Can anyone answer the question?? No Cyangogenmod, Villain and all the other cool custom Roms.. What is the Reason/Problem..?
Sent from my GT-I9000 (XXJPK) using XDA App
Actually there are a couple of them in the Dev area based on the beta versions of Froyo.
For the most part I think everyone is waiting for the final Froyo to be released before investing the time in a beta rom.
my 2 cents
But this all not really Roms.. They are themed an they removing/install Apps on the Stock Rom..?! :/
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
what do you consider a Custom ROM?
there are many skinned Custom ROMs if you check inside the Development area
They are working on Cyanogenmod (starting with Vibrant first though)
I mean with a Custom Rom a full themed flashabel Rom.. Like Cyangogenmod, Villain..!
Like at the HTC Phones..
But thanks for the Information with the Cyngogenmod
And another Question..
How to Install another Bootanimation?
Thanks for the Answers ;D
No working BootAnimation for i9000 till now.
Why there are no Bootanimations? Anyone know?
the OS has been hacked by samsung, and the files works slightly differently
and no one has bothered to figure out how to make it work on the SGS yet, that's why
it's in the low priority list

I've decided to move from windows developing ROM's to android. I have the base rom's and radio's but I'm looking for anything you guys want?
I have a legend and will be souly developing for it so I need to know what your looking for.
Any feedback would be great and I hope to have first build online in the next few weeks!
Thanks.
For example: it´s would be nice to have another froyo based rom with some of the next features:
- jit activated
- perflock disabled
- one with sense, another without it
- ¿overclocked kernel?
- latest drivers from official htc roms
Maybe you can take ali ba or kyosa roms for using like base rom. Or you cant take the official rom that HTC says is going to be available this month.
You could try to make your froyo rom based on Cyanogen mod 6. Or perhapes you could make sensless(without htc sens, and other usless crap) rom based on latest 2.10.xxx rom. Wich would include ADW launcher and some other cupcakes
I would REALLY love an andoird 2.2 rom with FM radio (and JIT enabled)
grlayouts - welcome! Its great to have another developer on board for the Legend
Personally I think the real demand will probably arrive when the Legend officially gets 2.2, I'm sure many people will want a non-sense/vanilla ROM (I'm not sure how much CM6 differs from pure vanilla).
For inspiration it may be worth looking at some of the more popular ROMs in the Desire subforum, too.
Also one big thing we're missing on the Legend thus far is the ability to apply themes.. am aware that's largely down to not having the required level of root access but I believe there has been recent progress on that front...
Enough from me...! I'm sure the Legend community will be grateful for any of your releases...look forward to seeing your work!
Good luck!

I would love a themeable rom, or completely blank froyo and yes it really is good to see a new developer, the more the merrier

Imagine a dog with its salivating tongue hanging out.
We are all waiting for THE FROYO. So, anything based on 2.2 please, thanks.
A rom compatible with oc kernels released or maybe you could release a few of your own.
I dont mind HTC Sense. A few bug changes
Welcome to the community. We have many children here

there are many people that are looking for this on legend.
For a rom a nice 2.2 without fancy stuff, very fast and stable oc kernel etc.
Why not try and join the villainrom guys and create a legend version of villainrom. Looking forward to a 2.2 Rom with working radio.

No one excpet htc will provide you this...
The Desire device had it before htc released.
Why Legend not?
Thanks to Ali baba for his source on irc I will probably be using that! I have a second build installed with the nexus dialer and contacts and I'll be working on the look now. Keep the input coming.
I will also be looking into villain ROM and seeing what they offer.

Yeah, considering the guys at villainrom have used a lot of legend ports I'm surprised there hasn't been anything for us
Surely if we start with a hero froyo ROM we could work backwards. Not sure if they have a sense ROM though?
Had a quick go at trying to port back to legend, but keep always get errors on the install. Taking ages atm cus I'm just changing what the install error complains about & then trying again.
Anyone no any specifics on what needs changing to port?

Because the Desire developers figured out how to configure and build a device target to travel forward in spacetime.
The other explanation would be that there was a test build that leaked and spread really fast.
I'm starting to believe that HTC will not release an official 2.2 ROM for the Legend. It did not sell that well and there's no money to be made of that upgrade.
I think Froyo ROM development would be most appriciated by many enthusiasts.
But great builds of htcs official and enclair builds are always liked and used by many users ;-)
Also welcome to the legendary boards. Good pick. I came from wm on the Elf myself.
[Poll]Which ROM is the best that you've ever used in HTC Buzz: Wildfire?
My first customize rom was puzzlerom but this rom is very bugged, the kernel isnt working good and had a loot of freezes. Now I use cyanogen mod 6.1 and I' m very happy. This is great rom with updates. Cyanogen's rooms are the best because I have wildfire, my frend have G1 and we both using cyanogen rooms. I never using openfire and I cant say anything abaut this... This is my opinion

Cyanogen FTW! ^_^

Cyanogen would be my fav if it had flash in it... for now.. wildpuzzle 8.0.10 since 11 gives me lots of network dc problems..

Id go for OpenFire for now. Until CM gets the sim PIN fixed. Then id permanently switch to that
I do not get it - what is the point of "Whats the best..." poll threads?
You should probably understand that every single person is different, likes and prefers something else.
Imho Wildpuzzle 2.1 1.0.1 and Openfire 2.3.

