Need to locate a 2d gallery app that works with kaosfroyo and has the share options that work........
Also tried to uninstall the 3D gallery and it would not do so........please help...
Thanks
Aftondroid
Here's a file I had on my computer, don't remember where I found it though:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11355244/DoNotDeleteOnWeb/2D-Gallery.zip
It's a flashable .zip, it uninstalls the 3D Gallery and replaces it with the 2D. Make sure to nandroid first though.
I use an app called just pictures. I does not replace the installed 3d app but runs independant of the system.

The "one click app" is what you used to root your phone I assume, so you don't need that anymore. It's volume down and power, yes. Nandroid is just the name of a backup that can be made of your entire system. When you boot using the vol. down/power you get into the black screen with green text, that's the recovery screen. From there, to backup you select Backup/Restore and then create backup. After that, on the main screen, select the option "Flash zip from sdcard" then after a reboot you should good!

Got it.....did not know about the backup part.......thanks.......should I remove the kaosfroyo zip file before I install the 2d zip file........it's still on my sd root......I'm thinking yes.........once again..thank you....
I'm back.....I looked at my root on my sd.........for some reason.....the froyo zip is gone..........so therefor ......I'm going to flash the 2d zip..............thanks.......
No Problem. You don't need to delete the ROM zip if your flashing something else, but you don't really need it anymore regardless.
Works........less is more I guess when it functions properly...........got one last question...........when I open the gallery it has some duplicate folders.........what's the best way to manage my pics......and video so that there is not two of the same folders........I got camera video1.... Camera media1...... All pictures........all video.....think you got it.........would like to have four max.......thanks.......
Try rebooting again, I think I remember it being slightly buggy one time I installed it. After a reboot, everything was fine and it never happened again. I'd mount my SD card and organize everything from your computer. Make folders and clean everything up, then make sure it stays organized by saving pictures and videos in the right places, moving them as necessary; through your computer or through a file manager (like Astro.)
I figured out that although I have all my media in files in my sd........there is a sd folder in the main root of the phone..........internal..........i think I'll have to see what happens when I play around with folders and where they reside........
You've been awesome......be well my friend............
I know Tazz posted a fixed 3d gallery app in the Kaosfroyo thread. You can also pull the apk for the 2d gallery from the Tazz froyo rom
Sent from my Tazz Froyo using XDA App

go to the above link and download the latest version of this app called SuperOneClick. The newest version should be at the bottom. download the program to your computer. Unzip the file and extract whats inside. Once this is done open the folder where the files have been extracted to and run the application that says SuperOneClick. In there you should click the first button which says ROOT. Let the program run and do its thing.
if you do not get any errors.. restart your phone.. there should be a couple of new apps there.. one being superuser and another being ROM manager. both are very important. you should now be rooted! (basically same as jailbreaking iphone, or unlocking any phone)
If ROM manager isnt there, go into the market and download the free version. once this is downloaded open the application and in there you will see a button (first button up top) that says "flash ClockWorkMOD recovery". If that tells you that the recovery image has been flashed you are good to go!
certain things are going to ask you for superuser permissions.. a black screen will pop up asking for these permissions.. always click yes... and make sure the remember box IS checked that way it will only ask you once not every time you access that program.
SECOND: You should download a ROM of your choice. i chose to go with bugless beast rom. it is awesome. if you want this ROM you can go to this link ( http://www.droidforums.net/forum/bu...bugless-beast-v0-6-2-1-gingerbread-froyo.html ) and click one of the mirrors to download. this file will also be in the form of a zip file download this to your computer BUT DO NOT UNZIP OR OPEN IT. plug in your phone to the computer via the usb cable and when it asks what you want to do click "open to view files". this will give you access to all files on your SD memory card. so now once you have the folder open.. open the folder where you just downloaded the attached file. the name of the file is "frg83dv062.zip" ... once both windows are open, take the zip folder from the download folder copy it to your SD card.
once this is done (should take 30 seconds to a few mins) you can unplug your phone.
Turn the phone off.
wait a couple of seconds... then restart your phone by holding X on the slideout keyboard and the power button at the same time.
This will start you in recovery mode.
in recovery mode you will see a list of options:
reboot now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/ factory reset
wipe cache partition
install zip from sd card
nandroid
partition menu
advance
using the directional pad on the slide out keyboard scroll down to nandroid. it will ask you to create folder just click ok. then click yes. This will back up everything on your phone so that you can always go back to it.
once this finished on the slideout keyboard hit the delete button to go back. Then scroll down to install zip from sd card. this will bring up all files on your sd card. Scroll down until you find the file frg83dvo62.zip. click ok. and it will give you a list with like 10 things that say no n 1 that says yes. click yes. n let it do its thing. once this is done go back and click reboot now. it will take a few mins to load on the reboot because its a total change in looks and framework so let it do its thing.
NEXT: setting up for some optimum speed tweaks.
download a kernel. my kernel i chose to go with is p3droids low voltage 1200 kernel but you can choose any one you want. this can be found here: http://www.p3designs.info/kernels/ .. download this to your computer BUT DO NOT UNZIP OR OPEN IT. again plug in your phone to the computer via the usb cable and when it asks what you want to do click "open to view files". this will give you access to all files on your SD memory card. so now once you have the folder open.. open the folder where you just downloaded the attached file. once both windows are open, take the zip folder from the download folder copy it to your SD card.
once this is done (should take a few seconds) you can unplug your phone.
Turn the phone off.
wait a couple of seconds... then restart your phone by holding X on the slideout keyboard and the power button at the same time.
This will start you in recovery mode.

