These settings work for ALL types of yahoo email accounts: i.e. @yahoo.com, @ymail.com, @[email protected], @att.net, basically any type of email that is “Powered by Yahoo.com”

Hi
I am trying to configure an Alpine to download AOL mail.
I have used the following settings:-
Incoming:IMAP.aol.com
Outgoing:SMTP.aol.com
Username and passoword is correct.
I recieve the error:
Unable to connect to the incoming mail server.
Has anyone else managed to get their AOL webmail onto the Alpine?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Does AOL offer POP3 mail downloads? You mention its webmail, which doesn't necessarily mean it has an SMTP and POP3 server available.
aol mail working
I've had aol mail working on my spv1500 for a while now my settings are
username: Your email without the @aol.com
password: your password
account type: imap4
Name: AOL
incoming server: imap.aol.com
outgoing server: smtp.aol.com:587
under options on page 2 check outgoing mail requires authentication
These settings work for me but I only use wireless connection
Many thanks
It worked.
I am going absolutely mental here. Im trying to set up my Diamond so that i can retreve my mail but it wont allow me to it keeps popping up with an error. i think it has something to do with the port numbers i do not know how to change them. i've set up my other mail accounts theyre ok but its just this one. Details are below
can someone please help me???
Mail Server Username: xxxxxxxx.com
Incoming Mail Server: mail.xxxxx.com
Incoming Mail Server: (SSL) hp1x.xxx.com
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.xx.com (server requires authentication) port 587
Outgoing Mail Server: (SSL) hp1x.xx.com (server requires authentication) port 465
Supported Incoming Mail Protocols: POP3, POP3S (SSL/TLS), IMAP, IMAPS (SSL/TLS)
Supported Outgoing Mail Protocols: SMTP, SMTPS (SSL/TLS)
also is there any software tweak app. that will tuen off my Internet connection if not used for 5 mins
Advanced Config gives you the option to drop your internet connection for x minutes. I was using it but it seems to disable data connection when in standby so auto retrieval seems to stop working, does for me anyway but I'm still testing.
thanks, but its no good to me if i cant access my email. Thanks for your post
Took me a little while before I figured out how to change the portnumbers as well. Here is what you do:
When you type in your server, you add a colon at the end followed by the port number.
For example: mail.xxx.com:425
Hope that helps!

Hi,
My hotmail account will limit the number of emails on the d2 to 50.
Is it really a hard limit impossible to change?
Or is there a regedit settings to be able to change to move this limit up to 100 or 200?
try it as pop3
Try to set up hotmail as pop3 instead of using the standard account that is set up as part of windows live.
The general settings are:
* Incoming Server: pop3.live.com
* Incoming Port: 995
* SSL Encryption: yes
* Outgoing Server: smtp.live.com
* Outgoing port: 25 (use port 587 if the default port is not working)
* Authentication: yes
* TLS Or SSL: yes
Enter a fake email address in the first screen and then uncheck 'Try to get e-mail settings...' so that it lets you enter all settings manually.
I haven't tried it yet
Hello everyone I keep getting an error when setting up my yahoo email account with the stock email client.
-i manually choose IMAP and configure my settings to imap.mail.yahoo.com
and leave everything else as is but i still get username and password is incorrect! I have checked my username and password how many times and still not correct!!
has any one got this going for the galaxy s phones?
I haven't had any trouble setting up Yahoo Mail. I've tried stock email, K-9, and the Yahoo Mail app.
Have you tried doing it with automatic settings?
yea i tried using the stock automatic settings but still no go....
i just updated to att 2.2 firmware. mines not rooted.
Strange. For my incoming server, I've got the same IMAP as you, Security Type SSL (if available), Authentication type Plain, Port 993
Also, for Username, I just have my prefix without the @yahoo.com part
All I can think of otherwise is try the Yahoo Mail client or K-9 and see if those work.

yay the incoming works because my settings were a little different with yours i had to change the port number..
-now can you help me with the outgoing settings? thank you!!!!
Cool - glad it works! For outgoing I have these:
SMTP server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
Security: None
Port: 25
Require sign-in (checked)
Authentication: Plain
Username: again, just the prefix
I've searched here and elsewhere but I haven't been able to find a solution. I can't get Yahoo email to work. I go to add accounts and my account adds for a few seconds and then disappears. I add my account manually following the instructions posted in many places but I get error messages for the outgoing server 503 Access denied because the server is for mobile devices only.
Manual add followed these guidelines:
Mail type: IMAP
Incoming mail server
Incoming server: palm.imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993
Encryption: SSL
Outgoing mail server
Outgoing server: palm.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Use Authentication: On
Port: 465
Encryption: SSL
I have deleted "Palm" in the outgoing sever address as suggested but that only gets rid of the error message and leaves me with no outgoing yahoo email.
Help!
Thanks
P.S. If there is a thread I missed, please send me in the right direction.
