Does anyone know if there is a good alternative to the Samsung Galaxy S' "Program Manager" widget?
This one little widget is the only reason I'm still using TWLauncher rather than Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher.
Any ideas?
you mean the App that lests you install/uninstall Apps?
there are tons of it if that is the case
Astro file manager comes build in with it

I'm referring specifically to the widget it provides that gives you a counter of how many programs you have running. And doesn't kill all processes when you tap on it.
i don't like the stock Task Manager, it is innacurate, it doesn't show a lot of the hidden apps running. It is a nice feature that shows how many apps are running but that's about it.
There are a lot of alternative Task Managers, but so far i've not found a good one that includes a widget
this one does but is not free
http://www.appbrain.com/app/status-widget/com.domobile.eray.widget
the next best thing is this one
http://www.appbrain.com/app/advanced-task-manager/com.james.SmartTaskManager
but it only tells you how much RAM you have left, you click on it and goes into the full screen which shows everything in detail

I love the stock Task Manager! It doesn't count the running services, which is good because I rather them be out of sight
Hmm that widget could work, but it takes up so much screen real estate.
If you or anyone know of any others, please share!
Closest I could find: http://www.appbrain.com/app/task-manager/com.futonredemption.taskmanager

the one that displays how many apps are running, then once you click on it, allows you to see the name of the running apps and the ability to close/kill them: what is the name of it and can i find it on the market/outside source somewhere? i'd like to install it without installing the i9000 rom. any help is appreciated.
You mean the one that comes with the I9000? It's just called Task Manager I think. Might be a Samsung proprietory app so probably not on the Market
thanks! that's probably the one. is there a link to the samsung apps/widgets? i thought i saw something like that around here, but i can't locate it now.

No idea, I think you'll probably need someone to extract the .apk out of the ROM
well, it turns out the widget is called "Program Monitor" and from what i've found, it's not compatibple with launcherpro. =(
*EDIT*
tried installing the widget (SamsungWidget_ProgramMonitor.apk), and i get "application not installed". oh well.

Yeah, I found it disappeared when I installed LauncherPro, so I just stuck a shortcut to the Task Manager on the home screen
Yeah, the Samsung Widgets like HTC's sense widgets will only work with their respective launchers, and not ADW / LauncherPro etc.
Sucks, cos I wanted to run the task manager widget next to my BatteryLife one

not for the now as the current release doesn't support multitasking for 3rd party apps. that will change with the mango update though...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsSFZYEOAgE
until then, check this out:
Microsoft said that Windows Phone 7 would not need multitasking due to their system of tombstoning applications, which would let you resume applications quickly after you left them.
Unfortunately, this system doesn't work well. But, there are a few applications that are stellar examples of how this works, and how well it truly does work. For example, Hearts, gMsg, Flashcards, and Notes all resume brilliantly. And when you combine this tombstoning with the back button, you can respond to texts or even open another app, and then jump straight back to where you used to be, with nothing lost!
This video proves that if developers program their apps well, we don't really even need multitasking on Windows Phone 7. And heck, doesn't Windows Phone 7 look uber elegant and smooth in the video?!?

Does anyone know a good app paid/free that shuts all running application's down like the feature in go launcher (Picture Attached)... am looking at testing new launchers but i really like this feature

systempanel has a widget that you can add to your homescreen that will end all app processes, but it doesn't show all the info like in your screen shot, it just has a little x, or a stop sign or whatever you choose. but it does work well, i normally advise against task killers, but this one is good to free up a bunch of ram with one touch.

ANDROID BOOSTER,its FREE in android market,BEST APP of its kind, puts all the paid versions to shame

Best one I've used is Advanced Task Killer Pro. It has many great features and can be access via pull down notification menu.
Whenever I need more ram or just fancy freeing it up I use it. I also have it set to kill apps upon screen off.
advance task killer pro or anything like it just free's up foreground space so there's MORE SPACE for background apps to run, hence less memory & less speed,GOOGLE IT FOR URSELF

Thanks lads tried a few of them but still think the first post wins, system panel is clean and does the same job as golauncher which is (WHAT I NEED)
Hi,
I recently installed an app, don't know which one, but I keep getting a notification of "Top Offers", mainly for a battery doubling app. I've deleted the app from the desktop, but can't find it anywhere else.
How do I remove it completely.
Thanks in advance.

Settings > Applications > Manage applications
A good idea is to download Air Push Detector from the market it will tell you which app is giving you the air spam
Thanks to you both...
Found an app in Manage Applications called 'Ad-Serve' which I removed...didn't notice it before because I was looking for "Top Offers".
Installed 'Air Push Detector' and found "SkeeBall 3D" was always active, so uninstalled that.
Thanks again...
Top Offers
I, too have the Top Offers ad problem, however I did not find anything in my applications manager that looked suspicious. Any other guidance as to how to get rid of it?
T-Mobile Samsung Gallaxy SII
Install 'Air Push Detector' from the market. Run it and see what programs are running. Uninstall any that look unfamiliar or look like the culprit.
It worked for me.
Thanks to lufc for the original help.
I have rooted and installed Null, with Nova launcher however i much prefer the touchwiz interface because the watch face i like is full screen.
Anyway, I have google voice search installed and would like to add the app to the favourites list. Is this possible as it doesnt show on on the gear manager on my s3
Thanks

i don't know which watch face are you using, i never had problem with watch faces being full screen.. but if you really like touchwiz (yuck!) best you could probably do is to remake it all using desktop visualizer plugin. that's like 15 minutes top i think.

Its just that there is a small border going all around the clock face, it doesnt go right to the edges.
Im not really clued up on coding or designing, so unless there is a setting to make this happen I'd be pretty clueless
I notice all apps that installed with null show on my gear manager and can be set as a favourite. Anyway I can do this for apps installed myself, like the google search app?

I think they need to be system apps and you need to wipe/reconnect gear before they turn up in gm

Sorry I don't understand... If I wipe my gear that will remove the google search app? How can I then add it as a favourite?

System apps stay on device and don't get wiped (I think you can use something like titanium backup to convert app to a system app or move the apk to /system/app). Then once you wipe your device and reconnect to gear manager, gear manager will add it to list of installed apps. Just click the plus sign to add to favourites

Thanks, I don't feel confident enough to start messing with system apps just yet.
Funny enough, When I installed google search it installed two widgets, google now and google search bar. They appear in gear manager and can be added to the favourites screen. How's this possible.

Right, plucked up the courage to try this and it worked - google remained installed.
Problem is, it is the widgets that show up in the gear manager, not the app. Any ideas?
If anyone has a solution to this problem please please help me.
It's the one thing I want to make this device perfect for my needs. I just cant seem to get the google voice search icon on my favourites.
I've moved the google search app to a ssytem app and it just gives the options in gear manager for the widgets not the app icons.

Have you thought about using an app like gmd gesture control? You could just create a gesture shortcut to it
Notification icon gets deleted everytime I change custom apps in the favourites. Is there a fix?

Seems to be an issue with 1.6 or ml1. Both are leaks, so either wait for official or go back in version
