I ignorantly tried to flash the new Gmail (2.3) app to my phone not realizing it was FroYo only. Can anyone post their stock Gmail apk/odex for me? I'm don't think this matters but I am running Cognition.
nm, I got it from a system dump kindly provided by rajendra82 :

Hi,
Currently use Froyo DOG Beta 8.1 ROM (fully deodexed) with all bloatwares removed.
I've been searching everywhere for Buddies Now & All share deodexed apk but can not find them. Any help in getting these apk's is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I would also love to get buddies now back on my phone. Ive tried all the similar apps in the market and none are as good. Running cog 2.3.2 and loving everything else.

So I installed the Gingerbread 2.3 ROM on my Droid1. It's my old phone so tinkering with it and ROM'ing it doesn't matter.
I got Gingerbread on it, 2.2.7 Market, Gapps, everything works fine following a factory reset and a cache wipe.
however within the first 30 minutes or so, it seems like Google blocks my account from doing anything, such as installing apps(browsing apps works fine), logging into Google Talk and using Google services. Gmail "push" stops also.. have to force a refresh.
I opened up the build.prop and notice a bunch of 'test-keys' entries.. could they be actively looking for this and blocking it?
Anyone able to open the build.prop on a Nexus S and check things out?
How did you get GB one it do u have a link for download ill flash and see whats going on

I really don't want to reflash I just wanted the file to pull the Apk and odex files. If anyone has them or could grab and zip.. it would be a great help

so much trouble for you to extract the files you need from a zip?
Is there a stock email client (email.apk) or something that I can install on a ROM (2.3.3). One where I don't have to choose pop3 or w/e the three options are. I'm currently running serendipity VII (7) and I can't seem to find a legitimate email client like I used to have on my 2.2 froyo when i first got the phone (You could have all sorts of email accounts on it).
All help is greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Your Noob.

If you are not against reflashing you can always download serendipity again. They have an add-ons section that will build you a custom package with the samsung email built in.
http://serendipity7.weebly.com/add-ons.html
you can also download one of the several email applications thru the market. I did the reflash when i first ran serendipity before i changed to CM7.
Ahh thanksll. I was actually asking because I uses the kitchen on their site and it wasn't installing the right client so I thought perhaps I was just getting a fluky file.
Thanks again,
Your noob.

You can sometimes get a bad download. I know from experience that the add-on of the stock e-mail thru serendipity does work which is why I recommended the redownload and reflash. I had to reflash 3 times when I changed to serendipity.
