[Q] Does JM8 have snooze on Smart Alarm? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just went back to JM1 stock after playing with JPH so I am now all stocked and official.
However I was dissapointed to discover that in JM1 there is no snooze option for the Smart Alarm mode. JPH had this (on the gentle "sunshine" screen in JPH there was a slide-to-switch off and a slide-to-snooze).
I want to stick with 2.1 for now so can anyone running JM8 tell me if the Smart Alarm has a snooze button/slider?
Thanks
Mark.

I don't think so but can I recommend "gentle alarm" from market? Best alarm app EVER

Thanks. I will try it.
Call me wierd but I do like to use stock features of a phone where possible. I only tried the Smart Alarm first time after flashing JPH and I loved it. I didn't have any problems with reliability or anything. But can't use it now on JM1 without the snooze on Smart Alarm (I'll never get up!).
I will use Gentle Alarm and when official Froyo is released I will decide wheter to switch back to the stock Smart Alarm.
BTW: Any comments on if Gentle Alarm drains much more battery overnight than the stock alarm?
Mark.

Not sure, but could you add maybe multiple smart alarms, say 10 minutes apart? that way, the first time, you switch it off, it will come back as alarm 2, and then 3 etc.
Would work fine if you wake up at the same time every day, but if it changes, then you would have to configure 2-5 alarms every time, which would get annoying.

This should be moved to Q & A, is not related to development at all.

Ahh, yes, good point. My brain was in "I just changed from a beta ROM" mode becasue it was about a feature in Froyo so that's why I put it here. Sorry.

Personally i dont see a point why we need smart alarm, a alarm that alert before another alarm? Just simple make the default alarm properly with slow ramp of the sound volume will do!

[req] alarm clock with g-sensor

I have an idea for a app that would use G-Sensor... Alarm clock to replace the "not so good to use wm6.1 one"
It could turn off the alarm when shaking the phone... Tilting your phone face down would give you pre configured amount of extra time after alarm...
Also fullscreen buttons for deactivation and snooze would be nice... The stylus tends to be really crappy to use in the mornings.
Mp3 support...
Could easily pay 20EUR for a working software like this...
When people wake up in the morning they are usually very tired. I can easily see people losing grip on the phone while shaking it to silence the alarm. The consequences might be hard.
Nice Idea, sounds logical and doable I hope a serious developers picks up the idea. A nice finger friendly way of setting would be great as well. You should probably put a link to this thread in the G sensor apps sticky.
think it is a great idea !
yeah there was some mention of this in the Schap's 5.00 ROM development page, but yeah if someone could make a stand alone program which uses the G-sensor, or at least big finger friendly buttons to turn it off, that would b gr8

YES to that !!!
Also, it would be nice if the alarm notice on the Today screen, will show not only the time of the next alarm, but also the amount of hours left for the next alarm (like in SPB Mobile Shell).
This is a great idea! The alarm on my phone really pissed me off this morning (you have to dig through the task bar to get to it, menu item to snooze, blah!). I'll have it done sometime later today or early tomorrow!
Doh - Koush was faster...
i also like this idea!
Yep - Very good idea!!

Actually I've already implemented this function in my user interface. It stops alarm, but I could also add an option to delay alarm, that's a good idea!
Schaps, you're just the MASTER of Rom Cooking.....
Yeah - great idea...
Easy alarm setup from somewhere within the touchflo interface would be great.
There should be an option if shaking kills the alarm or just acts like a "snooze" function which delays the alarm by 10 min...
We need that
alarm
Is this out yet? would be awesome! looking forward to this!!
Hi all, I finished the alarm program as promised (I'm calling it Klaxon). I'm working on making the application look pretty now, sadly I'm not very artistic. If anyone wants to donate some bitmaps that I can use as the buttons, that would be awesome!
I'll provide a link to the CAB shortly.
Features:
Unlimited number of alarms.
You can customize the alarm in the following ways:
-Alarm sound file (MP3, WAV, WMV)
-Snooze Time
-Expire Time (so it doesn't go on forever)
-Days of the week to use the alarm
-Time of day to go off (obviously)
-Enable/Disable
-Flip the phone over from any orientation to "snooze" it.
-I'm thinking about putting a shake functionality to turn it off, but sleepy people may destroy their phones!
-Big finger friendly buttons.
Let me know if you guys have any more suggestions!
Sounds great Koush! I look forward to help beta-test the alarm program!