using the directional pad on the slide out keyboard scroll down to nandroid. it will ask you to create folder just click ok. then click yes. This will back up everything on your phone so that you can always go back to it.
once this finished on the slideout keyboard hit the delete button to go back. Then scroll down to install zip from sd card. this will bring up all files on your sd card. Scroll down until you find the 125-1200-v32kernel.zip file. click ok and then scroll to yes. this will install a new kernel. aka make the phone faster and have better battery life.
restart phone normally.
last thing you really need is a program called setCPU which will change things with the kernel making it either faster or slower. click this link ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419 ) scroll to the bottom of the original post and download the latest versionn.. setCPU v2.10.0.zip.. download it to your computer. open it!.. inside you will find a file that has an ending of .apk. again plug your phone into your computer and open to view files. click the file ending in .apk and drag it to your sd card INTO A FOLDER NAMED downloads. once done unplug and you are good to go. a couple good applications you can use to navigate through your sd card are es file manager or astro file manager both available for free in the market. This will allow you to look through all of you files on your sd card. go into whichever program you prefer and go to the downloads folder. click on the setCPU apk and it will popup saying either browse file or open app manger. click open app manager and then click install.
once this is installed you can set it up like this: it will ask you for superuser permission click yes.
once it is opened it may give you the options to autodetect device. if not hit the menu button on your phone and hit device selection scroll down to autodetect device. it will detect your kernel. You can set the options however you want but i set the options up like this:
max :900000
min:125000
scaling: ondemand
set on boot CHECKED
click profiles: check the box for enable
click add profile
profile: screen off
max: 500
min:125
profile: battery <30%
max: 700
min: 125
profile: temp >40degrees Celsius
max: 500
min: 125
next go to advanced tab
click set on boot box.
sampling rate: 100000
Up threshold: 90
ignore nice load: 0
powersave bias: 0
restart the phone and you should be golden!
Any questions feel free to ask and ill try my best to answer.
Works!
Confirmed working on FRG83G (2.2.2)
However, it was necessary to install motorola drivers first (www.motorola.com/support)
I need to add this post to my favorites. Now that I have finished experimenting on Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini Pro, Motorola Droid is my next "victim."
This is great. This is my first time doing something like this. Been considering it heavily. Now this makes it real easy. Can someone recommend overclock settings for Moto Droid?
Edit: never mind. guess i cant read very well. see his recommended settings. but I guess I would still like to ask what overclock settings everyone else is using. are his good, or should I go higher. Already notice it runs a good amount faster which was my huge complaint about the Droid since the 2.2 update.
Also. had issues installing the custom ROM, just installed the kernel. Read in other places about having to clear data/cache at some point. not exactly sure at which point to do this, could someone help me? because I tried to reboot it after installing it and is just sat loading for at least 15-20 mins before I had to pull the battery. The guide says it takes a few minutes, but I know it doesnt take That long.
Finally getting around to doing this and found out that the clockworkmod isn't available for 2.1 anymore. Anyone got an old .apk that I can install (the new version gives me the parse error)?
sweet thx!!!!
Issue 1: I'm trying to install ClockPackage.apk, Gallery3D.apk, MyFiles.apk in order to have the stock clock. I keep getting the error "Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]" when i try to use the command adb install (any of the 3).apk. I have also tried "adb push" which doesn't seem like a valid command. I tried moving the 3 apk files to my sd card on the phone and using "installer" and "eoeAppinstaller" from the market and these fail as well. Any more suggestions? I really like this di11igaf's ROM, but I cannot stand the new alarm ( i like the gradual volume increase of the stock). I have tried a couple of market clocks, but they just didn't work for me. Thank you very much in advance.
Issue 2: If I use CWM and choose Reboot into Recovery i get the following:
Android system recovery <3e>
Samsung Recovery Utils
- for BML -
Enter OK Key, Select : Vol UP / Vol Down
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
format internal sd card
update media, please wait

