Ive noticed theres a grey line thru the photos when I assign a photo to a contact. Likes like the upper half of the photo has a glare. Is there a way to remove this so the photo looks normal? Thanks.
any ideas?
Bump. I'm still having this issue.

I have a question about choosing your own backgrounds for the Today screen. I searched the board, but couldn't find a suitable answer. Hopefully someone will help.
The phone is a T-Mobile Wing (WM6) for reference.
In the "Today" settings, you can check the little box for "Use this picture as the background". No matter what built-in theme I use, no matter what picture I choose, the image displayed on the home screen is washed out. The default images associated with a particular theme are bright and vibrant. But any other picture chosen looks dull and ugly.
What is the reason for this? Any way to correct this behavior?
Thanks,
TimmyZ
Apparently, this is normal behavior. to get around it,go to Programs and open Pictures and Videos. Now navigate to the picture that you want to use as your background. Click and hold on the thumbnail with your stylus until the menu pops up, and then select Set as Today Background. The next screen will let you set the transparency level of the image.
you may have to mess around with the values a little to get what you want.
Good Luck!
Many thanks!
I never would have guess that was the answer.
I had the same question too, I will add this to the FAQ
I'm not sure where I saw that, originally. I'd like to take credit, but I am sure I saw it either here or over at Howard Forums.
It's not exactly intuitive, though, is it?
If only there was a way to use different pictures in landscape/portrait mode... that would be kinda cool
you know i have been wondering about this too for a while. The transparency setting doesn't help me though. I wish it did. For some reason the pictures i select for the background always have a some sort of default zoom so the whole picture is not visible. I tried different sizes of the same picture but it didn't really help. Windows mobile should have a setting for the background picture for tile, stretch, and center like regular windows does. that might solve the problem i am having.
To stop the picture zooming go to nonags.com and search for a program called PIXresizer. Get the picture you want and adjust it to sixe 240*320. it will fit perfectly!
hey man thanks i was wondering how to do that. i thought there was no way to change it!
Not a Problem
Would anyone be able to tell me how I would go about making my own today screen from my own pics pls?
Find pic on internet or Create Pic with Photoshop or something
Size the image to 240x320 using software like photoshop
Transfer image to your Phone by way of ActiveSync
Go to Start>Programs
Click on "Pictures & Videos" icon
Navigate to where the pic is on your phone and open it to view it
Click on Menu>Set as Today Background
I think it then asks you to specify the transparency. By default its set at like 50 so your image will be grey and washed out so change the transparency. I cant remember if 0 is completely transparent or 100 is, you will have to test.
Viola! The image is now on your today screen.
hi, I can already do that but the top but the picture only fills out the majority of the screen. There is a top bar (going across where the "start" is) and a bottom bar (going from "calendar" to "contacts") that remains a different colour. I have it set to windows mobile green, so whatever pic I put in, the top and bottom bars are still green! If I change it to guava, then it goes red.
How can I have my pic fill out the entire screen and not have any top or bottom bars left there?

Hi, you can use VJToggle for reducing or masking the top and bottom bars. Also, dcinobar works well if you want to get rid of only the bottom bar...
Ive set a custom wallpaper but it appear to have somekind of transparacy on it.. is there anyway to remove that?
thanks

Are you setting a picture as your wall paper? if this is the case try this out:
- Go to pictures and video from start menu (if you have it placed there or your could just browse thru your phone and locate the "picture and video icon")
- once you have selected the picture you want to use as your wall paper click on the menu icon on the lower right hand side of the screen.
- it says there "Set as Today's Background"
- once you do that it would have a small box (sort of a magnifying glass) that would show what part of the picture could appear on your screen.
- underneath it would be the transparency level of the picture. I usually use 10% but this would depend how transparent you want the picture to be.
- Voila... your picture is not that transparent any more...
I found this out when i was doddling with my phone...
Hope this helped you out.
I have been searching for two days for a Photo Viewer app for Android 1.6 that has kinetic scrolling for albums.
Astro file manager has a built-in photo viewer that has a thumbnail ribbon at the bottom that works with kinetic scrolling action. And that is way cool, but I want to be able to scroll the full-size photos as well.
I think a couple of years ago the first-gen iPhones had this feature in their album viewer, may be wrong about that.
I have a G-1 and a MT3G that I would like to be able to view albums with a feature like this.
Would appreciate if anyone could point me in the right directions.
Has anyone seen anything like this? I found a version of HTCLay CSDI I think that has a cube that opens the gallery in a sort of kinetic preview, and it's the closest I've found so far. But it's not fullscreen.
Can someone help me out with this? Maybe mention if I'm on the right track, or if I need to be looking for something completely different?
One of the guys at work was showing off pictures on a larger device with gorgeous kinetic scrolling. I had severe envy yesterday.
What photo viewer app are you using?
Never really felt the need for anything like this. By "Kinetic" & "ribbon" you mean it shows them side-by-side at the bottom? I use Astro, and I love the photo viewer in it, but when I'm just looking at pictures, Gallery always does the job for me.

Astro has the ribbon at the bottom. 'Kinetic' is a term to describe the scrolling effect that you swipe across a field with your finger and it moves, and keeps on moving depending on how hard you swiped.
If you open a picture in a folder with multiple images with Astro, you can see the contents of the folder in the ribbon at the bottom of the current picture. If you don't see the ribbon, just touch at the bottom of the screen and it appears. Swipe on the ribbon and it will move with the 'Kinetic' effect.
It moves faster and for a longer time depending on how hard you swiped it. This allows you to move through the contents of a folder rapidly, which is especially useful for large folders.
Astro does allow you to swipe the actual full-screen image as well, but not 'Kineticly'. No matter how hard you swipe, the image just moves one at a time.
I'm looking for an application that allows Kineticly swiping the full screen image to move throught the pictures rapidly.

OHHHH! I see what you're saying now.
No idea. I think most Eclair ROMs do this in the default gallery, but I'm not sure. Other than that I wouldn't know anything, sorry.
Flashed CM5 test 3. NICE Gallery in there.
Kinetic album thumbnails, Nice swiping on the fullscreen photos.
I'm happy now.
search photo slide in the market
can anybody help me figure out how to turn off the zoom when clicking on a link, its extremely annoying especially when clicking in the text field it hides my text that I try to type... Ive searched everywhere but cant find anything... :-/
Not sure I understand problem.
What browser do you use? In Chrome it is double tap to zoom. I can't reproduce your problem on mine. I know there is an accessibility setting that triple tap to magnify is controlled by, when in use frames the window in a yellow box. Sorry could not help more.

When your screen window is small, it checks to see if you were clicking on the right link. You can avoid this by stretching out the window with two fingers, it creates a greater distance between tight links.

Is it the whole page zooming or is it like a smaller window that zooms in too? If that window is coming up then there are two links, text fields etc nearby to each other and the device can't tel which one you are trying to get to. Just touch the one you want in that zoomed window then.