Cm6 no need for flash imo, watching the youtube videos is enough for me anyways

there is..... NO SUCH THING as the best of anything. EVER. There is a Majority, and a minority, AND in between, BUT there is NEVER EVER a case for the best of anything. We ALL have different needs and tastes.
Want to Know MY favorite rom? Stock. Its runs near flawless, EVERYTHING works and there are no major bugs.
Want to Know ^^Kevins^^, CyanogenMOD.
Neither of us are right or wrong, it just so happens that our needs are fufilled by that particular rom.
Flash EACH ONE, play around with it for a few days and then try the next and you will find one that just 'feels right' for you.

rarrrr internetz!!! the poll is asking an opinion? which is the best rom you have used.....personally the best rom i ever used was the private beta preview of w[ildfire]ndows 98 with added blue screen goodness. available only to me in my head. second best is openfire, but at least it tries.
This poll is just for voting your favorite rom. I don't want any arguments happening in forums :X

all roms where full of bugs.anyway.the best rom is cyanogen.but as i said:every rom is full of bugs.
they shouldnt do it with the chinish version
The best rom i tryed when i used my wildfire was handsdown Openfire.
Fast as hell stable and smooth.
if you ever have force closes you only have to run "fix permissions" in rom manager + reboot.
Meh cyanogenmod, wins alot of votes only by the name.
VillainROM for Wildfire!
Openfire 2.3 combined with SetCpu, cant get any faster than that
Stock - v.stable and has sence and resolves clockwork charging issue (I'm not rooted) and I couldnt get wildpuzzle to boot

What charging issue?
Well, to be honest, i went back to stock rom, just using another kernel that's rooted, and gives me oc capabilities.
I did it because even tho the devs are doing a great job on these custom roms, they are still flawed, some minor bugs here and there, but it adds up, and i can't just fix the issues my self, maybe some can, but i can't.
I've tried WildPuzzleROM 2.2 Froyo v8.0.11 & CyanogenMod 6.1.0 RC2
i liked wildpuzzle best.
My vote goes for stock Rom , then comes OPENFIRE fastest and stable too

Hey guys I have searched and searched for a plain vanilla android rom for the captivate an can't find one. Can someone help me out? Thanks

It doesn't exist.
Yet.
Check the Gingerbread thread in the i9000 forum. Once it's up and running fully, then it'll be a hop, skip, and a jump from Captivates. As is it already runs beautifully. They just need to nail down the stability and Camera/Network/GPS.

A few people tried to do a vanilla 2.1 when the cappy was released but it didn't really get far.
Sent from my GT-I9000
The closest you'll get to a stock rom is the gingerbread rom in dev right now
The Gingerbread ROM is from the Nexus S, so it will be as vanilla as it gets.
Sent from my Samsung Captivate using XDA App
Samsung has never released Source - so no way to do a Vanilla ROM.
BUT.. like the above posters have said there is the Source for the Nexus S and they are making great headway... it will be the closest we get to a "Vanilla" ROM for our phones.
I have seen and tried most of the GB roms, including a modded stock JVO for my own personal usage. They are all version 2.3.3 and get better all the way up to JVO.
It occurs to me that nobody has a GRJ22 (2.3.4) rom for anything other than the Nexus S except for the Cyanogen and MIUI roms.
Using my limited skills I have played around with GJR22 sourced from the Nexus S XDA forums but have been unable to get it to boot so far.
Has anyone gotten a working build going? If so, I offer myself (or rather my Captivate) for testing.
Thank you all for your hard work, skill and patience!
Cyanogen mod 7 is based off of GRJ22.

Yes, that was noted in my question (as well as MIUI).
It occurs to me that a rom from the Nexus S should be AOSP and not Samsung based (official Google phone and all that jazz). Maybe that is why no Samsung roms have been made but Cyanogen mod & MIUI have since they are AOSP based.
I probably just answered my own question but had earlier gotten caught up in the "next greatest thing" in roms kind of thinking.
Dear all users, I'm new to this device but not new for android. I'm seeking your advice what step should be taking on my phone in order to have an ICS look & fell, even not a rom but something semilar. Do you think shall I need to flash any custom roms? If so what is the popular one in the galaxy note development forum? My phone detail should read as follow attachments.

If you consider that ICS is announced to be released in March I would suggest to wait until the official ICS ROM is released. If you are eager to try ICS there are several CustomROMs based on leaked ICS Firmware - see Android Dev Section
On the other hand there is the possibility to use themes that give you more or less an impression how ICS would look like - for example ICE CREAM SANDWICH DOMINATION. For more details on themes check the Themes & Apps section.
Hope you find something you like...
Hope your loving the note
Hi there,
I think that alot is down to personal preferences. Personally I am not a fan of ICS themes on Gingerbread.
The best ROM for 100% ICS experience IMO is imilka's ASOP. Pure ICS. I love it but it's too buggy.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516515
I think it worth a play to see what ICS is like.
I have retraced back to this setup, Stable ICS ROM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1509703
It's Touch Wiz themed but you can just install the Nova Launcher from market to give you a ICS home screen which is a enhanced version of the ICS stock launcher. Most importantly it's bug free.
Also check out this Battery Saver profile using the tasker app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1031743
A nice little gem you will appreciate once you realise u can't put the damm thing down
i think you can achieve a faux ICS look by downloading some alternate launchers in the market (like go launcher pro), and download the appropriate ICS theme.
i mean, you don't have to necessarily "flash" a custom rom to achieve the same look.
IMO.
now if you want ICS feel, the best option is flashing a custom rom. There are plenty of custom roms here, so feel free to try (just follow the instructions carefully).
Personally i recommend criskelo rom, but i'm currently on midnote v2.0, using ICS rom.
Thank all u guys here for ur good advices.
