I'm wondering the same thing, I asked in the thread discussing the ROM as well as several other people, but it's the one question that has not been answered once, let alone 700 times
I don't think it works, but I think we're more likely to be able to get this from the i9k rom to put in to JI6 than we were to put it into one of the Eclair ROMs. That's just my 2 cents, but i'm no coder.

[Q] Anyone try JM7 (i9000 eclair) yet?

JM7 is the latest Eclair build for the Galaxy S (not the captivate)
Wondering if BT works and if Sync Schedule for Exchange is there - the biggest things wrong with previous i9000 builds.
Thanks for any info.

bluetooth will most likely not be functional with a captivate kernel since it's the kernel that controls that, the ROM just chooses how to interface with it. since they weren't designed to be used together, they probably won't "just work" together without heavy kernel modifications.
as for exchange, couldn't tell you (don't have any exchange accounts)

The Froyo build is working with BT. And the BT chip should be the same between devices, so I am not convinced BT won't work.

They also use the same wireless radios yet the fmradio app doesn't work even with the i9000 kernel. We also have the same gravity sensor/accelerometer, yet that doesn't work properly either. It's more than just kernel. It's a combination of the rom, the kernel, and hardware access. Considering these are issues specific to running software not designed to work with the captivate, they will likely never be fixed by samsung so a new rom won't make them magically work.
As for bluetooth working on froyo, it works in eclair too for pairing, just isn't fully functional with audio

OK, let me clarify as i am hoping for experiences not speculation -
BT audio for phone calls works fine in Froyo with a captivate kernel according to reports but not in previous Eclair builds - has anyone tried BT audio in JM7?

I would love to know where you say someone said "BT audio works fine in froyo with a captivate kernel."
we have no captivate kernel compatible with froyo. when you flash a froyo build, you're using the i9000 kernel because there are no captivate ROMs available yet. if you try using the eclair captivate kernel in the froyo i9000 ROM, your phone will not even boot (have to fix through download mode)

My typo -I know the kernel is specific to the version. - i have not tried a Froyo build yet - but the fact is Froyo BT works for audio as reported in other threads. So it is not unthinkable that Jm7 could have working BT Audio on our Captivate.
Again, all i am asking for is if someone has any first hand knowledge, not speculation. I know what the older versions have as I have tried those - just tired of flashing ROMs for now.

Flashed Tayutama Edition v1.0.0 for captive.. results

Froyo based rom, has the standard issues. Home and back reversed, volume keys reversed, radio does not work. Will not connect to data. (I am going to flash radio tomorrow, will post results) wifi works, bluetooth works, gps appears to work, speaker works, have not tried headphones yet.

Have not tried the i9000 version yet. Will tomorrow as well. Flashing back to vibrant stock now, recovery flash didn't work. Had an SD card error when entering recovery mode.
EDIT: When I said radio does not work, I meant data. it's late. It did work, It would show a signal just no data, could not make a call. When doing a network scan, only found AT&T
I have flashed back to bionix, I need a working phone tomorrow. I am going to re-flash this tomorrow for further testing. I do not recommend anyone flash this. If I can get a working radio, i'll update here.
shouldnt all the captivate roms flashed on the vibrant have the same standard issues?

Yes.....
but I've said enough.
If people want to flash ROMs that are useless that's up to them...
seems like another pointless thread, that should be put in General, not really useful to anyone
Why dont u ask the devs 4 idea on how to work this out!! Then this would be a valid thread for development! With that said keep up your work eberyone has a right to post just in the right place.
Peace Out!

I would like to point out that the Captivate rom from tautama isn't a captivate rom at all, but an I9000 rom with an I9000 kernel that the source code that was online a few days ago was used to fix the issues of running an I9000 kernel on a captivate.
lol people keep doing this giving moons an idea that they should too, lol thing is most people here can't even flash a vibrant rom. Hahaha

Latest Cognition with Bluetoof

What is the latest version of Cognition with reliable Bluetooth support?
Thanks
Not the place for this. Try asking in the cognition topic or the q&a section.
Edit: Thanks mods! (it was moved already, razor)
Sent from my Samsung Captivate.
Current rom: Cognition 2.2b7
this is the Q&A section, I need an answer too.

Sorry for posting in the Dev section earlier.
Anyone?
I am using beta 7 and I have the option to enable bluetooth, as well as bluetooth settings. It seems to work when I enable it, however I have no actual bluetooth devices to test on at the moment. As far as I know, bluetooth is usually working in cognition unless there is a bug; however, as far as bluetooth voice commands I've seen a few threads saying they don't currently work.
Sorry, wish I could help you out more.
Thanks Lee
Doesn't anyone use Bluetooth these days?
I would think the Cognition wizards would answer this simple question.
Help please!
If it works in the leaked 2.2, I don't see why it wouldn't work in any of the Cognition 2.2 versions. I have a stock 2.2 install and use my bluetooth to sync with my headset and my car. Both work just fine.

[Q] poor voice quality on certain roms

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10882057&postcount=1751
I have tried Perception and Cognition. I have tried all combinations of kernals and modems but no matter what I do I get very bad voice problems (dropped words, static etc.) when I use my cappy as a phone. Could the problem be in the phone itself, and if not, does anybody have any suggestions.

I wanted to reply to this post but I couldn't because I dont have enough posts to comment in the development forum, so I appologize if this is in the wrong location.
Just wanted to say that I'm experiencing the same issue as richsale with Cognition. Friends were complaining that my voice was very staticy and unclear.
I flashed back to stock using Odin and everything sounds normal now. So it seems like this is not a hardware issue.
Has anyone faced similar issues with some roms?
Thanks
Most likely its a modem issue - see the modem thread in dev section..

Try using a ROM that has JK4 modem.

Thanks
So I reflashed Congnition 3.04 and it's working now.. Before I was running it with GB's kernal, dont know what modem. That may have been the culprate.
I have Baseband I896UXJL1 right now
IIRC, Cognition is based on stock Captivate, while GB is a reoriented I9000 kernel. To run it, you'll need to replace the stock modem with an I9000 equivalent (JK4/JL2/JL3/KP1 all have ardent supporters), otherwise you'll run into voice problems. I believe it has to do with hardware vs. software noise cancellation on the two devices.

So as long as my kernel and modem match I should be ok?
I'd like to flash a faster kernel on top of cognition. Perhaps SpeedMod or GB.

for starts there is no GB 2.3.4 stock roms out . they are LEAKS and therefore may have more bugs than a bait store .. that being said yea you might want to reflash and do a factory wipe ...
Ok it was the leaked ROM. I will change ROMS then thanks guys

mine wrks perfectly fine
If you go into Bluetooth settings does it show phone and media audio for the device? When I first pair devices with the GB roms I have to manually enable the media audio, though the phone audio automatically is selected.