Finding update package...

At this point I can use the volume buttons to scroll up and down, but the power button will not select anything. The only thing I can do is remove the battery and boot the phone back up, which then takes me into CWM recovery v2.5.1.0. I was able to install the di11i add on, but I don't think that I'm supposed to be pulling the battery to get to this point.
Thanks again and sorry about the long post.
Im no expert on this type of stuff but I use di11i roms and I just transfer apk's to the root of the phone through the regular mass storage mode and use root explorer for the rest.Havent had any problems yet.
As for issue 2 is the package a .zip file? If not that may or may not be the problem.
From my own personal experience the 3dapp isn't sign so I can't install it too
System apps are best copied manually into the /system/app folder using app like root explorer. Make sure the folder is in r/w mode.

+1 you can simply use root explorer to copy the apk files into \system\app folder. quick and easy.

It is a zip file and it installed. What concerned me was the process. Should it have frozen up like that and forced a battery pull? Nothing I've read leads me to believe that was proper behavior of the CWM.

I don't have that directory. Are you creating it on the phone and then putting the files into it? I may have not been clear on what I am trying to do. I am trying to do what was posted in this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11207089&highlight=clockpackage#post11207089 posts #2515
I just looked into exactly what you were talking about and I got it figured out.It wasnt installing for me either but this is what I did and it works now.
Through mass storage mode I copied the 3 files to the root of the card.
Then I moved the files to the app folder which is inside the system folder.
I use root explorer for the moving.
When you move them into the app folder its gonna ask to overwrite say yes.
After you get everything moved it will work if you go to the app in the drawer.I never actually installed anything but did an overwrite.

u cannot see it in my files. u need to have root access, and something like root explorer.
So it looks like I could have just copied and pasted the files from the sdcard/Clock folder I placed them in to the /system/app folder using Super Manager. I swear I tried that and it failed before I went through all the crappy steps below. Oh well.
Ok this is going to sound pretty cheap, but I didn't want to pay the ~$4.02 for an ap that I was going to use three times. I did find another way. I used Super Manager and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877316&highlight=installing+apk post #3.
So for any other cheapskates out there.
1. Install Super Manager on phone
2. Install ADB on pc
3. Connect phone to pc and copy the three files ClockPackage.apk, Gallery3D.apk, and MyFiles.apk to the sd card. (I just drag and dropped in windows explorer)
4. Use Super Manager to move to /system/app/ and rename the existing file Gallery3D.apk (I renamed it to Gallery3D.old)
5. Use adb to copy the 3 files from the directory in which you originally placed them on the phone to /system/app/
in adb type:
adb shell
su
(accept the prompt on your screen)
cd /sdcard/whereveryoustuckfile
cp blahblahblah.apk /system/app/ (the red from Pirateghost).
6. Reboot
The clock and alarm work fine, but I cannot get Daily briefing option in alarm to work. I get a FC. I did install the "apk add on pack for 5.6" post 3 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897416 , but I dont think Daily Briefing was included in that. Any suggestions? And one last thing - what is the di11iBrowserfix.zip from post 3 of the thread above for? Thanks again to all who contributed.
I got the daily briefing working. Everything is almost perfect, but I would like two things still.
1. Is there anyway to change the tune that is played when you have smart alarm selected? I have a different tone selected, but I think once you select smart alarm it defaults to that new age tone.
2. My alarm goes off, I stop it, but then I have to unlock it before I see the daily briefing. Can anyone think of a way to have the phone unlock when I turn off the alarm. I know it is so insignificant, but it used to do that when it was stock and it was pretty cool.
Come one guys and gals - don't make me figure this one out by myself j/k but seriously I have surprised myself already by getting this far and I really don't have skill or knowledge for the last two things. I'm learning though....slowly.
Thread etiquette
Did I do something wrong here? I got some really quick responses to my questions before, but nothing on my latest. I ask this next question with all seriousness - should I have started a new thread since it's kind of a new topic? No worries either way, I just want to post in the the most effective way. Thanks. BTW, my phone is working great. I'm getting ready to install 6.0 GPS is a little screwy - often has me west of my location by about 30 meters by I attribute that to the phones hardware. Other than that I have no complaints (except for the lame smart alarm tune)

