Does anyone know what happened to Amon_Ra PSFreedom recovery
He removed it because he didn't wanted any problems with sony. Lately sony has been very greedy...
Look it here...

That's a shame, and it probably means that we won't get any updates when the payloads improve or other exploits are discovered.
well i hope amon ra is reading this it looks like sont threats wont really affect people using psgroove payloads as its open source
so im hoping you will update your recovery image as the new hermes payload v3 is now out
if not does anyone know how to edit a recovery image so we can update the payload ourselves?
does anyone have the source for it. I am trying to possibly build it myself. Im reading up on building my own custom recovery.
same here but without the source or some help we cant do anything
klutsh has updated all the other devices recoveries but it was amonra dealing with the dream one
isnt it possible to create a APK Application and NDK with the Payload???
no idea but others may be able to answer that
Anxiously awaiting an update with hermes v3 payload.
here is the recovery 1.1.2 with the hermes v3 payload added and tested on G1
all thanks go to PACMAN366 for this update
I added the v3 payload to Amons recovery image
Dream (tested on G1):
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X67BL6LU
N1 (untested):
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=81YBQTX7
Iv tested the dream image, it seems to work on my G1. i was able to load a backup of resistance 2 w/o a disc though most games still don't seem to work discless. I have not tested the Nexus one image yet soo i would not flash it unless you have access to a pc w/ fastboot. i assume no responsibility for any damages these images might cause. just select the hermes option on the psfreedom menu and insure your using the latest open backup manager (1.16 as of this edit).

SICK! tnx a lot
Check the psfreedom g1 thread, I updated the recovery payload to hermesv4b

Just to begin, normally i am pretty on top of stuff when it comes to messing with hardware/software, so i figured this flashing will be easy.
I started off with rooting my Rogers HTC Dream, which worked out just fine.
Then i tried to install the cyanogen mod, and now i cant boot past the rogers logo.
since then i have tried installing android 1.5 radio, cyanogen's recovery image (1.3.1)
i couldnt find a guide for installing any of these, so essentially the only thing i did was enter fastboot, run fastboot boot recovery.img (the same one i used for rooting) and update from update.zip on each of the things i tried to install.
Seems that I missed out on the initial preperation.
Also, Nandbackup didnt work when i tried to use it, it would just fail every time, so i am left without a backup file of my previous state.
So my question is: What can I do to A:get cyanogen's mod working, or B:restore the unmodified rogers-branded rom to my phone
Thanks guys, any help is greatly appreciated. Just got this phone yesterday, and I love it, but now i seem to have gone and messed it up
I have a bunch of bad backups, they have only the boot.img part of several backups.
K here is the order I did anything.
Rooted->cyanomod 3.6.7.2->recovery 1.3.1 (tried to install it through the raw file, didnt seem to work) radio for 1.5 android-> recovery 1.3.1 (through update.zip, worked)
I figured cyanogen's was compatible kuz on a post about rooting the rogers phone, a link was posted, by cyanogen linking to his mod.
Don't believe its compatible...I read your thread in the development section. Like soulife said, try getting a fellow Rogers G1 user to get you a system dump.
yea that requires a fellow rogers user with a g1 xD
all my friends have dumbphones for now, so no luck

Try posting in the "Rooting Rogers Dream" thread in Dream General. Maybe someone will provide you a system dump in there?

EDIT: I see you made a new thread. Haha I posted in a more populated thread asking for people to take a look at yours. Hope you don't mind
removed due to second post
I have found these files off a rogers G1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=521240&page=13
What exactly do I do now to return my phone to it's initial status.
I already have adb, rogers sdk, random rooting stuff downloaded
Thanks
when i try to restore latest backup in the recovery mode, it starts erroring saying the device has no space
any ideas?
Hey Im working on a Batch Program that lets you Flash SPL's,Radios,Recovery Images,Boot Animations, and other stuff on your phone. Since I am a considerably Lazy person I have decided to make life easier for me and everyone else who doesnt like having to do everything the hard way...
...But I still need some help
What I got working:
-Flashing Recovery Images
-Flashing Boot Animations
-Lets you get into your Phone's Terminal via Adb
What I still need to work on:
-Flashing SPL's
-Flashing Radios
I was wondering if anyone knew How to do those via adb if possible.
if you do, Please post here and It would help a lot.
I haven't flashed a SPL in ages, but doesn't it automatically do that when you enter the bootleader (assuming you have the nbh files already on the sd card)?
So adb reboot bootloader would work right?
Radio might be tricky... Have you looked at cyan updater to see what scripts it runs to reboot and flash images? You could execute them with adb shell.

lol I love your foresight. But if its used right there will be no bricks. its just gunna do everything that your would usually do to flash an SPL....only with one click ^^
But Im thinking about taking that out cuz that might be dangerous.
and nah I havent looked at it yet. havent even used cyanogen's stuff in ages ever since...SUPER D =D
Thinking about making a port of either Clockwork Mod or sprecovery which would the vibrant community rather have?
i never tried sprecovery. i dont like clockwork much...im used to Amon_RA recovery which has so many options and partitions your sdcard for you, if thats even needed for this device
Amon_RA would be INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!
The problem with Amon_RA recovery is that it isn't open source and I can't just download the source code.