Koush,
Once you set the alarm to wake you at a certain hour, is it possible to see on the "Today" screen, not only the time that the alarm suppose to start, but also the amount of hours that are left until the alarm will start ?
For example, if the time now is 11:00pm, and you set the alarm for 7:00am, then on the Today screen it will show: "7:00am (8 hours from now)".
Koush,
Another suggestion: is it possible for you to add an option that once you set an alarm, the device will switch to Silent Profile, and once the alarm goes off and you deactivate it, the sound profile gets back to what it was before ?
Everytime I set the alarm at night, I also need to switch the profile to Silent, so no one will wake me up while I sleep. When I get up in the morning, I need to set the sound profile back to normal. It would be nice if your alarm could save the hassle.
Hi Koush, fast work, how about turn the phone over twice, or over and back, to kill the alarm, once to snooze? Looking forward to your cab. Thanks
Excellent Idea
Wait fro the CAB

[APP]Klaxon - G-Sensor enabled Alarm Clock

This is your standard Alarm Clock with some new features!
Flip your phone over to snooze the alarm.
Customize your snooze time.
Wake up to songs on your SD card.
Version 1, and this is XDA-Devs so I'm counting you guys to give me constructive criticism and report bugs.
www.koushikdutta.com
Grab it off the Market!
This should work on top of the pattern password. When the alarm goes off it needs to pop up on top of everything on the phone.
It looks exactly like the Alarm that comes on the phone and I kinda dont like that since I want to be able to distinguish the 2.
tnx great start

Klaxon can use your phone's accelerometer:
Flip your phone over to snooze the alarm.
Shake your phone to turn off the alarm.
In addition, you can now pick a song off your SD card to use as your alarm sound!

Incidentally I originally created this application for the HTC Touch Diamond, and it was a huge hit... 60000+ downloads.

I think its a good idea, but I can't get the shake to turn off the alarm to work? The snoozing part works good though. Any suggestions? (I also commented this in the market)

Try "long" shakes as opposed to "short" or "quick" shakes. The accelerometers are right next to the speakers, and are very sensitive... while developing this, I found the alarm sound itself would make the accelerometer think it is being shaken. The only way I could fix this was by responding to only certain types of shakes.
Hahaha, the default alarm is not something to be used in a very quiet office environment. I about pee'd myself.
Hey, first off pretty good app and its useful..
i know it might be taking a chunk of your time..but how bout some options like "join the dots" maze or something like that for us heavy sleepers
something like the g-alarm...if you know what i mean...
It doesn't seem to work all the time. Sometimes I shake and it works other times it doesn't work, cool app though! This should be posted in apps thread.
is there anyway to set a default snooze time and a default alarm sound... or u have to set that up with each new alarm that u create....?
The flipover for snooze is really cool. I shook the phone like a crying baby and it would still not turn the alarm off.
How hard and with what intensity does one have to shake the phone to silence the alarm?
BTW: Default alarm made me think the fire suppression system was going off in the data center next to my office.
Unfortunately I had to remove the shake to turn off feature: it's too hard to distinguish between when someone is shaking the phone and when the phone is just vibrating because music is playing.
In fact, there used to be a bug where the alarm would turn off because the music "shook" the phone. Sometimes it would register readings of up to 2.5Gs... which is a lot.
The Diamond didn't have this problem; I am guessing this is because the accelerometer location is probably closer to the speaker on the G1 than it was on the Diamond.
I added customizable snooze this last version too.
The flipover for snooze is plenty enough for me. Definitely a fun and very functional app. Doesn't always like to snooze if its on a soft surface I noticed. I stuck it between two pillows and reached in and flipped it over... took a couple flips to get it to recognize the flip. Works perfect on any hard surface like a desk or countertop.
what about this for an idea: when you pick up the phone upright, it acknoweldges the alarm- when it's flipped over, it snoozes?

Do you have link to the old version with shake?
Does anyone have the Klaxon apk?
I don't see it on the market anymore and I would love to install it.
Thanks.
Here is free version
Just what I wanted! Thanks a lot.
I got my G1 today and I'm going app-crazy at the moment. I love it!
Edit -- NM
Yeah I tried searching for it in the marketplace last night and it wasn't there. Searched again this morning and it is back though.

Wake up clock

Hi,
I'm looking for a decent "wake up clock" for Raphael. I used to use Bob's Alarm on my PalmOS Treo, but since I switched to WiMo I can't find a decent replacement.
It needs to have big buttons, snooze option (one-touch preferably), couple of sounds and a scheduled 2-3 alarm modes.

