Ok, so I rooted my wife's phone using this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583291
I seem to have gained root, however, I am getting this error when trying to use Titanium Backup:
BusyBox works but the 'su' command does not elevate to root....whoami...
I installed BusyBox through Titanium and through the market. I also installed Superuser through the market. Not sure where my error is/was, or how to fix it, does anyone have any ideas?
Everything went fine until the end, it did not reboot into recovery, but rebooted normally. I was able to get to recovery by powering on while holding the home button and was able to create a nandroid backup, so no problems there.
I'd like to be able to backup all of her apps before flashing a new ROM, but can't do so with Titanium before I figure out this error.
Will the issues above cause me any problems if I flash a 2.1 ROM, or will I be good to go, aside from having to re-install all of her apps?
Thanks.

I tried to root my Droid 1 (2.2.1 FR83d) with super one click. Everything seemed to work. I got super user access, TI backup runs (mostly)
From Rom manager I installed Clockwork it said everything work but no recovery mode access (yellow triangle) After reading up here it was suggested to flash SPrecovery and then back to clockwork so I did that bot SP and clock work appeared to run fine but still no recovery mode.
Setcpu seems to be working superuser is working but I cannot make a backup of the phone (nand, ROM manager recovery both fail) TI can't uninstall factory apps, and dose not make a complete backup just apps and restores dose not do a complete restore.
It seems I have half a rooted phone. Any ideas on how to fix this?

You prolly fixed this already but in case someone else has this issue. Try installing Busybox from the market.
Same issue and won't boot into clockworkmod recovery

I rooted my phone with eclair installed and used clockworkmod recovery with no issues until I one day wanted to go back to stock and attempted a restore of the backup I made right before flashing the OverStock ROM. The phone wouldn't boot, so finally got the Overstock to go back. Phone worked fine for the most part, but from then on to get into recovery mode, required shutting down and using button presses (Up/down vol/PWR button) and it would go in fine. Could never get Clockworkmod to go into recovery mode with a click. Saw that (finally) Samsung has published a Froyo update, so took back to stock eclair using ODIN3 so I could use Kies mini to update. Did a factory reset to remove all old info directories and data. Update went perfect, but want the option to use the rooted apps (Titanium backup and ClockworkMod--purchased apps) to play with my phone as I see fit. Used SuperOneClick to root phone and verified I can get superuser with using terminal emulator, successfully executing "su" command. Problem is I can't get into CWM recovery. Only get "Android system recovery <3e>". Tried uninstalling CWM and reinstalling. Re-Flashed CWM recovery and it lists version 2.5.1.2 as current and latest.
I obviously need CWM recovery to flash different ROMS, but wanted a current backup before starting. Can't get any further until I figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. I was a noob, just a month ago, but was feeling pretty confident until this happened. Guess I'm still a noob, but just a little more dangerous now. Thanks in advance.
Just noticed that I wasn't in a phone specific thread, so here's my phone details... Samsung Vibrant (T-Mobile).
CWM issues with Milestone
In the last update of the RomManager was added support for version ClockWorkMod 3.x for Milestone - but still unable to use the CWM as standard recovery.
Using another recovery as OR1.4 you can start CMW from the SD card - but that does not solve the problem of RomManager stay with completely limited functions.
The Rom Manager is having updates constantly and I think we have a working version for Milestone soon - but in part I'm upset to see that the Milestone is listed as a supported device - when in fact it is not.
I bought the full version of Rom Manager because I believe it is a great tool and I hope someday I can use all its functions.
I have the same problem. I use OpenRecovery for Sholes to do those things. I hope we can use those tools like a normal user even a day.
To start: yes I know there is already a "rom toolbox pro" thread, but this is addressing a different issue. I began using Rom Toolbox Pro to backup my apps. I am on N223. All of a sudden today after a reboot, it FC's. I tried wiping the data and uninstalling and reinstalling but to no avail. Just wondering if this happens to anyone else. (It started once but never started again)
ALSO: Titanium Backup. Whenever I try to backup my apps, it FC's??? Any ideas?
Did you try fixing permissions? I've had the best results by booting into recovery via Rom Manager. O/W you can also fix via Rom Manager and other apps.
No I havent. My NC is in the middle of a Nandroid backup because im about to start playing around with boot animations so I shall do it when Im done.
Hey guys,
Thanx for looking in this. So, I have a rooted cappy att on a stock 2.2 ota update version of firmware and yesterday I did a nandroid backup for the first time after reading proper instructions. So, after that when my phone booted up it was somehow missing the contacts icon which was no where to be found. So I started my titanium backup pro and tried restoring the contacts app, but it just froze. So, I finally decided to do a nandroid restore. I went into clockwork and restore and started it. So, after it booted up it would just show me LogsProvider error in a loop. So now somehow I managed to go into titanium and then found the LogsProvider and did a restore of that app+data amd it stopped putting the errors. But now, it will get me errors for whatever app I try to access. Till now it has shown me errors in gmail, browser, tw launcher. But xda runs perfect!
Changes that I did for getting the cwm was it wont take me to that green screen for backup no matter how many times I clicked the reinstall packages. So I went into rom manager and flashed a older version of cwm which was 2.5.1.1 instead of the 2.5.1.2 and now I could go into the green and do a backup and this was all before the restore.
So, this is it. I am now booting in with errors and my contacts are gone, cannot open messages. Basically, SCREWED!
Help me out buddies, it would be really appreciated! Thanx in advance.

Hi I recently updated my phone to the newest version of ViperROM.
Ever since I did the update (full wipe), when I go into recovery it mentions this:
Root Access Possibly Lost Fix?
THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE
1. YES fix root (/system/xbin/su)
2. NO do not fix
I didn't have this before I updated my phone, and I'm pretty sure I haven't updated the CWM recently either... I also have SuperSU installed for root access.
I've reinstalled the ViperRom 2-3 times with the same issue, my work colleague is getting the same thing on his phone to (same phones). Both phones have the same recovery, supersu and rom.
Very wierd, anyone else seen anything like this or know how I might fix it?
I've used the option to add SuperSU to system, but the message still shows.
I can't seem to do anything while I have this message. There is an OTA update from ViperROM which I can't install, because is keeps asking to fix root.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you gain root access on the phone? E.g. terminal emulator and use the 'su' command. Do you get a SU prompt?
If not have you tried manually flashing SU zip?

Its got to the point where I'm attempting to install a different SU.zip, and now CWM attempts to install then the screen goes blank.
I can't install anything via CWM at the moment...
I've had root access before installed the Viper 5.0 update, now is gone all weird.
I now can't install any .zip file via the phone, CWM attempts it showing "installing zip" then the screen goes blank and reboots.

I have a backup from before i updated ViperRom 5.0, can I not install TWRP or something? Its just I would then need to reinstall ViperRom again and set everything up.
To be honest, it wasn't perfect from when I did the update, but it still looks better than the old version I was on.

If you back up data you won't need to set it up again. That's my point. Do this
Install TWRP, do a full backup, then wipe and install 5.5 fresh. Then restore Data. Restoring data will return your phone back to the way you had it.
