[Q] File system location of bookmarks - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
does anyone know where on the Galaxy the internet bookmarks are stored for the standard browser?
The reason I am asking is because I upgraded my ROM after doing a Titanium backup as well as copying the whole of my internal and external sd cards.
Now I want to put the bookmarks back on but cant find them on the sd cards and Titanium Backup wont restore them.

anyone????

it'll probably be on sqlite not file system
sqlite = db

Awesome thanks!
now I guess the next question would be - Can we View/Edit/Export SQLite so that I can copy the bookmarks off or at least see the URL's?

[Q] Directory for apps stored on SD Card

I am about to undertake the task of factory restoring my Moto Droid (for reasons I won't bore you with). I'm rooted, and have Rom Manager for Nandroid backups (so I flashed a new recovery), but other than that I'm running stock.
I don't want to redownload all of my apps, so I want to copy them over to my PC and push them back to the phone later using adb. My issue is, I cannot find the apps I have moved to the SD card. What is their file pathway?
I've used Astro and Terminal Emulater (with the ls command) to try to find the pathway, but I'm at a complete loss.
Before you say anything, I know Astro can backup apps; however, it does not back up apps that are stored on the SD card. And I have too many apps to move them all to internal storage to back them up with Astro.
I really need to find the file pathway so I can copy the .apk's. Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks.
the easy way, try titanium backup

I ended up just playing 'musical chairs' with the apps on the SD card to put them on the internal storage to back them up with Astro. It worked pretty well, though was unnecessarily time consuming.
And a lot of the best features in Titanium cost; I know it's supporting the dev, but I'm an eternal cheap skate when it comes to apps...

[Q] SD Card no write access?

The past few days on CM9 nightlies, I haven't had write access to the internal sd from the phone. I first noticed when SMS Backup & Restore said it didn't have write access to the backup file (which was on the external sd, which works just fine still). Then I noticed I couldn't delete/move anything in ES file explorer, or backup anything with Tibu (said there wasn't enough free space). Odd thing is, I can download files to it through any browser, and do things with terminal, adb, and the manage apps menu. All other apps don't work though.
I can only get everything to work if I wipe data, but that isn't ideal since I can't do any Tibu backups in this state and it would be my second time starting from absolute scratch this week. I really don't want to do that again. So is there a way to fix this?

clean up phone - internal memory

Hi guys,
I am running a PA at the moment and I want to switch over to CM9, however I would like to try and clean up the phone from all the app leftovers and stuff. With the SD card this is easy, I will just format it, but what do I do with the phone itself ? Is it possible to format the internal memory as well ( the part that is not used by the ROM) or should I just delete the folders created by the old installs etc ?
If there is a procedure for this, this one would be really grateful if someone could point him in the right direction.
Thank you
you can safely format your sd card (internal) via windows / mac without any issues, Just make sure to copy over your important stuff (pics, videos, music ect) before formatting, then copy them back after.
Android will rebuild its required files and folders upon a reboot. You could also try the app 'SD Maid' (free & paid) which keeps your sd card(s) free of junk, removing empty folders, Duplicate files and a whole lot more... Kinda like CCleaner for windows !
+1.
would love to know too.
EDIT:
Wait what?
So I could actually like delete all my files and folders on both the internal and external sd cards, and my device will still work perfectly fine with Android automagically regenerating all the required folders and stuff?
That is...
Awesome.
Sure You would need to reboot straight away tho !
only Android will rebuild its needed files, Not your apps, So you might need to back them up too, or make a Titanium backup before hand.
I format my SD cards everytime i do a full wipe. what i do is:
Connect to my PC
Make a titanium backup
Copy all my important things over (Roms, Mods, Pics, Music ect)
Format both SD cards
copy back to phone my important things
reboot into recovery
do a full wipe / factory reset, along with caches and dalvik cache
*install new ROM*
Reboot
Restore Titanium Backup
Google for squeaky clean install from rocketrom thread.