Diablo, I know this totally off topic and I´m sorry, but I´ve just seen your signature and noticed you run di11igaf´s 6.0 on Glitterballs and as I´m not able to post on development yet, here´s my question:
Will I have too much trouble on flashing another kernel over the di11picKle? I was happy with speedmod + jk4... that was the best working config for me so far...
Just keep in mind I´m a noob

you can flash any kernel/modem using CWM, just make sure it is i9000's.

Nope. Get the CWM flashable zip, and copy to ur sdcard. Then go to CWM recovery console, and install this zip. Reboot.
But, please take a nandroid backup, and try to avoid OC kernels if u r unsure ur phone can handle it. Phones freeze when tried to oc beyond their capability.

Hi all,
I have a rooted Rogers Captivate running stock Rogers 2.2 with OCLF. The other day I installed busybox and anim mod, and today I decided to change my transitions with anim mod.
After applying the change, it asked me to restart my phone. I clicked yes, and it hung for a moment before showing a force close screen. However, before I could do anything, it reset, but after the logos and startup animation, it vibrated and went to black. The soft keys still light up, but no buttons including holding down power have any effect.
After pulling out the battery, I discovered I could still get to recovery console (and I'm fairly certain I could get into download mode as well), but my main concern is getting to / backing up my contacts.
Your help would be enormously appreciated!
-Alex
1. Check the files that are present in the theme u installed - typically the files under the system folders
2. Ask ur ROM developer to package these files (from original ROM) into a CWM flashable zip file (assuming u do not know how to do this)
3. Push this to ur phone using adb and install it on ur phone
Next time on, when installing any theme not made 'specifically' for ur ROM, refrain from doing so. In case you are in a mood to experiment, it would recommended to take a nandroid backup in case issues like this come up.
Since u say urs is stock, u could package these files from ur stock zip. For this u'd have to find a Roger's stock zip file, and u should be able to find an empty update.zip to package these files into (attaching template update.zip to this post; open in winrar).
Thank you very much for helping me with this diablo, I really got myself into a mess and I appreciate your help trying to get me out of it.
I'm not running any themes on top of Rogers 2.2, it's pure stock. I don't have CWM on my phone, nor have I used ADB before. Also, I'm not sure where or how I'd get the stock zip, I did download your template but I don't know how to fill it with what I need.
Thanks again,
Alex
Oh, and if you give me a donate button or paypal account, I'd be happy to show my gratitude.

I
Alex, try searching for Rogers stock ROM. U should be able to find it on these forums.
II
Meanwhile, try posting a thread to ask people here who may be on Rogers stock to zip up their /system/framework folder.
Asking for /system/app zip would not be a good idea since it would contain paid apps too. So alternately,
1. Open the theme zip that u put on ur phone
2. Navigate to /system/app folder
3. List down the apps u see there
4. Ask for anyone who's on stock rogers if they can zip up these files for u.
III
Next, considering u have the apps and the contents of /system/framework:
1. Open the file I sent u in 'winrar'
2. Navigate to system/app folder
3. Drop the apps u got from 'whoever-helped-u' into this folder
4. Navigate to system/framework folder
5. Drop the files in system/framework from 'whoever-helped-u' into this folder
6. Close winrar and rename to update.zip
IV
7. Put this file on ur SD card root
8. Boot into recovery
9. Select 'apply update.zip' (not sure of exact wording)
10. Reboot
Also, what is the theme u downloaded?
I put the steps in blocks so it would be easy to trouble shoot in case u run into any issues.
All the best Alex.
[Q] Phone won't get past boot screen, please help
Thank you again, Diablo, lunch is on me today.
I don't have any themes installed, this is the program that created the trouble for me, which I download from the Android Market:
http://www.androidblip.com/android-themes/anim-mod-root-136113.html
I clicked on the "fly in & flip" selection.
I will make a post requesting a stock rogers 2.2 zip of their /system/framework folder.
Is there anything else I'm missing, and once I get the /system/framework get it into the update.zip, how do I get it onto my SD card root, or do I just put it on the root of an external SD card?