I see... well I'd be happy (and very appreciative) with ANY custom recovery! Which do you prefer?
Clockwork

I'd agree with the others on Amon_Ra, but I understand it's probably not going to happen. Wasn't a fan of Clockwork, but would be able to live with it.

i would like to see amon ras recovvery also. im going to ask him if he wouldnt mind givng it to you so you could port it to the vibrant...
I'd even be happy with the old school Cyan recovery, but clockwork would be awesome. I just need some nandroid access.
Clockwork is the only one I'm familiar with... What's the diffs?... Lol, never mind, I'm google-ing it, I'll edit my post if my choice changes
On a Vibrant, using this app-thingy
yeah it cant hurt to ask him if he'll let you port it. but whats sprecovery? does anyone think its better than clockwork?
Personally I like Clockwork's ability to flash unsigned packages.
sp is the basic recovery that you flash, at least I did, when you first start customizing the Droid, and since that is what I came from to the Vibrant that and Clockwork are the only two I know. Haven't used amon so I don't know how it works. I downloaded the source code for Clockwork, now all I need to do is import the proper drivers, and re-write a little bit and I should be able to flash it via adb before the night is over.
Amon_Ra if he lets you, otherwise clockwork
Just so everyone knows, I sent Amon_RA a PM on here asking for the source code for the recovery.
awesome bro, regardless of which recovery you port, thank you so much for your contribution! =]
YES
Thank you! Going to be great to backup again...
http://github.com/AmonRA I would send him a request on github or on http://twitter.com/Amon_RA
How Many partitions does this phone have? You might get it to work but sticking is another problem
Sent using tapatalk
I do prefer Amon's but that's mostly because of the amount of options and that I've mostly used D/S. I can't imagine it being too difficult to port over much of the extras that AR offers to CWM, or vice versa.
It would be nice to have one recovery to rule them all. =)
Does anyone know if this will also work on the DInc?

not a chance unless/until we get an engineering build for the incredible (they tend to be hard to come by sometimes)
NAND has already been unlocked through a patched hboot on the Incredible, we're just waiting for a possible release.
Is this what you are referring to?

Yup. Of course, that doesn't mean they're going to release soon, or maybe not at all, since there's a very real risk of bricking when you're ****ing with hboot.
Noob question here. I tried to search for the answer but couldn't find one.
Why would I want to do this when it seems to me that all of the options are available when I root the phone with Unrevoked3? Is there something more we gain with this full nand unlock?
Some applications try to write to /system for example AdFree so they can modify the hosts file. Currently none of the applications can actually write on the DInc because we only have write permissions when in recovery mode only. Once NAND is fully unlocked, we'll have all the applications running as expected.

I'd love to be able to use metamorph so I don't have to update themes so much... pushing apks with the phone booted really helps me to develop themes as well. Nand unlocked is something I miss about my old android phones....

Why would they announce and never release? If the were able to make an easy root app, I hope they can release something for the nand unlock. I wonder how long it will take them to release...

They say they don't want to release the vulnerability they exploit for the NAND flash unlock because they don't want to to go away (get "fixed" by htc).
You can read about it at their wiki if you go to their site, select the Incredible, and select "More Info?"
ok too much misinformation seems to be getting linked together. so just this once ill comment.
we do have a few completely nand unlocked devices now. we have some more experimentation to go with hboot before it will be worthy of release, ie the fastboot commands. patching it is a slower process as you are correct, its easy to brick. we will be planning a release but do not presently have a timeframe. one problem is while with recovery a error would be corrected by trying again, hboot will brick. so if we do release its going to be a slightly technical process requiring more thought and knowledge so that you have the best chance of success.

The vulnerability has already been shown... i have a copy of the zip saved on my PC and can unlock my nand at will.. You go into hboot and type in some commands and then reboot and upon reboot into android your NAND is unlocked and you can do anything you want including write to /system while in actual android... then upon rebooting your phone a second time your nand relocks by default...
The reason i know this works is that i did the nand unlock and AdFree was able to successfully install a new hosts file on my phone with no problems.. and that program needs specific /system write access while in android itself... also i can remove files in my /system folder while in android using root explorer on the phone itself, without have to do adb at all
what unrevoked is trying to do now is make it permanent where it stays unlocked after a reboot.. but for now its pretty simple, all i have to do is not turn off my phone and my nand will stay unlocked
Shadowmite and Joe92T, thanks for clearing things up for everyone. I hope nobody goes looking for that zip and bricks their device before unrEVOked's release.

The whole thread it was located in has been deleted because it was a leaked file and not an official release, the only people that have it are unrevoked and the people lucky enough to download the attachment before the mods found out
I'm glad it's being worked on. Once it works running true linux on the phone will be possible as would dual booting the phone.
Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for clearing that up!

sorry. Edited for your protection
The Dinc is my first android phone (from blackberries), but from what I can tell, HTC seems to not be as anal about exploits found as some other Android phone makers. I like that.
Does a full NAND unlock allow deleting system apps that were previously not able to be uninstalled with the device on ?
Yes that's what it means,

let me know if you need any help... make sure you use the first link for the kernal, the mirror file is damaged (you'll notice it's smaller in size) I also was never able to get it to work with Cyanogen so I recommend Bugless Beast 0.5. I've been using this with no issues for over 2 weeks now.
sorry I am unable to post links right now
That's the regular psfreedom kernel, not the recovery image or the hermes payload.
btw, that works np for me running any version of CM6.

Is the point of that recovery image to have a dedicated image for exploiting your ps3? If so why not just create your own with Rom Manager, or am I missing the point of this?
They created a recovery image for the Desire where you can switch between payloads (to play a backup without an original blu-ray disc). It also allows you to update the module if any updates become available.

The recovery image he is talking about is that the exploit is stored in the recovery menu. Instead flashing the kernel and lose the ability to have mass storage, and charging the phone that all you do is just boot in the recovery menu and just do the exploit from their while at the same time not reflashing the kernels over and over again. Also the recovery works on every rom unlike the kernel exploit we were using.

Runs PL3 I believe, but there is an option to install other payloads from the sd card though.
