I wasn't sure where to put this so I thought the themes area would be ideal. I really want to try and make my own theme. I'm not sure though where all the image files are that need to be/should be edited are. So I was wondering if there was a list somewhere that would have the info as to what images are in what apks. Please and thanks ;D

So I was trying to mess around with the look of WM6 on my Wing but I have not had much luck. How do I change up the colors of my interface without having to download someone elses ROM and flashing my phone? I alright with they way everything is set up but I'd like to customize icons and change the blue theme. Where do I start? Is there a certain directory that I should edit images from?
Just download themes for WM. they are .tsk files. To change your theme direct to Start->Settings->Today. If you want something a little more customized than that check out something like WisBar and WisBar Desktop or similar program.
I know I can download other ppls theme but how do I start making my own?

Sweet! Thanks!
Does anybody know where I can find the the XML that controls the BootScreen animation? I would like to convert back to the original glow image for a custom boot image.
Any and input on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
if it is for a hero rom i do not know where the files are, but in the cupcake builds the boot screen is located in /system/framework/framework-res.apk/assets/images/android-logo-shine.png. i do not know if there is a .xml file that controls it since all the posts and threads i have read regarding changing the animation revolve around the android-logo-mask.png and android-logo-shine.png files. sorry if this is not what you are looking for, but i figured i would share my little knowledge on the subject to see if it could at least going in the right direction.
off topic sorry
is this for the zelda theme you are working on? so far the direction i see the theme going in, it is going to look amazing. keep up the great work

Hey man i actually was about to jump into the same thing for this since eugene left.
I really don't know much but a few tutorials that i bookmarked and kinda got the basics.
I do know that one of the guys used an old blueberry theme from his old Hero3g Uni ROM(dont know if you were following him since then) but it did change the wood theme to blueberry without touching the icons which i think would be a good "Blank Theme" to start off with.
I am going to look for the file now.
Blinker1683, Most of the G1 instructions will work just fine with the Sapphire aswell, any specific part you need help with to get started?
Yes how can i get the empty theme to edit, do i use the files that are inside the specific ROM that i want to edit, or is there a stock theme i can download that would work .
Thanks for replying and i need the information please
i am ready to get started as soon as possible
templates
I believe you are speaking of getting a template based off a specific rom to edit the pngs and such. You can just use the dream tutorials on creating a theme, with the actual update.zip you used to flash the rom. All of the files necessessary are included in the update.zip. I believe you can also cut out all the crap u dont need, but im not sure the exact/safe process to do so.
blinker, yes you can use files inside a specific rom file or if you are making it for the cyanogenmod roms then i believe in his posts he also includes a template for themers.
i need help i cant find a starting place i would like to make some metamorph themes. would anyone like to help me learn the ropes. i would really appreciate it!!!
Try reading through the first post in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591329
It explains the basics and includes youtube tutorials. Basically, you need to create a very simple XML file that tells Metamorph which files to change. You need to package up the new files in the right folder structure. Try unzipping a metamorph theme and look around. Use that as a template.
Ok thanks for the tip
Sent from my nonsensikal froyo using XDA App
I'm sorry if this question had been asked already, but I've been googling for 2 days and I'm going crazy...
I found tutorials such as this one, but I don't have a statusbar_background.png file in the drawable folder, in there I only have status_bar_background.hml. I have statusbar_background.9.png in the drawable-mdpi folder where the other requested files are also located, but I'm reluctant to use it since I don't exactly know whats the difference between .png and .9.png. Another tutorial , besides statusbar_background.png, also asks for classes.dex, extracted from services.jar, and I don't have this one either. I guess it's a Froyo thing all these little differences, but I don't want to improvise, so can anyone, please, help out with a tutorial or suggestions on how to edit the status bar for this built?
All useful help much appreciated! Thanks!
P.s. I'm uploading the framework-res.apk, extracted from my phone, in case someone needs to see what it consists of and how things are organized inside.
Do I have to deodex? If so, how?
Anybody?