I see its a paid app, so can't say whats in it. But since its into animations and stuff, most likely it messed up some files in ur framework folder. Send me the update.zip file after u update so I can cross check before u can flash it on ur phone.
Hi Diablo,
I wrote a new post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997233
Am I asking for the right thing?
Also, on the app page it says "Anim Mod changes the system framework files without touching your theme so if you constantly switch from ROM to ROM you can always get the animation you prefer the best."
Does this make anything simpler?
Thanks again for continuing to help me,
Alex

Yes. It says it changes files. I would NOT recommend any such app that changes framework files with/without knowledge, unless, there is a way backup plan at hand to revert to stock.
I normally take a nandroid backup of my ROM before playing with things like this, so in case things mess up, atleast there is a working copy of ROM.
Secondly, since u said u need contacts, I would recommend the following:
1. Install titanium backup (TiBu in short)
2. Backup "Contacts Storage"
3. Copy this folder "Titanium Backup" from sdcard to a safe location (e.g., ur computer)
This would backup ur contacts. So in case u mess up with something, u can always copy this folder to ur sdcard and restore using TiBu.
U can also backup all user apps and data so u can restore all ur apps and data in these kinds of situations. But do NOT backup or try to restore any system data except the one contacts storage I mentioned above.
Also, be warned, contacts data cannot be moved this way between different versions of ROM like 2.1 and 2.2. But u can move between 2.2 and 2.2.1. I was also able to restore this data on 2.3.3 gingerbread.
Personally, I now use "Sprite Backup" to backup and restore my data.
Thanks for your effort yesterday Diablo. I decided to odin flash the stock rogers 2.1, repartition, and upgraded to 2.2 via kies. I lost my contacts, but couldn't go any longer without the phone. I'm gonna back everything up right now!

Sorry to hear that Alex. This time make sure u backup "Contacts Storage" in Tibu when u r on 2.2.
Else use Sprite Backup or anything similar to help backup.
i have super clean 2.9 and want a bad ass theme but have no clue how to instal it i installed sc 2.9 with odin can u use odin to do this or am i just lost. please help
Just flash your downloaded .zip theme using red cwm (clockwork recovery). Clear cache and dalvik cache through the advanced setting in cwm. Reboot....enjoy your new theme!

you have the modded re CWMR installed correct? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942021
did you apply the SC v2.9.1 patch after flashing SC v2.9? if not go ahead and do that http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983395
download the zip file, when finished used an app like androzip file explorer and go into sd card folder 'download' and move the file you downloaded out of the folder and onto the root menu of your sd card
exit androzip
reboot into recovery in the power options menu
wipe cache and dalvik cache in advanced
choose install from sd card
choose the zip you want to install
choose yes to install zip
when finished just reboot
use vol up and vol down to navigate CWMR and use the camera button to select and menu soft button to go backwards a menu
This is the standard install instructions for patches and themes
Haha no worries. We were all like that at one point in this android modding game. You'll get there soon and you'll be flashing roms, themes, and kernels all the time. Pm me if u need further assistance.
1) download theme
2) apply .zip file to sd card
3) assuming you already have cwm installed.... Power phone off and then power back on holding down the volume rocker and power button and then release
4) scroll down using volume rocker to install .zip from sd card
5) navigate to your downloaded .zip theme that you applyed to your sd and then select it by using the power button
6) select install (yes)
7) go back to the main cwm screen by pressing the search soft key button on your bottom right
8) reboot phone
hope that helps some. I'm typing this from my phone so I hope I got everything correct.
also be aware of what version of cwr you are using...the vast majority of themes use amend scripts whereas cwr 3.0 only can work with edify scripts....you ll need voodoo or older nonvoodoo recovery to flash these
im pretty sure i have clockwork i download and did the steps on this Super Clean version 2.9 - EB01/EB16 Froyo leak root+Froyo Clockworkmodwith MALWARE protectionthats what i got probaly didnt come with flash . i am pretty green at this stuff. lol
Looks like tapout got to it before me. Guess I need to brush up on my swyping skills. Lol. Good tutorial tapout. Well put. I wasnt able to link to any threads cuz im using the app but they are easy to find on here. Good luck and happy themeing!
im try to put nitrodark on my phone i have the nitrodark 3.0 zip on my phone i didnt extact it am i supoosed to. then went into recovery and tred to install . it says e: failed to open/sdcard/update zip no such file. am i puting oit in the wrong place.
No, don't extract the zip file. You need to select the nitrodark.zip file on your SD card before you say Install file. It won't automatically select the file you want for you.

