried 2.1 or 2.2
Anyone with suggestions would be greatly appreciated as don't wanna be stuck on 2.2!!
What cwm recvery do you have?
I would go into download mode, connect to ODIN and flash a voodoo kernal, go into recovery and turn off all the lags, I had a similar problem with bootloop and disabling all the lags cured it. Then do a wipe, reflash via ODIN to a stock firmware then flash your custom rom.
Hope this is of some help
hello guys - about 2 months ago ive installed ICS 4.0 onto my SGS1 al works fine till... yesterday
Basically phone turned off in me pocket - so I did tried to turn it on but it just show SGS logo - then ICS logo and then all over again, again and again. I can get phone to the download mode but not to RECOVERY MODE - it just doesnt work. can anyone help me pls ? !
Well i don't know but if the download mode is OK maybe try to reflash it? If i were on your place i would definitely not wait but reflash it
Put your phone into the download mode and flash a rooted kernel with CWM.
try FixRecovery solution http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24407067&postcount=2598
There is a possibility, flash trough odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=925613&d=1330551490
You only flashed ICS (let me guess AOKP?), without another kernel, you see AOKP does not have CWM ;-) Done this mistake by myself, reflash older fw with odin, root, install kernel with CWM, flash ICS, flash kernel. If still in bootloop, flash again ;-)
