There firmware names. My phone came with JM1, an eclair ROM. I've updated to to JPK which is a new leaked FroYo ROM. Get it now?

Hi I just got my Samsung Captivate and have already rooted it. I want to add a ROM to it (Most likely Phoenix 2.2.1)
I was wondering, do I need Froyo 2.2 to use this ROM, or will the ROM install that for me? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm honestly confused by the whole thing
Thanks for your help
The rom gives you 2.2.1. Make sure you read, read, read
I did read but its a very confusing thread ^_^
Thank you for your help though!
I talking about everything in general. Read. God luck

There are some sticky threads here, some with videos too, about how to flash a ROM and so on things. Go through them and they'll give u all the info u want.
I'm in the USA with an AT&T version of the Tab. Am I able to upgrade to Gingerbread manually? If yes, can someone point me in the right direction to the best/easiest way to upgrade? FYI: I don't have any custom ROMs installed and have never really hacked my Tab beyond installing a new launcher.

Go here. The attachment in the first post will walk you through the process. Read it 3 times over before you do anything just to make sure you know what you are doing. Other than that, it's pretty easy and worth the upgrade.
And if slimdizzy's thread don't float yer boat then try this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078622
Its a thread that takes you by the hand and holds it for every step (thankyou Jacktackle)... It"s a good guide if you were like me and a TOTAL noob at flashing the GT...
Cheers...
You may need the modem.bin file for your brand of GT. That can be found in the link slimdizzy gave you. Just read through the modems, you'll find the right one...
Hi, i was wondering, if my phone is running andoid version 2.1, is it possible to directly update to version 2.3.3 using the link and method below or do i have to update to another android version before going to 2.3.3?
Code:

Thanks in advance
If you're still on 2.1 you probably have a carrier specific ROM, in which case you have the same answer you got the last time you asked:

Thanks for leading me back to my answer, I'm new and didn't really know all the roms and versions types, but finally figured it out.
Thanks.
Hi All,
Does anyone know if the captivate has it? I'm running Continuum ROM, but I doubt that would have taken it out.
How does one remove this? There doesn't seem to be any information about removing it from the captivate, especially without changing ROMS/kernels.
Thanks!

Hello XDA,
I have a SGS I9000. I want to root it and I've been searching all day for a guide that isn't a one click root.
But I have a few questions about what everyone is talking about when they say JP2, JP3, etc.
Also, I'm running Froyo 2.2 and there doesn't seem to be much for it. Could someone please point me in the right direction?
if there is information about the phone that can help find where to go, just ask.
Thanks XDA.

You should 1st flash to 2.3 using odin (https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum...i9000-flashing-to-original-rom-using-odin.46/), then root (https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum...-i9000-rooting-gt-i9000-2-3-3-india-ddjv9.47/) and then you can proceed installation with ICS (https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum...dwich-4-0-4-on-samsung-galaxy-s-gt-i9000.125/) or JB (https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum/threads/installing-jelly-bean-4-1-on-galaxy-s-gt-i9000.131/)

I didn't think it was that complicated.
In that case, could you suggest a oneclick application?