Hi:
I don't yet have my Raphael/Fuze, but the 2 alarms I have seen (that seem Raphael specific, they even have G-sensor functions built in) while browsing the forums are Klaxon and G-alarm. They both seem pretty cool.
Hope this helps
I use this

Try Galarm, I love it, you can set it up to use the gsensor to do a maze to wake your ass up, there is a snooze and variables that you can set. I find it hard to wake up using normal alarm clocks, this one makes it damn near impossible to not wake up with!

hahaha love this program but it's way too easy to flip it over to snooze
+1
SpB Time. Lots of functions but I use it for my alarm and some timers. Alarm is great, any sound or sound file (plus vibrate/sscending options), full screen alert with large touch snooze/off as well as the smaller menu buttons which let you choose the next snooze time up to an hour off.
Stop watch can always be useful but I like the 6 easy to set countdown timers. I have them preconfigured for stuff like the washing machine or standard parking meter.
I use the plugin on my homescreen so it's all very accessible including enabling/disabling and editing alarms without going into the program proper.
Check it out.
I currently use G-alarm, it's okey but not perfect.
The thing that annoys me the most is that it have to turn on the phone at midnight to avoid troubles with the windows alarm. I also find that the use of the G-sensor is not needed. The maze had to be solved before you could even use the snooze function.
SPB Time. I've used it for around 2 years now and it has yet to let me down

about the process of alarm clock?hope to find the answer~

using cm 4.15.1 rom,i found that the alarm clock often auto close after a program run or desktop crash.
i opened taskmanager and found there's no process of alarm clock, but the next morning it sound amazing.
by the way,i also tested another state, after set a nearly time to alarm,i killed its process with taskmanager, then never happened at the time.if i didn't kill,it's normal.
so who can tell me the reason?will the process of alarm clock be hidden sometime?or something can wake up its process?
PS:i used apptosd,maybe this affect?
thx for your answer. my english is poor...

[app] Clever Alarm

Clever Alarm is one of the most advanced alarms for WP7. You will never oversleep!
The app has Metro style, it´s very easy to use and still free! Clever Alarm has several
types of alarm (Math, Shaking, Sorting,...) or you can choose "Nap". You can use Clever
Alarm like a bedside alarm clock. You can select your own music from the library.
Clever Alarm also runs under lock screen or you can disable the auto lock screen feature.
You can also change the color of the clock (the clock can be either analog or digital).
Clever Alarm dims the screen automatically, shows date, supports the snooze function,
supports 12/24 hours format and much more. Try it now!
The next version will bring monitoring sleep cycles and much more.

I like the math idea, I think it's a great way to ensure that the user wakes up. Just installed.
Thanks for you reply. After your testing the app, please write your comments, suggestions, problems (etc.) with the app.
Hacked!
I just minimized app and silent. Nice design, good functions, but this is bad. When I wake up, then I want sleep and don't think about the calculation.
Maybe you will need add alarm on background? but it is contrary to Marketplace the conditions, I think.
Check my app:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127159
I don´t understand this sentece: "When I wake up, then I want sleep and don't think about the calculation" ...what you mean? can you write some your notes, comments,... for the app? thx
Ok, I will try
With your App:
Alarm!!!
I wake up;
Just click one key: Back, Start or Search;
Alarm is stoping;
I continue to sleep.
Your app is hacked just with one key click.
With my App:
Alarm!!!
I wake up;
Just click one key: Back, Start or Search;
Is't working - alarm still playing; (alarm is working on original music player);
I try click virtuals: stop, pause, backward, forward buttons - ALARM STILL PLAYING!
I need type code: 4815162342
I just typed true code:
Alarm is stoping. I wake up and go to in the shower or Just continue to sleep.
Hm... I'm just hacked my app self - click volume down to 0 (minimum) and alarm volume is very low. I NEED FIX IT!
I understand, but it´s again marketplace conditions... have you another tips for the app? what do you like in alarm?
I like it
Sent from my Samsung Focus S using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
i had some problems with the app, it drained my battery over night from 100% to zero, my phone was from midnight 100% to 9:00 at 0% and off. i set my alarm on this app and the digital clock appeared i locked the phone, and go to sleep, wake up with no battery, nothing. the phone was fully drained. i then charged my battery and tested again, and the same thing, from 12:00 till 15:00h my battery was drained, under lockscreen. that is not how it gonna to be or? my opinion is when you in lockscreen the app should have something like standby, and battery saving feature, and not battery drain. i then uninstalled the app and my battery lasts over 48hours. the app has a good concept, but i would like to have some times set, like on the integrated app of wp7, and just to activate them by one tap. and to have multiple alarms memorized there somewhere...
hi,
thx for your reply...next week I will work on this app and I will try solve this problem with consuming a lot of battery... And have you another tips what you want in next version?
Great app, thanks

just the one tip to have multiple times set. like in the integrated alarm of wp7. if you set an alarm that then will be stored on some other screen where all alarms clock have been set. or maybe 20. than just a button like on the integrated to activate that alarm which you want... so that you don't type every time the same time... just look at the integrated alarm clock with its times...
Excellent thread
