Stealing the DLNA app from droid x - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can we successfully steal the dlna app from the droid x? I am looking for a way to take apk files from mulitple phones to get the best apps.

Why?
Its a well known application (not widget) that works as a media server on the PS3 or Windows 7 libraries. Seemed obvious to me bc its a highly touted feature of the Galaxy S phones by Samsung so I feel like a separate thread isn't necessary. Just my opinion

but for some reason allshare does not run in the background which is the one bad thing that means i cant go on the internet and use it at the same time not sure about the Droid X DLNA app

allshare is horrible for upnp and dlna from the receiving end it wont decode correctly until I use minidlna

i liked that app on my SGS
but there was a bug with the Emails
it always gets lots after new emails arrives
I would love if that apk wored on our Neuxs
I enjoyed that app on my vibrant,i was just wondering hopefully a dev can get it working right one day
I guess I am the only one interested in video downloads. I love watching videos on my vibrant and would move to the Nexus if it had access to tv/movie downloads or streams. Anyone get the media hub working on the Nexus?
it probably requires DRM in TouchWiz or something since Galaxy S is making Media Hub exclusive to Samsung's TouchWiz Experience? who knows.

Skifta for DLNA

I'm new to forums ... but have you tried Skifta. It is not optimized for the Xoom yet. Only works in portrait mode for me. Let me know if you can get files to play from other sources to the Xoom (espically video)

I can get pictures and music to play on Xoom for the PC but not video

We just updated the version in the Android market to v0.73. Amongst many other things, this should fix up landscape mode and make it a bit more sensible to use on the Xoom.
Give it a go and let us know what you think!
Allan (of the Skifta team).
Twonky works. I have a media server and I am able to access video from several devices including the Xoom using Twonky. The thing with video is what type it is. I find avi has less issues. MP4 can be tricky.
I use it with PlayOn and Vortexbox as my backends and the new version with tablet support is exactly what I have been waiting for! Nice job!
I have been using it since I got my Xoom to stream from my xbmc box. It has worked pretty well for me. My only suggestion is to make sure and exit out of the app when you are done or it will murder your battery.

DLNA alternative

I recently switched to CM7.1 and would like to have an app that does DLNA media streaming similar to what the stock rom had. Anyone have any suggestions? Any feedback would be most appreciated.

twonky
it works great, i use it all the time
I tried twonky, I like imediashare a bit more, seems to have a decent about of options

I love imediaShare. I have zero complaints. Twonky didn't work as well with my hardware.
Skifta is AMAZING. Very user friendly.

whats the difference between the paid and free imediashare app? can anyone tell me i cant find it
I've also been looking for a good alternative to the stock DLNA since it doesn't work with ps3. Then again, nothing much works on the ps3 since the network is down. anyway, I tried imediashare, but it didn't seem to work either. Is the ps3 DLNA technology just to outdated for the Thunderbolt?

I confirm imediashare works very nice with ps3. I love its feature where you can
1. stream youtube and many many sites directly
2. I like the way you can search for videos on your mobile and see them on ps3
3. I love its inbuit channels,very useful
4. Reliable and always works, no jerks no crashes.
5. plays HD content
6. Youtube quality is extremely good compared to the ps3 browser youtube.
7. Suppprts UPNP features of my ddwrt router.
It does not play my mobile(3gp) videos because none of these software can transcode, and ps3 can't play 3gp directly.

Media Hub doesn't launch, is it a widget?
Thanks
The media hub is not launching for me either

thanks for the files.
quick (stupid) question...how do I play back and/or edit those boot files? i'm trying to find a player for them and google isn't helping. 7zip can't extract them either...
I think media hub may need another system file to function on our Xooms. I am looking into it. The boot animation, much to my dismay, is in Samsungs proprietary qmg format, which has never been broken to date. This means it will only work on samsung devices unless someone figures out how to crack the qmg code. Samsung pays some company in asia to make it just for them.
Can someone post the keyboard APK from the Galaxy Tab 10.1? Or has this been done in another thread?
Thanks!
But can anyone post the Social Hub instead of the Media Hub? That Social Hub is damn good with Twitter et all!
Anyone? :O

Nexus to Touchpad airplay?

Can I airplay from my Gnexus to the CM9 Touchpad. Thanx
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Airplay, the APPLE video streaming service? I think for airplay to work you have to uninstall the TouchPad, then install an iPad, then uninstall galaxy nexus, and install Apple TV. That should fix it.
Seriously though, is airplay an app, or were you meaning DLNA or something else?