Did you rename the file to update.zip and place it in the root of your sd card? If not, you will nerd to select the option to install from zip and then select the zip where it its located on your sd card.

So if you renamed nitrodark.zip and put it in the root of the sd card like Nitsuj said, choose "apply update.zip" from the main clockwork recovery menu. If you didn't rename and move the zip file, choose "install zip from sd card" and go to the "download" folder, and select your nitrodark.zip file. If you are running the stock browser, the zip file will be there.
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
I do that and it shows a triangle and the android like something is wrong. When I go to install from sd card. Never get to the folders.

How exactly did you manage to install superclean using Odin? I didn't see any Odin file on adrynalyne's superclean thread, and Odin does not let you choose a .zip file from the PDA button.

Right... I need to put a file on my internal SD card..
Can someone please tell me how to access the Internal SD card? Thank you!
Connect your phone via USB then select to connect as an internal storage.
Or if it want Kies go to options, and chnge setting there.
If you are not rooted, open My Files or Astro and you are in the internal SD card. Drop the file in a folder if you need to or just loose.
If you are rooted, open Root Explorer and open the sdcard directory. Then do the same as above

Lol, ok first off go to settings/wireless and network/usb settings and select mass storage. Then on your PC go to my computer, connect the phone via USB, on your phone you'll see a green android and a button under it that says "Connect storage to PC", tap it and the android turns orange, you're now connected. Open up the phone's internal SD in "my computer" when it's displayed.
Copy your file to the phone and when your done tap the "Disconnect storage from PC" button, the android will turn green again, hit the back button on your phone and unplug from your PC. All done.
Okay - But I need to put an update.zip file onto my phone. Which folder does it go into?

In the internal SD root directory. That is not in a sub folder...just in /sdcard.

Just put it into the SD card as is, don't open any folders, if you have file extensions set to hidden on your PC it should just be "update", if there are files on your PC with extensions, such as .exe or .jpeg etc then it will be called "update.zip", the same applies to when it's on your SD, it should only end in .zip if everything else has an extension too.
What are you planning to flash? And do you know how to do it?
It helps if you give people an idea of what you're trying to do when you ask for assistance.

I'm really sorry for not being specific.
Basically, I'm waiting for my phone which should be back tomorrow, so I can flash this theme:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037176
Marcus gave me a link to ROMKitchen and I cooked up my own rom!
I read the instructions, telling me to flash stock JVB which I have downloaded, a custom kernel which I have also downloaded and I have received instructions from Marcus telling me to install the theme via clockworkmod.
I'd really, really appreciate me if you gave me a step by step guide on how to install it

You want to know how to flash the theme with CWM right?
Ok, do you know how to get into recovery mode?
Hold Volume up + Home + Power button all at the same time, as soon as the black and white Samsung screen appears let go of the Power button while still holding Volume up + Home. Keep holding until recovery screen appears.
See the pic attached.
Use the Volume buttons to scroll up and down through the available options, and the Power button to select the one you want.
First thing you want to do is select the Backup and Restore option.
Make a Backup before you go any further.
Once the Backup is complete scroll to Install zip from sdcard, press the power button, you will be asked if you are sure you want to Install the update, scroll down a bit to confirm that you want to install and press the Power button again. The update will begin installing, once it's done you'll need to choose the reboot option, do so by using the Power button.
Your theme should now be installed.
I read through some of the thread in the link you posted, seems like some people had problems with it, so if your phone starts acting funny ask Marcus or some of the guys who had issues and resolved them, they will be in a much better position to guide you step by step if it causes problems.
Best thing you could do is to read up on flashing, roms, and kernels before trying them, there's a wealth of info already posted here, patience and research are better than a bricked phone.
Hope that helps and good luck
