Where are the settings for blacklisting txt messages on cm6
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
i dont think you can blacklist in the stock sms app on cm6. install handcent, longpress the number the texts are coming from, select blacklist, then go into the stock sms and disable notifications (or just uninstall the stock sms app, thats what i prefer). do that and you should be good to go.

Hi,
I'm running Cyanogens rom 4.2.12.2
I use handcent for messages but the standard messaging app is also receiving and sending messages - this is the same for contacts i use acontacts but both contacts and acontacts being updated with the same information
do i need to re-wipe or is there an easier way that only one will do what i want
regards
Handcent
Are they being sent twice, or are you just receiving a notification twice?
Did you go into the default messaging app and disable the notifications under menu>settings?
I am using the handcent sms application but now i have double notifications.
Handcent SMS app when i receive in coming messages and 2nd one from default sms client is there a way i can stop the default sms client to give me the notifications and only get the notifications from the handcent sms app ?
Go into the default messaging app, then settings, then uncheck Notifications(display message in status bar).

Click to collapse
Great Thanks
other question about this: does handcent need the messaging app to work? cause i never use my messaging app, but often it boots without my asking. Mostly after some texting.
I use handcent and I'm sick of getting 2 notifications everytime I get a message so I wanna delete the default messaging app

Just go into settings on the stock messgaing app and turn off notifications.
But I want it gone like forever

What for? Why does it bother you? It doesn't take app space.
You can't do it without root, anyway.
Does Handcent rely on the stock app for info or would it work as a standalone?
Anyways, disabling notifications from your messaging app can be confusing the first time. First you'll have to hit menu>more>show all threads. When you are on all the all threads screen you hit menu then preferences (settings) and all the way towards the bottom, uncheck notification.
i was thinking handcent relies on the stock messenger app, but i am not sure any more.. it could be stand alone, best way to find out is pull the stock messenger app from system/app then do a remove and test.. if get FC or wierd problems jus push the apk back in and reboot!
Downloaded handcent to give it a try. I like it but lost the puzzle unlock ability which i miss. Is there any way to get it back while using handcent.or is there a better sms app out there??

disable handcent notifications and re-enable notifications in stock sms app.
then the puzzle peice will be back. when it opens, it should give you a window asking which app to use (stock or handcent) check handcent and the check box saying always use this app
the issue now is that it won't clear the message notification. puzzle piece is still showing after you have responded. have to manually clear the notification
How do I make Handcent the default messaging app again? Auto retrieve is unchecked in Serendipity native messaging, but it is still receiving messages. Thanks.

...sigh... Did you turn off the notifications on the native app also?
Notifications are off. Not getting double notifications. Just seems very inefficient to have messages loaded by both apps. Gotta be a way to shut down native app without messing around with scripts.

If you have the paid version of titanium backup, you can select the native messaging app and freeze it and see if your messaging still works, if it does still work, use root explorer and make a copy of the native app, save it to the sd card and delete the original. Just throwing out trial and error options, so I'm not responsible if it doesn't work lol. If deleting the native messaging apk caused fc's, just copy and paste the original and you should be back to where you started though.

Do you mean that the preinstalled messenger is the default SMS application?
Have you gone to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All Tab -> Messenger -> Clear defaults?
Yes. Cleared messages and handcent cache. Next message comes in...choose handcent ad default. Go to messages app and same message is there. Not a biggie, but seems inefficient. Thanks

I'm fairly certain that SMS are stored somewhere different and the apps just access that single location; you don't have the same message in multiple locations. If you downloaded a third messenger app later, you should be able to access all the previous conversations as well.
Ok. That makes me feel better then, lol. Thanks
