Downgrade ext4 to ext3? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just partitioned my SD card using Amon's recovery, and I don't know why, but I hit upgrade ext3 to ext4....I don't even know what ext it was to begin with at the moment of partition, so I don't know if that even worked.
How do I find out what version of ext I have?
And I'm using Enomther's 2.12.4, and enabled apps2ext, and rebooted my phone, and it definitely worked.
And assuming that it is ext4, I just found out that apparently ext3 is better than ext4 (I'm not really sure why).
How do I downgrade? Can I simply go into Amon's recovery and hit upgrade from ext2 to ext3? I have a feeling that's too simplistic to work.
Do I have to wipe everything and start from scratch?

im using cyans recovery 1.4 and when you come to the boot screen for it, theres an option for wiping memory. ive had to wipe whenever switching from one rom to the next.
if your using cyanogenmod v1.4 its alt+w to wipe clean.. then wipe your ext with alt+f as well
Problems with new ROM's huh?
Well...it could also possibly be your micro SD card,in which I found out was my problem about a week ago. I found Paragon Partition Manager on the internet. The free version called Partition Manager 9.0 Special Edition. Anyways...used Partition Manager to delete my old FAT32,EXT3,and Linux-Swap partitions and reformatted the entire micro SD then created new EXT3 and Linux-Swap partitions on my SD. Just thought this may be a solution to your problem. Good luck!
I'm not sure alt+f wipes your ext. there are commands you have to type.
to completely wipe your ext2 and ext3 you have to type:
mount /system/
rm -rf /system/sd/
or at least that's what I always used until I upgraded to ext3.

Code:
mke2fs -j /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
that will actually reformat and its less chars

SuperD 1.11 FC on SupSetup.

Each time I open it up it asks me to allow. I click allow and than it gives me a FC. Can anyone help I wanna use Apps2SD!!!
Apps2SD is automatic. Just need that EXT partition. not sure if SuperD requires Ext4 or not.
Re partition your SD card with atleast an EXT3.
It requires EXT3, I was EXT4 before, and FC's galore at every reboot

Unpartitioning SD card in time for Froyo? (solved)

i want to get rid of the ext3 partition that i have been using and use Froyos inbuilt method instead, whats the best way to do this?
i already know how to use gparted to do this, but is it possible to do this using the Amon-RA recovery 1.7.0? if i repartition with a 0mb ext partition, will it remove the ext partition that is currently there?
i have backed up all my stuff, so now im just looking for advice.
Edit: yeah, used the recovery's own partitioning tool, i got the partition removed and the space recovered. working fine so far.

Ext4 a2sd Question

I recently switched to Buffed 2.1.2 which requires an ext4 partition if you want run a2sd. I partitioned my class 6 sdcard to ext4 in the following way.
1.Rebooted into recovery
2.Partitioned sdcard fat32
3. 32mb swap
4. 512mb partition
5. Upgrade ext2 to ext3
6. Then upgrade ext3 to ext4
Now my question is: Is this the correct way to partition to ext4? I'm assuming you need to upgrade specifically in this order? Or can you just skip upgrading from ext2 to ext3 and go right to the last step?
That's right. It's included in the original procedure here:

Q. setting up a2sd using clockwork mod

hi, i've looked everywhere for help and i just can't understand for some reason. so i'm trying to set up DT a2sd on a gingerbread rom that supports it. so i partition my sd card using clockwork mod for 512mb ext partition. then i wipe data using clockwork mode so it wipes everything, but then when i run the rom there is no a2sd partition seen by quick system info and my memory fills up quick. this is after i have flashed a compatible rom and the latest dt a2sd zip. when i look at the sd card on my computer it shows that the ext partition i created is in fact ext4, which i think isn't compatible. so when i manually set the partition to ex3, and run a rom, the apps install onto the ext partition but they force close and i can't open any of them. and when i wipe in clockwork mod, it converts the ext3 to ext4 again. any help?? thanks
