I have a lot of quick contacts and after upgrading to froyo, they now have a speech bubble overlay/badge on the icon that I'd like to disable/hide. What's the easiest way to go about hiding it?

Can it be done, and how?
Like to make theme but want to get rid of the text.
Any pro,s here that can assist?
I am no developer, but I suppose that the easiest way to go about it is to browse through the localization fiels and remove the word. Or to go through the xml files in Rosie and find the keyword.
I been looking for the same mod, but without luck. Anyone that have success in hiding the text?
Ok, so I have been playing around with LauncherPro and Bettercut over the past day or two and this is driving me mad. I have a feeling this hasn't been solved yet at the only information I have been able to find on the Internet is more or less threads with what I'm about to ask ending in "don't think its possible mate".
I didn't think the fine folks at XDA would think anything was "impossible"
Firstly I have made a video of what I am trying to achieve just so its easy to understand what my problem is, especially if you are not using the same apps that I am.

For those who cant watch the video -
When in sense both the mail and messages shortcuts have green icons next to them to inform you of how many unread messages you may have. You cannot change these icons with Bettercut or similar because they will automatically revert back to the same sense icons, something to do with sense controlling these particular icons I suspect.
When in ADW or launcher pro the green icons next to the mail and messages shortcuts do not appear, you can have the icons and you can change them with LP or bettercut but they will never have an unread count by them.
Oddly the messages icon in the dock bar of LP has a unread count but I assume this is the system or LP itself creating this. The same cannot be said for the email if placed in the dock bar it still will not inform you of your unread count.
There are two ways that occur to me to go about changing these icons, firstly would be to find the images Sense uses and modify these, I simply have no idea where to look for them. Secondly would be to find the service that tells sense to update its icon and use this to create a bubble similar to that seen on the messages icon on the LP home screen. The latter would obviously be the preferred solution but perhaps more complicated.
If this could be achieved I think it would certainly help out alot of people trying to mod the look of their devices, its certainly very frustrating not being able to use these shortcuts in alternative home launchers.
So if anyone has any suggestions let me know and I'll dig further
Any suggestions from anyone on this, tried searching up and down for any threads or post relating to changing or modding the sense launcher but nothing. I know this is possible because the latest revision of MDJ's android build for my HD2 has a modified HTC messaging icon with counter.
anyone?
Hi All,
I have a HTC One and recently got the OTA update for Jellybean. On the bar at the bottom i have Phone, Messages, Email and camera but then when i go to my apps i have the same icons again. Seems a little pointless and it's wasting 4 spaces for other apps in the folders.
I also cant hide them or freeze them as it removes both of the icons.
Any ideas how to remove the duplicates and just have them on the bar at the bottom?
Also can i set the home button to go to the app screen and not Blink or the other home screen?
No and no to your questions as far as I know. Two of the unwelcome new features and other me. Personally I created a "useless" the folder and throw all those additional icons in.
Thanks for confirming, shame i should have read all of the notes on the upgrade.

Do you even look at your phone, know how to use search, or Google? I doubt it.
By selecting the 'custom' appdrawer, you can select which icons you want to display and folders etc.
Now, both of you go away and give yourself a good talking to :silly:
I have to be honest I don't have to many friends but I think you may have missed the point of the question or your skim readings are rubbish.
I have the camera, messages, emails and phone icon on the bar at the bottom And in the normal app area. The custom feature is brilliant but when I hide the camera icon it hides both of the icons.
Ok, I have been looking around lately. And I was wondering, what is the simplest SMS app for android you can find?
I am actually interested in an sms app which has a List conversation style, the things that should be customizable is, font size and color, backround color, perhaps also the incomming and outgoing messages backround color a bit.
I did play around with Handcent and I have found it to be the best solution. So far I managed to tweak it into a nice simple style. The drawback is some pesky ad-placements. But thanks to the community here there are some good apps which are able to remove them.
But I'm still curious. Does anybody know any sms apps which might do the same? I just grew rather tired of text-bubble style conversations.
Hi - I have always had Galaxy phones and I create Contact shortcuts for all my friends that I use to quickly dial or text them.
I used to just use the Contact Widget and it would create a shortcut with a photo of my friend (I had uploaded those).
On my S23 when I do that its creating the shortcut but on top of the photo, in the corner, is an ugly, distracting orange mini-Contacts app icon. Looks terrible.
This never happened to me in the past and I just cannot figure out how to create the Contact widget without these ugly icons on top of them....
Thanks!
EDIT: Added links to two different HOW TO videos. The first shows how it used to look (no orange contact icon on the shortcut). The second shows how it looks know with the highly annoying orange contact icon imposed on the contact shortcut. Thanks!