Thanks guys, I had no idea that android rebuilds itself, that is mind boggling to say the least.
btw, since we are talking backup and restore, do you guys have a good solution for backing up and restoring contacts other than Gmail? Kies doesn't work with custom roms sadly and with Gmail I can't only sync a certain group.
Thank you again

sure, Go to your contacts and select menu, Go to import / export and export them to your sd card, This will create a .vcf file, Then all you have to do is the same method but this time select import from sd card and select the file and hey presto, Contacts are back

[Q] Backup contacts and send it to samsung note 2

Hi.
I make a backup of all contacts i have in my samsung galaxy s plus and i send it from bluetoooth to the samsung galaxy note 2 and now i DON'T find anywhere at note2 the vcf file to restore the contacts of galaxy s plus.
Can anyone tell me where it stores the contacts vcf file the note2?
Already search at the bluetooth folder but the file it isn't here.
When i send the file and press propetries to this file it show me inbox\transfers but i don't find anywhere that folder and even with es explorer program i make a complete search for vcf file and didn't find it anywhere.
Can anyone help me and tell me where else i search or to what name store the contacts backup file the galaxy s plus?
The note2 isn't rooted it is with original 4.1.1 android version.
please tell me a way to find out this contact backup file where it is stored at note2 so i can restore the contacts to the galaxy s plus.
It doesn't make a backup at gmail account i was syncronize the galaxy s plus so the only solution is to find that file.
A LOT OF THANKS.
The vcf file has to be in the SD card. Transfering a file via Bluetooth allows the file to be in a folder somewhere else. Find a way to transfer it and still know where it is located.
Send it to the GMail and retrieve it. It will be on the downloads folder. Drag it out from the folder.

But EXACTLY that is the problem I DON'T know to which folder at note2 is send the vcf file.
And from the s plus there isn't anything at all because i do factory defaults so.....
If i know where it send the vcf contacts file at the note2 then i know what i do but the fact is I DON'T KNOW TO WICH FOLDER IS SEND THE VCF FILE OF CONTACTS(galaxy s plus) so....
How i find out(search) for that vcf file to entire note2?
If i connected to a pc like a memory device(flash disk) and not like mobile and search it from pc does i have any success or not?
You might have more luck finding it with your computer. Since you have cleared your galaxy s plus, you can only hope your Bluetooth transfer got through.
Since you said it can't be found on your Bluetooth folder, you might have failed the Bluetooth transfer.
Vcf file is stored in the SD card. Have you formatted your SD card too when you clean your galaxy s? You could have just reuse the SD card in your galaxy s.
If you don't use any SD card. It may still be in your internal SD as long as you did not format your SD when you factory reset.

At the note 2 i don't have delete anything at all.
At the galaxy s plus i have delete all with factory defaults option.
Neither of these two mobiles has external sd card.
As already tallied when i send the contact file i see it at the note2 status bar but i don't know to what folder is stored the file.
At bluetooth folder there isn't any that file.
How it name the vcf backup file the samsung galaxy s plus?
Maybe 00001.vcf
Yes it would be named as something like that. Your Galaxy S plus's internal sd may still have the vcf file. Check it out there. Or connect your note 2 to our computer and run a thorough search.
Factory data reset will not clear your internal SD. Only your apps. Files and folders are still intact unless you chose to reformat the SD in settings. So double check your Galaxy S plus's internal SD for the vcf file.

[Q] Problem download file browser after root

Hi to all.
Yesterday I've rooted my Samsung SIII Mini N (Vodafone IT) with JB 4.1.2
Now I've root and 2 partition on SD and work well for app on external SD now.
But after rooting I've a strange problem, if I use any browser (chrome, firefox, dolphin, internet ecc.) and I want to save a file or picture in a folder of external SD I can't now. Before rooting I can. Now message is "not space to save file" but I've 3 GB free on phone and 10 GB fred on SD.
If i Save file or picture on phone folder download is ok, when I try to SD folder is bad.
I've try to set permission all on SD folder but not save my change (I use root folder and try other software but the same result).
How I can resolve? Thanks :good:
